Product description
The EMC

UDoctorCS reduces call home events and associated service

requests, and improves MTTR (Mean Time to Relief). This solution
monitors events on the storage system and sends notifications for
specified events that match specific rules (business or technical). It is
integrated as a part of FILE Operating Environment (OE) version 8.1.0

Product features
UDoctorCS version 4.0 contains the following major features:
! Filters: Filtering reduces call home events and associated service
requests. It also improves Mean Time to Relief (MTTR).
" HIB filter filters events that exceed the threshold count
within a specified time span.
" Benign filter filters events by using the Allow through
Error Table (ATET).
" Stale event filter filters old events.
" Group events filter filters events that belong to a single
configured group within a specified time span.
" Time throttle events filter filters events with a specific
symptom code or severity within a specified time span.
! Archive of events and logs: UDoctorCS archives events discarded
by the filtration engine. It archives this data for a configured time
period and up to a configured size limit in order to monitor
storage space.
! Test dial home: AHA sends out a test event and dials to the
System Reporting (SYR) system on a weekly basis. This is to
ensure that the connectivity mechanism is working properly and
to prevent an influx to the Front End Processor (FEP) and SYR
every week.
! TRiiAGE on Control Station (TOMS): TOMS helps automate the
process of gathering SPCollects and triaging the logs.
! TRiiAGE Real Time (TRT): TRT provides real time analysis and
solutions to array events, and thus reduces call home events.

New features
UDoctorCS version 4.0 contains the following additional new features:
! Support for gathering AHA statistics: AHA gathers counts of
notifications that reach AHA and tracks how many of them are
called home, archived, discarded, and filtered out by a particular
filter. After gathering the statistics, AHA will generate the statistics
report in the form of an XML file. This will be done on a periodic
basis, as configured. The generated statistics file will be bundled
with the monthly Control Station captured data (symptom code 5).
! New TRT script for the Power Supply events: Power supply
events with the power supply in a faulted state report the Power
Supply Event test as FAILED. They display the affected device, its
EMC serial number, and its EMC part number. They also display
the knowledge base article emc282984.
! Support for new Release 33 symptom codes: UDoctor supports
the new Release 33 symptom codes.
! Support for Java 7: UDoctor supports Java 7
! TOMS 500MB Check: UDoctor now checks the size of compressed
SPCollects (SPA + SPB) before initiating TRiiAGE ensuring
optimal space utilization. For this version the limit is set to 500MB
in size.
