MICHELANGELO ACCOMPLISHMENTS/IMPACT

Michelangelo is one of the most famous artists still known to the day of
today, even though he was a man from the Renaissance. There are many different
art pieces that Michelangelo created which made an impact on the Renaissance
time but continues to also have an impact on the world today.

MICHELANGELO IMPACT ON THE RENAISSANCE:

Michelangelo liked to show a certain power in his sculptures and this in the
Renaissance, impacted the people since humans were not so valorized at that time.
In Michelangelos art he showed how important humans were and he celebrated
the human body, making peoples idea change by showing more importance
towards humanism. One of Michelangelos greatest achievements is the sculpture
of David, which demonstrates that the people from Florence saw themselves as
strong, smart and powerful. David made people realize that humans should be
given more value. This showed people more examples of humanism, and so, people
started to give more importance to themselves.

Michelangelo was one of only a few artists that painted humans with God,
which was a change in art at that time, where before God was only shown as the
greater, and now was being seen in the same pictures as humans. Michelangelo
also had a lot of influence in the peoples beliefs during the Renaissance, he gave
form and an image to religious people and made the people during the Renaissance
believe and hope. Michelangelo also painted in a way that made people believe in
what he believed, since he gave form to God, people believed in it because of the
detail expressions and shape he had given, therefore he became really popular.

During the Renaissance Michelangelo influenced other artists, such as
Raphael. Taken inside to see the Sistine Chapel before it was done, Raphael got to
get a glimpse of what Michelangelo was working on. The way the Sistine Chapel
was painted gave Raphael ideas to add to his own style of art. Michelangelos way
of painting inspired him to give more human like form to his own paintings. If it
wasnt for Michelangelo, the famous artists Raphael perhaps wouldnt of have done
many of really well known paintings such as the School of Athens, a really popular
art piece.

MICHELANGELOS IMPACT TODAY:

The statue of David is a statue of perfection. Michelangelo is an inspiration
because of the accomplishments he made and did humans exact in each of his art
pieces. To do so, he studied nature, science and anatomy. Michelangelo made his
pieces of art look realistic and precise even though of all the work he had to go
through. In the Sistine Chapel ceiling, Michelangelo was not convinced that he
should paint it because he was a sculptor, not an artist. Even though he had
uncertainty of painting this, he was forced to do so by Pope Julius II and
Michelangelo took the opportunity really well, doing a flawless job on his
paintings. He was asked to paint the 12 apostles, but instead he did over 300
figures once he got engaged on the job. As happened with the David sculpture,
Michelangelo changed the concept of the ideas he was asked to do and did it his
own. Michelangelo was requested to sculpture David, but instead of doing it like
artists before such as Donatello, he turned the piece of marble into David before
the moment of the battle, where he is calm, while other artists captured his
moment of victory. Michelangelo shows people until the day of today to add their
own style of art to different requests asked and make it your own. This affects
people until the day of today because Michelangelo inspires to push yourself
harder and do your best.

Michelangelo used many different techniques that were later on used by
other artists. He used perspective, luminous colors, 3D effect, facial expressions,
etc. Michelangelo influenced artists that appeared after some periods of time, such
as Peter Paul Rubens who used Michelangelos technique such as the bright colors
and how he positioned the people to show a certain power. Many of Rubens
paintings are still in museums until the day of today, which inspire people that
come and visit. The Fall of Men from Rubens is located at the Prado Museum, in
Madrid, which has millions of visitors daily.

Michelangelo put his beliefs into his art, and as he does this, he sends a
message to the people. Michelangelo drew in a pure way, where heaven was given
seriousness. He had a wish for heaven and in each of his art works, made people
respect and admire it, even in many years from now. There is feeling in his
paintings, and he tries to convey a message with them. In the Creation of Adam
theories say that Michelangelo was trying to show that God was giving passion and
emotion to Adam, as its noticeable that Adam is receiving something from God.
This theory has been said because Michelangelo received from God the inspiration
to do his paintings, and so its been hypothesized thats the message behind this
famous painting. Affecting many visitors today, the Sistine Chapel attracts tourists
because of the amazing talent Michelangelo had in painting. Michelangelo shows
humans as equal individuals. People today still admire him because he
demonstrates the possibility of the human kind to create a piece of art that
endures through generations and inspires people.

Michelangelo is a famous artist that has left legacies that anyone can visit at
the moment. Michelangelo impacted during the Renaissance and now, the way
people thought and so he focuses on giving value to humans and individuals.
Michelangelos life story and process as an artist is used as an influence to artists
today to learn from him and put passion to their art works. Michelangelo has
taught people many different things, techniques and thoughts. Michelangelo might
of have died, but he left a really important legacy behind, the importance of the
individual.
