diagnostic tool
IMPORTANT
Consult the safety and cleanliness advice and ope-
ration recommendations before carrying out any
repair (see Airbag and Pretensioners: Precau-
tions for repair) (88C, Airbags and pretensioners).
IMPORTANT
To avoid any risk of triggering when working on or
near a pyrotechnic component (airbags or preten-
sioners), lock the airbag computer using the dia-
gnostic tool.
When this function is activated, all the trigger lines
are inhibited and the airbag warning light on the ins-
trument panel lights up continuously (ignition on).
IMPORTANT
Never handle the pyrotechnic systems (pretensio-
ners or airbags) near to a source of heat or naked
ame - they may be triggered.
Note:
To remove the headlining, strip one side of the
vehicle only.

The headlining on vehicles with a sunroof is held
in place using Velcro strips (6) . Take care not to
damage these when removing the headlining.

IMPORTANT
To avoid any risk of triggering when working on or
near a pyrotechnic component (airbags or preten-
sioners), lock the airbag computer using the dia-
gnostic tool.
When this function is activated, all the trigger lines
are inhibited and the airbag warning light on the ins-
trument panel lights up continuously (ignition on).
IMPORTANT
Never handle the pyrotechnic systems (pretensio-
ners or airbags) near to a source of heat or naked
ame - they may be triggered.
IMPORTANT
In order not to weaken a seat frame or bench seat
frame, all welding operations on the seat frames or
bench seat frames are forbidden.
Note:
Depending on the sales mode dened by the Parts
Department, conversions can be carried out on the
seat frames.
In this case, certain components can be removed
(pads, wires, brackets, inserts, etc.) depending on
the vehicle type.

IMPORTANT
Before carrying out any work on a safety or proxi-
mity system component, lock the airbag compu-
ter using the diagnostic tool. When this function
is activated, all the trigger lines are disabled and
the airbag instrument panel warning light is conti-
nuously lit when the ignition is switched on.
IMPORTANT
It is forbidden to work on pyrotechnic systems
(pretensioner or airbag) near a source of heat or
a naked ame; there is a risk of the airbags or
pretensioners being triggered.

sioners), lock the airbag computer using the dia-
gnostic tool.
When this function is activated, all the trigger lines
are inhibited and the airbag warning light on the ins-
trument panel lights up continuously (ignition on).
IMPORTANT
Never handle the pyrotechnic systems (pretensio-
ners or airbags) near to a source of heat or naked
ame - they may be triggered.

a Slightly detach the "foam - cover" assembly of the
front seatback near the headrest guides to reveal
the locking clips of the front seat headrest guides.
a Unclip the front seat headrest guides from the front
seat frame by pressing the locking clips (5) using a
flat-blade screwdriver (4) .
a Remove the front seat headrest guides.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
a Refit the front seat headrest guides fully into the
front seatback frame.
a Check that the front seat headrest guides are secure
on the front seatback frame.
II - FINAL OPERATION
a Refit the front seat headrest.
a Carry out a function test.
a Set the angle of the front seatback to its original po-
sition.

To prevent the headrest guides from being mixed
up, every headrest guide has a specic foolproo-
ng device.
IMPORTANT
To prevent the headrest coming away from the
guide during a collision, check that headrest
guide locking system is functioning correctly.
