Water is a key ingredient in keeping the body cool. Water is most essential in summers when the body is naturally
losing it. With high humidity levels, sweat will not evaporate quickly. This prevents the body from releasing heat in
an efficient manner. This is why it is necessary to hydrate and drink water, even when you are not thirsty. Increase
water intake regardless of your activity levels.
II. Avoid caffeinated or carbonated beverages.
When the summer heat is rising, you're looking for ways to keep you cool off quickly. For this Everyone, especially
kids start reaching for diet sodas, ice cubes and the remote to the air conditioner. But we should keep it in our mind
that this quick relief can create a lot of problems. It is said that anything lower than your actual body temperature
produces a cooling effect only initially. Then, after about 20 minutes, the opposite happens. Sodas and aerated
drinks acts as dehydrating agents, so you should avoid them
III. Eat More Fresh fruits and Vegetables
Summer is the time when you should be looking for having fresh fruits and vegetables. Try different types of fruit
and veggeis every day. Those can be any types of your favorite greens, sweet or juicy fruit like strawberries,
cherries, apricot, pineapple, berries and so on, or crunchy veggies like bell peppers, cabbage, broccoli, cucumbers,
carrots and so on. However try avoiding fruits which cause increase in body heat like like spinach, radish, hot
peppers, onions, garlic, beetroot, pineapple, grapefruits. Mangos should be eaten after overnight soaking or after
cooling it in fridge. Instead of regular fruits try fresh berries, melons, greens, tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, beets,

pea pods, and all the super-nutritious and low-calorie fruits, greens and vegetables that grow in the garden this
time of year.
IV. Minimise the intake of hot, spicy foods and salty foods.
In Summers, You should avoid taking hot and spicy foods as these remain in the body and cause dehydration by
causing excessive sweating, which can be quite harmful and unpleasant in the summer months. These foods often
contain various types of Inorganic Salts. The body retains salt in the organic form found in fruits & veggies,
however, the inorganic salt needs to be removed out of the body. So, avoid excessive salts as constant water is
needed to remove these of the body.
V. Add Selenium Rich Foods
Summer is the time when your skin is having a very hard time. You need to take care of your Skin properly.
Selenium is regarded as effective against various summer related skin disorders and is known to protect skin
against UV-induced damage and cancer. Selenium deficiency compromises protective antioxidant enzymes in the
skin and can cause abnormalities during summers For this add selenium rich foods, such as cottage cheese, brown
rice,Fish, eggs, mushrooms and sunflower seeds to your diet. Selenium is an essential mineral for a youthful,
glowing skin.

Chilled summer soup is a refreshing option with a sandwich. You eat salad vegetables right out of the fridge; why
not go for a flavor-packed refrigerated soup, too? With a few fresh veggies and a food processor, you can create a
memorable meal with Latin flare that doesn't contain fat or a lot of sodium. Gazpacho thickened with bread crumbs
(the Portuguese way) has a nice broth, and the tomatoes and cucumbers give it just-picked goodness. It's full of
nutrients, easy to make and low in calories. What's not to like?
VII. Eat Watermelons
No other fruit says summer like the subtly crunchy, thirst quenching watermelon. Watermelon have many health
benefits in summer and is most popular summer fruit. Although watermelons can now be found in the markets
throughout the year, the season for watermelon is in the summer when they are sweet and of the best quality.
One of the main health benefits of watermelon is its status as a powerful antioxidant. Watermelons are a rich
source of natural antioxidants and vitamin A and C which helps to neutralize free radicals than can lead to
inflammation, general sickness and chronic illnesses such as stroke and heart attack. Also it makes you feel healthy
and energetic. The perfect companion for summers
Watermelons have huge amounts of beta-carotene, a powerful ally against many types of cancer, particularly colon
cancer. Also, a carotenoid found in abundance in watermelon provides additional cancer fighting health benefits of

Last but definitely not the least- watermelon has very high water content and healthy amount of fiber and protein. It
increase your metabolism and has fat burning benefits. So if you want to stay slim and flaunt your body at the
beach, this is your best friend
VIII. Minimize the Intake of Dry Foods
Dried foods cause heating of body so these should be avoided, instead concentrate on fresh summer foods. Also,
these foods are very high in Fat and Oil Content, which also has a thermal effect and heats up your body. For

feel if you sat down and drank a cup of oil?

Fried and oily foods should be avoided as much as possible during summer. These causes increase in body heat
and slows you down, when you should be going outdoors. Fatty foods, especially the fried variety, are digested
more slowly, causing you to feel heavy and bloated and increases your internal body temperature. The long term
harms are also there. So in Summer to stay cool avoid fried foods, but if you need fried foods, eat the healthy kind-
fats having monounsaturated fatty acids which can be found in Olive oil.
X. Ice Cream
Surprised! well Its summer and you should be allowed one food that everyone loves. Summer wouldn't be nearly as
nice without ice cream, and your favorite brand will taste even better when you use it in these fun and interesting ice
cream-based desserts. If you have a weekend afternoon to spare, try making your own ice cream concoctions.
Whatever be your taste and choice, summers are never the same without the ice-creams. So have a feast.
