The House of Bread
Notice an interesting picture of our
spiritual nourishment in Luke 2:4,
"And Joseph also went up from
Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth,
into Judaea, unto the city of David,
which is called Bethlehem;
(because he was of the house and
lineage of David:)." Jesus was born
in the town of Bethlehem, whose name
means "House of Bread." Bethlehem
was an agricultural area known for its
food production. God chose for Christ
to be born in the city that was known
for sustaining provision.
Just as Bethlehem provided physical
bread for the area, so Bethlehem
provides spiritual bread for us as
Christians. Our Saviour will provide for
and sustain us in every area of life-
physically, spiritually, emotionally, and
financially. All we must do is seek Him.
The shepherds sought Christ. Even so,
if we are to know His sustaining

provision, we must seek Him. He is
our House of Bread, ready to provide
help in our times of need. As
Deuteronomy 4:29 says, "But if
from thence thou shalt seek the
LORD thy God, thou shalt find
him, if thou seek him with all thy
heart and with all thy soul."
God provides spiritual nourishment
for us each day. He offers to spend
time with us, hear our prayers, speak
to us through His Word, and comfort
us in times of need. He has provided
us with our spiritual food. We must
take time to get alone with God and
receive His spiritual nourishment.
When was the last time you sought
after God? Have you taken time
during your time of need to search
Him out through His Scriptures? God
is your provision. He provides you
with the strength you need in difficult
times.

Where Will I Spend Eternity? Your relationship to

Jesus Christ is central to the answer to that question.
Our Dilemma:
We are, by nature, sinners who stand guilty and condemned before our Creator and Judge. In our
thoughts and actions, we have disobeyed His perfect standards. We are sinners (Romans 3:10, 23).
Our Inability:
We are helpless to save ourselves. Forgiveness is a gift to be received, not a reward that can be earned.
We need a Saviour (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Our Saviour:
Because of His love for us, God provided salvation through His Son, Jesus. He became a member of the
human family, lived without sin, and died on the cross to pay for our sins. Jesus is the Saviour (Romans
5:8; John 3:16).
Our Response:
Salvation is an individual matter and requires a personal response on the part of anyone that wants to be
saved. All who acknowledge their sin and place their trust in Christ are adopted as God’s children
(Romans 10:9, 13).
