GENERAL MOTORS COMPANY, TRUCK AND COMMERCIAL VEHICLE CENTER, Detroit, Michigan

Engineering Manager, Powertrain Attributes, Fuel Economy and Performance, (2006 to Present)
Establish and executive engineering program strategies for Truck and Body on Frame platforms through 2020 models. Direct a multi-
disciplinary team of 34 through 6 direct reports. Administer a $1.5 million capital/parts expense budget with an authorization level of
$30,000 per transaction. Lead the selection and development of vehicle contents and fuel economy cycle plans to improve
competitive performance positioning. Manage attribute trade-offs between Fuel Economy, Performance Fuel and other affected
attributes. Drive cultural change within program activities in lieu of MAFE/CAFE requirements. Oversee the integration of CAE tool sets.
Developed and won senior management approval for a new Truck Powertrain and Vehicle Cycle Plan that increased the number
of Fuel economy competitive vehicles from 30% to 70%.
Spearheaded the Fuel Economy Competitive Cycle Plan for GMC Trucks through the 2020 model year, which reduced
engineering time and product content development time.
Launched Vehicle Segment Specific Performance Metric aligned to external Customer Satisfaction, resulting in a decrease in

Assistant Chief Engineer, Sierra Truck Programs, (2005 to 2006)
Provided technical direction and support to multiple divisions within the company (e.g. Product Engineering, Finance, Marketing,
Manufacturing Engineering, Purchase, Service) to deliver select model year Sierra truck products to the commercial and consumer
markets. Scope of responsibility included the leadership of 100 cross-functional engineers/personnel, production quality oversight, and
a $250M tooling/facilities budget (with a $10K spending authorization). Analyzed and authorized all Material Cost Reduction
Product Engineering actions. Oversaw the vehicle level profitability and contribution margin ($2PBT). Evaluated market data,
regulatory requirements, and customer quality data to create product content for improving the competitive positioning of Sierra
products. Co-led the manufacturing plan for Sierra Assembly Plants and supervised Product Launch Teams.
Added $100M in revenue by delivering a $250 affected unit material cost savings, while improving quality.
Saved $7M by driving quality improvements that reduced repairs 13% per 100 vehicles and lowered cost per unit sold by 32%.
Championed development of the 2006 MY Product at quality levels equivalent to outgoing product.
Introduced the Current Product Development Quality Operating System for the Plant Product Quality Manager.

Set, executed, and monitored quality standards and protocols for two Assembly Plants to meet strategic goals for costs, quality, and
productivity. Managed cross-functional engineering teams of up to 50 across four sites (KCAP, NAP, Michigan Truck Plant, and
Michigan Engineering Center). Reviewed and authorized all product engineering changes within a $12M budget ($5K tooling
authorization level and $0.25 Piece Cost). Provided oversight to the Cross/Internal Assembly Plant Variability Reduction Teams. Co-
led new product launches, Six-Sigma Programs and Lean Manufacturing methodologies. Coordinated Vehicle Line Single Agenda

Engineering Supervisor, Powertrain Design and Release, (1999 to 2002)
Led a team of 12 engineers in the design and development of Exhaust, Engine Mount, Air Induction and Accelerator control systems
for the Sierra GVW vehicles (gas/diesel engines). Scope of responsibility included product technology development, supplier
selection/negotiations, process design, tooling/piece cost negotiations, and training programs.
Co-managed development of the Exhaust System Design Specifications with respect to structural NVH and noise attenuation.
Led team to achieve all program milestones within financial targets.
Saved $1M in annual costs by championing implementation of the first 8500 GVW using non crimped pipe coupling.
Drove target requirements and design guidelines for the first 8500 GVW Hydro Mounts.
Developed the Peer Engineering Design Review Process to support development of new quality and robust design
process, reducing department campaigns by 80%.
Led development of muffler sizing process, which is now conducted on an attribute basis versus design requirement.
