III. COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course utilizes and integrates the major areas of the business curriculum to develop long term goals and plans
for a variety of organizational settings. Course objectives include:
1. To identify approaches to corporate social responsibility
2. To identify the process for establishing long term goals and plans for organizations including the purpose of
mission statements
3. To analyze the external environments of business including industry structure, and the relative advantages of
firms within industries.
4. To identify and analyze the internal environment of business including firm capabilities, competitive
advantages and core competencies.
5. To identify strategies in use and be able to make appropriate selections from among feasible alternatives.

Exam 1 is a multiple choice test and it will cover Chapters 1-5.
Exam 2 is a multiple choice test and it will cover Chapters 6-9.
End of Chapter Exercises Group exercises, printed out from Glo-Bus and handed in during class.
End of Chapter Quizzes Individual, online multiple-choice quizzes available on Glo-Bus after most chapters.
Glo-Bus Simulation results* Throughout the semester, students will be participating in a competitive, global,
interactive strategy simulation. The results of this simulation will largely determine your simulation grade. A 5-
minute presentation on your strategy will be made as scheduled.
ERPSim Game demonstration of competence in navigating an ERP system and developing strategy for and
competing in a distribution simulation game.

V. CLASS POLICY & GENERAL INFORMATION:
1. Show up for class. I will take attendance & will give a small amount of extra credit for on-time excellent
attendance. This is the only extra credit available in this class. In-class assignments cannot be made up and
count toward the overall class grade.
2. Make-up Exams - No make-up exams will be given. The ERSim strategy simulation raw score will be used
to assign an exam score and the ERPSim will be done as an individual, not a team exercise. If two exams
are missed, see #5 below.
3. Academic honesty plagiarism, cheating or representing another's work as your own will result in
FAILURE FOR THE COURSE.
4. All written work must be correct as to spelling and grammar.
5. All assignments must be satisfactorily completed to earn a passing grade in this class. For group work
completion includes complete participation in all group activities, including lab work.
6. Anyone not present when GloBus companies are assigned may be assigned to an individual company.
7. Below average peer evaluations may result in a lowered overall grade, in some cases dramatically.
