Learning Outcomes
Information technology has changed how busi-
nesses operate and succeed in todays global econ-
omy. Organizations can now use IT to transform
themselves and achieve a tremendous competitive
advantage. This course highlights how this new
technology is changing the current business envi-
ronment and what effect it has on todays stu-
dents. The course addresses the major principles
of MIS in order to prepare managers to under-
stand the role of information technology in the
digital economy. This course aims to give students
what they need to succeed in the emerging digital
economy.

This course introduces the information system
development process to the students. The pro-
cess emphasizes effective communication and
integration with users and user systems. It en-
courages interpersonal skill development with
clients, users, team members, and others associat-
ed with development, operation, and maintenance
of the system. Databases and their fundamental
concepts are connected to the system development
process. Modern systems development and design
techniques, use of modeling tools, adherence to
methodological life cycle and project management
standards are applied. The course consists of lec-
tures and group exercises, during which a system
is build using the aforementioned tools and tech-
niques.

Learning Outcomes:
After the course you have reached a basic under-
standing of Enterprise Systems, particularly ERP
(Enterprise Resource Planning) systems. You will
learn how those systems are acquired, developed,
maintained and operated. Also you will
acknowledge the importance of business process
development and understand the idea of process
integration.

The course covers the foundations to understand-
ing ERP and Managerial Issues (Re-Engineering
and ERP systems, Planning and Implementation
of ERP, Managing ERP projects) and an overview
of the most important ERP modules.

The course deepens participants knowledge of key

This course is run as a seminar, where there are

Learning Outcomes:
After finalizing the Bachelors Thesis, students
carry out a proficiency test in mother tongue. The
objective is to show that a student can write an
essay in her or his mother tongue and that s/he
masters the basic concepts in her or his thesis. In
general, the test is written in Finnish, but non-
Finnish speakers are granted an exemption to
write the test in English.
Content:
The Maturity Test is taken at the end of the Bache-
lors Thesis Seminar (57C99902) and Bachelors
Thesis (57C99901). The test can be taken in con-
nection with any official exam, and the date is
agreed upon with the supervisor once the thesis is
written.

Learning Outcomes:
After the course, the students will understand the
connection between the analytical tools that can
be used on real data in companies and the strate-
gic decision-making. The students will have ana-
lytical skills that enable them to work with the
data, to understand it and turn it into intelligence
for particular decisional contexts.
Content:
The course seeks to provide a balanced approach
to BI by enabling insight into the building blocks
of BI, such as data management, querying, analyt-
ic tools, quantitative modeling, and reporting,
with the purpose to enable students acquire theo-
retical and practical understanding of decision-
making and problem solving.
