Cost of gaining a degree reaches 33!""

Students starting university this year expect to pay 33,512 for a three-year degree course, a
rise of almost 5,000 on last year's proected figure, a survey says today!

students (ere preparing to cut $ac- on some of their social pleasures!
#he survey found that undergraduates expected to spend more than they did no( on
almost every aspect of their life, including eating out, alcohol and $uying clothes and on other
items such as rent and $oo-s!
#he only exception (as cigarettes, indicating that students may $e $ecoming more
health conscious!
Students no( spend an average (ee-ly sum of 13!1* on cigarettes, $ut they expect
the amount to drop to 12!5.!
#he survey also found that the amount students expected to spend over the next three
years on day-to-day items (as less than the predictions they made last year!
/n 2005 they forecast spending 1*.!*2 per (ee- over the next three years! #his year
they have cut the figure to 15+!*5, a saving of 1*!'* a (ee-!

informed a$out the financial realities of university than in previous years0!
