PRAYER UPON ENTERING CHURCH
Lord Jesus Christ, You are the childrens friend for You invite them to come to You and You
give to them the kingdom. I rejoice that I am a child of God and an heir of everlasting life which You
won for me through Your suffering, death and resurrection. Grant that, as I continue to hear of Gods
mighty deeds done through You, my faith will be strengthened and I might rejoice in the salvation that
You have freely given to me. I pray this in Your holy name. Amen
WELCOME
Welcome to Grace! It is good for you to be here this morning to begin Your week
strengthened by Gods Word. We also hope that you will come and worship with us again. This
morning we observe Christian Education Sunday. We do so recognizing that we are all Gods
children, heirs of everlasting life. Gods very Word makes this known to us and is used by the Holy
Spirit to empower us to believe the mighty deeds of God. May the Word of God heard here this day,
both Law and Gospel, strengthen your faith by the power of the Holy Spirit to know Gods will and to
comprehend by faith His forgiveness, His undeserved mercy freely given for Christs sake. If you
have any questions about the teachings of Grace Congregation please speak with our Pastor.
We ask that everyone here this morning fill out an attendance registration card found at each
pew and return it to an Usher as the Offering is collected. Children are welcome in our Service and
will be invited to come forward for a Childrens Message. Parents may accompany them. Restrooms
are located on the lower level of this building or across the bridge on this floor level before entering
the fellowship hall. A nursery for infants and toddlers is located downstairs for anyone who has need.
HOLY COMMUNION
Holy Communion will be celebrated in the 10:45 Service today. In this sacrament we receive
Christs very body and blood for the forgiveness of sins. Those who are not members of Grace are
asked to speak with our Pastor before partaking of this sacrament so that the unity of faith might be
established. Thank you for honoring this request.
AS WE GATHER
Unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Becoming like children is not on most peoples list of priorities. Actually we may wish to grow up or
have our children grow up too quickly. We may treat our children as adults before they should be
treated as such. In this mornings Gospel account Jesus holds children up as those who will both enter
and become the great ones in the reign of God. We may think we have grown up in our faith and in
the full knowledge of Gods revelation to us in the Old and New Testament. Yet as that Word
humbles us we recognize that we need to continue to have a childlike zeal for gladly hearing and
learning Gods Word and the mighty deeds that He has done for us through Jesus Christ.

2014-2015 Mission Grant

WORSHIP FOR SHUT-INS $80,000

The senior-aged population of the United States is expanding dramatically and
establishing their residences within nursing care and retirement centers. Lutheran
Ministries Media (LMM) has created a world-wide television broadcast network for its
weekly worship program, Worship for Shut-Ins, and provides this program to any
facility willing to share it with the residents who may not have access to other
worship. For more information on this and other 2013-2015 LWML Mission Grants,

LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF


The Women of Grace are collecting supplies to make School Kits for Lutheran World
Relief. To the children who receive School Kits, these supplies mean the difference
between getting an education or not. In the places where LWR works, even a few required
supplies may be more than families can afford. Items needed for each kit include:
Four 70-sheet notebooks of wide-
or college-ruled paper; no loose-leaf paper
One 30-centimeter ruler, or a ruler with
centimeters on one side and inches on the other
One pencil sharpener
One blunt scissors (safety scissors with embedded steel blades work well)
Five unsharpened #2 pencils with erasers; secure together with a rubber band
Five black or blue ballpoint pens (no gel ink); secure together with a rubber band
One box of 16 or 24 crayons
One 2 eraser
Backpack

Our goal is 75 School Kits. Items may be brought to the church and placed in the
container marked School Kits.

We are also in need of volunteers to make simple backpacks. A simple pattern is
available on the table in the breezeway and some material is also available.
