The Sun
After attending the Walnut
Street Theatre Summer Camp,
Samuel Elder, Skylar Raye Noyes
and Kelly White, all 13-year-old
students of Moorestowns
William Allen Middle School, will
be taking a magical leap down the
rabbit hole, performing in the
Walnut Street Theatre for Kids
production of Disneys Alice in
Wonderland Jr. Elder will be
playing the part of the iconic
White Rabbit, Noyes will be Vio-
let of the Girls of Golden After-
noon, and White will be March
Hare of the Tea Party.
This will be Elders debut on
the Walnut Street Theatre Stage,
while it will be Noyes and
Whites second year with Camp
Walnut.
This will be Noyes third time
on the Walnut Street Theatre
Stage, performing in productions
since she was young. When she
was 2 years old, she started ballet
and loved being on stage. Then in
first grade, her music teacher
gave her a solo in the Thanksgiv-
ing show.
I realized I loved singing in
front of an audience and have
been performing ever since,
Noyes said.
White got into theater because
of her siblings. Her older brother
and sister were into theater and,
wanting to join them, she decided
to try it out. Elder was very much
the same, except his father and
friends did theater. Now, they
both are really into performing.
The Walnut Street Theatre
Camp experience helps children
learn about all aspects of theater
to expand their skills with
singing, acting and more.
The classes there at Camp
Walnut are taught by real profes-
sionals, so it is kind of like a
glimpse into the life of an actor. It
really helps you open up and be
more willing to try new things,
White said.
The children all enjoyed their
time at the camp, however be-
cause it was Elders first time, he
felt that he benefited greatly.
It was really fun and I learned
a lot. It was very based on improv
and its not my best field of work
so I learned a lot in that, Elder
said. The counselors are great
and I learned a lot through every-
thing. And you make a lot of new
friends through Camp Walnut, so
it is a great camp.
Elder is a little nervous for his

their company, Garganio said.
More than 1,000 job seekers with

hirteen years have passed
since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks
on New York City and Wash-

Thats hard to believe.
Its hard to believe that it was 13
years ago that this country changed
forever.
Its hard to believe that it was 13
years ago that so many innocent lives
were lost.
Its hard to believe how much our
lives have changed in those 13 years
how heightened security at public
places, especially airports, is expected
and openly accepted; how a persons
privacy is not always private; how
farewell and welcome home celebra-
tions for servicemen and women seem
to be commonplace; and how, sadly, the
world is still dealing with terror.
There are so many other examples
to mention of how our lives have
changed since that fateful day 13 years
ago.
Here we are, more than a decade
later, with 9/11 as a memory for all of
us who lived it, and a history lesson
for those who didnt.
Thirteen years later, we should all
be proud of the way we are remember-
ing and honoring those who lost their
lives that day as well as their families,
and also the servicemen and women
and their families who so bravely
have volunteered to serve this country.
In addition to annual memorials put
on at the national level, local commu-
nities are playing a large part, too. Our
community, and others around us,
host 9/11 remembrances and memori-
als.
We should all be proud of ourselves
and our fellow citizens. But we should
not stop here just because we have
done well so far.
We should never forget what hap-
pened 13 years ago. We should always
pause and respect those who were
taken from us and those who fight for
our freedom.
And we should ensure that those
who werent alive 13 years ago, or were
too young to remember, are taught
about what happened that day, and
how it will continue to affect our lives
and theirs.
We will never forget.

Stage, but he thinks he will have a
great time. Hopefully, Elder
wont take after his character,
White Rabbit, who is always
late.
He is always late to almost
everything. He cant not be late.
He is always dillydallying even
though he is always in the mind-
set that he has to be quick, Elder
said of his character.
White plays a few different
parts in the musical, however, her
biggest role is as March Hare in
the Tea Party, along with the Mad
Hatter, Door Mouse and Mock
Turtle. According to White, its
pretty crazy with lots of moving
and jumping around. She de-
scribed her character as really
fun and quirky.
Noyes said her character Violet
is sassy and snooty, which she
said she would play up with lots
of energy and fun expressions on

For Noyes, her favorite part
about the whole experience is
being on stage.
I love to see all the kids light
up when they see their favorite
characters come out on stage,
Noyes said.
White encourages people to
come, but to also bring their kids
to Alice in Wonderland Jr.
Its going to be more relatable
to the kids because kids are per-
forming it. Its just a really fun
and quirky show, White said.
There are a lot of fun songs and
dances that I think kids will
enjoy.
Of the show, Noyes said this
version will be very different
than any other Alice in Wonder-
land because it has so much en-
ergy. The audience will actually
feel like they are traveling down
the rabbit hole into the wacky
world of Wonderland with the
actors.
Its very bizarre, that is one of

end as the top seed in both the 100-
meter individual medley and the
50-meter butterfly.
In the preliminary individual
medley round, Carter broke a 16-
year-old record held by long-time
family friend Kate Conroy Nicas-
tro with a 1:04.32. The adrenalin
was still pumping several hours
later when she reset her own
league butterfly record with a
27.82.
Many athletes might rest on
their laurels, but not Carter. In
the final day of competition, she
bettered her own records in the
individual medley with a 104:02
and in the fly with a blistering
27.69.
Since she began swimming
competitively in the Tri-County
Swim League, Carter has earned
39 medals and ribbons in the sea-
son-ending championship meet.
Eleven of her medals are individ-
ual gold, while 10 are relay first-
place finishes.
The daughter of Sandra and
CR Orth got her start at the
Moorestown Community House
in swim lessons with Coach Tom
Wilkinson, who was also the
Pheasant Run head coach for
seven of her years as a Flyer. A
most nostalgic lady, Carter recalls
that her childhood mentor was
current head coach Elizabeth
Gadomski, who at the time was a
senior Flyer swimmer. This
turned out to be quite prophetic
because Carter has always con-
sidered the team to be her family.
She has a very special summer
memory when both she and her
sister Susan earned four gold
medals at the 2009 Tri-County
championship meet.
The Moorestown High School
senior also holds four Quaker
team records and nine SJAC indi-
vidual and numerous relay
records.
A Scholastic All-American as a
sophomore and junior, she also
earned All-South Jersey honors
in both years and All-Burlington
County honors during her three
years of high school.
So what's ahead for the swim-
ming superstar? She would love
to qualify for the 2016 Olympic
Trials and swim in the NCAA
championships in college.
Carter's long-term goal is to be a
veterinarian after majoring in
pre-med at a top-notch university.

Burlington County Colleges
radio station WBZC-FM (Z88.9) is
teaming up with the Burlington
County Sports Network this fall
to provide comprehensive cover-
age throughout the high school
football season online and over
the air.
Burlington County College
has a history of supporting local
high school communities and this
partnership will enhance that tra-
dition, BCC Interim President
David Spang said. High school
football can unify communities
and we are proud to be able to ex-
pand access to the best football ac-
tion in Burlington County.
The Burlington County Sports
Network, a subsidiary of JL
Media, is the premier provider of
high school sports coverage in the
county, offering in-depth insights
and analysis with network-quali-
ty multimedia content including
live play-by-play, talk show analy-
sis, practice breakdowns and
written articles.
As the leading source for high
school sports in South Jersey,
BurlCo SportsNet is excited about
the opportunity to team up with
an established radio presence like
Z88.9, said JL Media President
and CEO Jay Liberti. This part-
nership will help us build upon
the tremendous success we expe-
rienced last year as an internet-
only network, provide real-life
conditions for BCC students to
learn sports broadcasting and,
most importantly, provide greater
access for people in Burlington
County to follow the best high
school football action.
Games will be broadcast at
www.burlcosportsnet.com and on
88.9 FM.
Our team has extensive pro-
fessional experience and we are
thrilled to join with Burlco Sport-
sNet in providing the best cover-
age of high school sports in the
area, Z88.9 Operation Manager
Jay Varga said. This is an oppor-
tunity for Burlington County Col-
lege students to learn sports
broadcasting under game condi-
tions and for communities to fol-
low the top high school games
wherever they go.
