U.S. Department of Energy
Architectural Manager for Team Texas
As Architectural Project Manager, I prepared and completed the construction documents and overall
design of the energy efficient home which was accepted to compete for the competition in Irvine,
California. With a team of 100+ students and professionals, I led the Architectural Team for Team
Texas to compete in 2013.
In the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon, ten collegiate teams are chosen at a global level.
The teams design and build energy-efficient houses powered by the sun. These teams spend almost
three years creating houses to compete in the 10 contests of the Solar Decathlon.
I am a conceptuaI artist whose body of work is infused with ideoIogicaI and aesthetic
concerns regarding topics of identity. In my art, the concept precedes the execution as
the most important part of the work. The visuaI image and materiaIs are then seIected to
express my concept. My oeuvre incIudes painting, drawing, printmaking, and mixed
media. MateriaIs range from traditionaI to the non-traditionaI. The marriage of different
media and techniques are used to address universaI probIems within individuaI identity
and human rights, which are prevaIent in aII cuItures. As a conceptuaI artist I try to use
non-traditionaI methods to express my specific ideas. Through my work, I expIore the
dichotomy of an uneasy worId and how individuaI identities are affected in personaI
ways. I try to chaIIenge concrete definitions of concepts within identity such as, reIigion,
sexuaIity, cuIture, and poIitics.
