TITLE: Computer Technician

QUALIFICATIONS: Considerable training and/or experience in micro computer network systems. Any equivalent
combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and
abilities.

REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Technology

SUPERVISES: None

JOB GOAL: To lead the district in creating an organization of one, increasing student achievement and
establishing school community relationships.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Designs and/or implements network computer installations. This encompasses all aspects of network installation,
including design, budget estimates, plans, inside/outside network cabling, post-install inspection and test results
with Fluke test equipment.
Performs daily operations of managing network resources, computers, printers, tcp/ip, wan, lan, video, POE .
repairs to computers, printer, network wiring, punch downs, terminations, & install of network switches. This will
include operation of networking components such as switches, routers, hubs, bridges, helpdesk, and transport
media (wire, fiber optic cable, and/or wireless), as well as operation of configuration and management software
tools.
Monitors network traffic, usage and performance making use of utilization and error statistics.

Serves as technical specialist in network problems and emergencies; assists in troubleshooting and resolution of
network problems.
Analyzes and monitors network activity to ensure optimal network operation.
Controls network activity to ensure sound and secure operations.
Performs capacity planning with input from clients to ensure network services will deep pace with client needs.
Maintains basic schematics of existing and future network connectivity; maintains documentation on work
performed.
Advises and trains teachers, staff & administrators regarding computer or networking technology issues.

Reports to job-related injuries within 48 hours of work accident to the immediate supervisor.

Participates in and promotes harmonious working relationships with students, colleagues, parents and community
members.
Attends meetings as directed.
Serves on task force and decision-making committees, when appropriate.
Keeps abreast of current trends through staff development and professional organizations.

Minimum Qualifications: Physical and mental stamina and ability to perform job functions, tasks and duties.

Terms of Employment: 12 months Reports to: Supervisor of Technology

Salary Range: $31,645 - $38,145
