INTRODUCTION

Mahkota Medical Centre (MMC) has established itself as a tertiary hospital of repute in Malaysia
and in the region, providing quality medical services at affordable rates. Managed and owned by
Health Management International Ltd (HMI), the hospital plays a vital part to the healthcare
groups operations. HMI was listed on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) in 1999.
The hospital is currently staffed with more than 71 full time medical specialists of various
disciplines. MMCs management comprises of personnel with varying qualifications. There is a
good mixture of personnel who has been with the company since its inception and those who
have recently joined from other established organisations.
The hospital currently manages 266 beds in six wards, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Coronary Care
Unit (CCU) and Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). The hospital also operates other medical
facilities including nine major Operating Rooms (ORs) and one Minor ORs, Radiology Services,
Laboratory, Pharmacy, Day Procedure Unit, Health Screening Services, Radiotherapy and
Chemotherapy Services, IVF Services, Haemodialysis Services, Physiotherapy Services and
Dental Services..
Besides the core services, the hospital also provides other services including the cafeteria and
retail facilities on the ground floor.
Mahkota Medical Centre is actively involved in Health Tourism which is strongly supported by
the Malaysian government. Statistically, more than 50,000 foreign patients come to Mahkota
Medical Centre for medical treatment annually.

monitored for trends and improvement. MMC benchmarks her results against public and private
hospitals, such as that by the Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) since 2004.

CENTRAL PHARMACY
Mahkota Central Pharmacy offers services to both inpatients and outpatients. The services
provided include the supply of drugs to both inpatient and outpatient customers, reconstitution of
chemotherapy drugs and patient counseling on drugs.
A registered pharmacist is available to cater to health needs of patients As part of the healthcare
team, other services are provided, such as offering instruction on the proper use of various aids,
devices and monitors.

EMERGENCY SERVICES
The Accident & Emergency Unit is equipped with dedicated medical personnel who provide
services for outpatient emergency cases and minor procedures for walk-in patients.
When emergency care is urgently needed, specialists are called in immediately to attend to the
patient. The emergency department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The
emergency department is equipped with ambulances that respond to emergency as well as non-
emergency calls.
