Elvis is coming to Edgewood!
First Thursdays @ the Edgewood Farmers Market
Music by the MARC offers community opportunities to enjoy live music

The one and only King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, will be coming to Edgewood on
Thursday, October 2
nd
, to perform for the community from 4:00 6:00 p.m. at the Edgewood
Farmers Market. The Farmers Market pavilion, the countys only covered farmers market pavilion,
is located at 2122 Old Edgewood Road on the corner of Edgewood Road (Route 755) and Old
Edgewood Road next to the new MARC train station. The public is invited to attend this free
event.
Richard Blane, a Cecil-county resident and renowned Elvis impersonator, will be bringing his
talents to perform for the successful Music by the MARC program, which began in July in order to
expand the markets appeal by offering live music every First Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
We are thrilled to have live music at our market, explained Jansen Robinson, Chairman of
the Edgewood Community Council. This area of the market in Edgewood is popular for commuters
who use the train station each day, but during the market hours, its very quiet and shaded by trees.
Its a pleasant surprise for many first-time visitors.
The Edgewood Farmers Market has been a long standing tradition in Edgewood and
operates from May through October providing local residents with healthy food choices. Produce
vendors at the market include Don Merritt and Sons from Hydes, Maryland, as well as local farmer
Darryl Pearce of Lohrs Orchard. Items available for purchase range from organic produce and
homemade baked goods, however, on the first Thursday of each month, community groups, as well
as unique craft items and other products are also available for sale. The remaining farmers markets
will be held every Thursday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the same location through the end of October.
Helping the community is a passion for area residents. Lord of Life Lutheran Church, located
near the marketplace, will be holding a Canned Food Drive during the October 2

The First Thursday events have been organized by Maureen Eller, publications manager for
Harfords Southern County Magazine, a local quarterly magazine created to promote the areas of
