This document summarizes the construction method of the sunk well for the Circulating Water Pump House at the Pelabuhan Ratu Coal Fired Power Plant in Indonesia. The sunk well is divided into two parts - the submerged section and the non-submerged upper section. The submerged section is constructed using an open caisson system and is divided into five layers to assist with the sinking process as each layer is added. Once the designed depth is reached, a concrete plug is applied to the bottom of the sunk well before constructing the upper section on top. This method avoids large-scale soil excavation and backfilling, reducing work time and space needs to provide an effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly construction approach.

CONSTRUCTION METHOD OF SUNK WELL OF CI RCULATI NG WATER PUMP HOUSE PELABUHAN RATU COAL FIRED POWER PLANT
Circulating Water Pump House (C.W Pump House) is a facility containing the equipmet which serves to pump seawater for cooling circulation process in Coal Fired Power Plant (CFPP). Pelabuhan Ratu CFPP is using C.W Pump House as water supplier for cooling. C.W Pump House is a significant value facility built on the beach, therefore it should be built effectively, efficiently, and environmentally friendly. This papers objective is to elaborate the construction method of sunk well of C.W Pump House in Pelabuhan Ratu CFPP that have an effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly construction method.
C.W Pump House in Pelabuhan Ratu CFPP adopts sunk well as its underground structure. It divided into two parts, namely sunk well for the submerged part and the upper part for no submerged part. The submerged part called with sunk well, adopted open caisson sistem. Its lower inside of outer walls shall be shaped and the inner bottom beams be tapered, which be named cutting edges, to assist sinking and excavation and to provide a key for the concrete plug at the base. Sunk well divided into five layers associated with the stage of sinking and it utilizing the weight of each layer constructed, which resulted the overall weight of the sunk well exceed the bearing capacity of existing soil. After reached the depth design, concrete plug applied at the bottom of sunk well and then the upper part built on top of it.
Within this method, soil excavation and backfill process in large volume can be avoided resulting in reduction of work time. In addition, this method does not require a large work space so that more effective. This indicates that the method is effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly and it can be applied to the construction of another C.W Pump House more particularly in Indonesia.
