Theoptionallockingsystembezelincorporatesblueandambersystemstatusindicators.
Theblueindicatorlightsupwhenthesystemisoperatingcorrectly.Theamberindicatorlightsupwhenthe
systemneedsattentionduetoaproblemwithpowersupplies,fans,systemtemperature,orharddrives.The
backpanelindicatorconnectorallowsanindicatortobeattachedthatwillalsofunctionthesameasthe

SolvingProblemsDescribedbyLCDStatusMessages
WhenasinglemessageappearsonthestatusLCD,locatethecodeinTable28andperformthesuggested
correctiveaction.ThecodeontheLCDcanoftenspecifyaveryprecisefaultconditionthatiseasily
corrected.Forexample,ifthecodeE0780MISSINGCPU1appears,youknowthatamicroprocessoris
notinstalledinsocket1.
Incontrast,youmightbeabletodeterminetheproblemifmultiplerelatederrorsoccur.Forexample,ifyou
receiveaseriesofmessagesindicatingmultiplevoltagefaults,youmightdeterminethattheproblemisa
failingpowersupply.
RemovingLCDStatusMessages
Forfaultsassociatedwithsensors,suchastemperature,voltage,fans,andsoon,theLCDmessageis
automaticallyremovedwhenthatsensorreturnstoanormalstate.Forexample,iftemperaturefora
componentgoesoutofrange,theLCDdisplaysthefaultwhenthetemperaturereturnstotheacceptable
range,themessageisremovedfromtheLCD.Forotherfaults,youmusttakeactiontoremovethemessage
fromthedisplay:
CleartheSELYoucanperformthistaskremotely,butyouwilllosetheeventhistoryforthe
system.
ChassisintrusionWhenyouremovethecover,thesystemassumesthatyouareservicingthebad
componenttheLCDclearswhenyoureplacethecover.
PowercycleTurnoffthesystemanddisconnectitfromtheelectricaloutletwaitapproximately
tenseconds,reconnectthepowercable,andrestartthesystem.
Anyoftheseactionswillremovefaultmessages,andreturnthestatusindicatorsandLCDcolorstothe
normalstate.Messageswillreappearunderthefollowingconditions:
Thesensorreturnstoanormalstatebutfailsagain,resultinginanewSELentry.
Thesystemisresetandnewerroreventsaredetected.
Afailureisrecordedfromanothersourcethatmapstothesamedisplayentry.
