come true!

Broadcom, Intel etc.

Q 2)
FEMA
Organization:
FEMA is currently an agency under the department of Homeland Security
of US.
Initially it was an independent agency but in 2003 it came under
Department of Homeland Security.
This was a major cause that the FEMA is not a good agency in case of
disaster management.
Assignment 3
Saurabh Deugaonkar
This merger was a setback for the FEMA motto A nation Prepared.

Responsibility:
As a disaster management agency, the responsibility ranges from pre
disaster management, facilities for the suffered victims, financial aid, and
promptness to act, efficiency in the work and alerts and warning for
securing the area to be affected.
The criticism the FEMA has faced has showed the lack of responsibility in
major disasters like hurricanes and floods.

Execution:
The execution of the FEMA has always been under scanner because of
the decision-making flaws in the system.
The cases of poor execution to the plan are witnessed in major events and
for almost every disaster the US has faced.
The certain execution flaws are due to the hierarchy and political
influence.
A case that was seen during the South Florida Hurricanes was that the
FEMA declared the wrong county as disaster affected and distributed
money.

Scope of improvement:
1. The best way to improve a disaster management agency is to make it an
autonomous organization.
2. Then it should be segmented into various small departments with
specialized knowledge about the specific task.
3. Deployment of right person at the right place.
4. Improving the technological infrastructure.
5. Knowledge from the local authorities always plays an important hand in
knowing the topography of the region.
6. The system should be centralized for overall administration, as the
different zones currently do not have any connection between them.
7. Most importantly there should not be any political influence in this agency.
8. The financial management must be precise in order to create funds and
use them in disaster-affected areas.
