New Vision, fresh start. This is what is
wanted after -thousand years- of fight in our
department. I had the chance to attend the
Start-Up week end, and the Web week
organized by students! Yes, simple stu-
dents who did their best to make it success-
ful and it was! They do not care anymore
about the problemes, they are making
changes on their own.
Sometimes, we have to see the world out
of the fences. We are struggling in so many
problems that we are wasting our youth, for
nothing at all. What was it I paused to
think- what was it that so unnerved me in
the contemplation of* the B department It
is the fact that we do not have any positive
aura going in there. We focused so many
years on problems, we know them, every-
one does, but no one is able to fix things.
The whole infrastructure is messy. It is
about time to loosen the belt take a deep
breath, and start afresh..
Just like a couples quarrel, at some point
you need to let things go to be able to fix
them.

All amazing ideas emerged from the sim-
plest ones. As now, we have the -audacity-
to say that this small idea of making a
magazine of our department will someday
reach a positive point, will somehow help
students, to know things, to forget things, to
learn to unlearn, to be able to accept, to be
able to see from a different angle, to be
-simply- Yes to be.
You can consider BEEZ magazine as an
opening to a new vision, to a bright start
why not. When things are going wrong, step
back and take a look around We are on
the other way, and will try to make at least
the slightest positive change in our depart-
ment! We are young, we are fresh, we are

Am i really one?
Be an Algerian student at this time: what
does is it imply? If its true that university
should be the propitious space to the personal
blossoming, to the cultural exchange and an
open over the foreign world. Is it the case
today in Algeria? Its a question that deserves
a reflection.
The student has for sure evolved since the
independence of our nation. The context
wherein he lives also changed. But today if
there is a statement that should be
done, its the student wallows in an
alarming lethargy .And this disas-
trous takes roots on the annihila-
tion of the reflection. Let us take a
concrete example: the strike which
paralyzed a great number of univer-
sities in the whole country. This strike
was characterized by a generalized
and justified exasperation .But after a three
months strike everything is back to normal. So
we can wonder if it was useful.
When we analyze the behavior of students
we see that they go from one extreme to the
other, from a lethargic state to anarchic and
chaotic ones. Its really regrettable that all the
intermediates stages are being neglected
such as the improve debate, the reflec-
tions over the primary necessities, the mea-
sures to take with being aware of the social,
political and economical context. All this proce-
dures are very often neglected because the
result cannot be seen immediately, but its
what gives a strong base to every claim move-
ment. We Algerian should change our way of
thinking : we need to learn to be ambitious , not
to think on a pessimistic way and we also need
to be convince that we young Algerian can
have the possibility to make our nation
become better but only if we are aware
of the needs of our country , and
being instruct is the only possibility
to reach this aim ! We also need
to be open minded and realistic :
we are in a period of history ,
where we need to work hard and
make sacrifices for the sake of the
nation and for providing a better lifes
condition to our descendants .

To conclude, I will say if there is one thing
that any student can do it; its to be aware of
his student status with what it implies in term
of initiative. If there is something that is wrong
and you can have the opportunity to make it
better, which be enough aware to be able for
taking the initiative to change it in a better
way.

It is said that revenge is not a straight line,
it is like a forest, you may get lost as you enter it
and forget where you came from.
We usually tend to feel bad after avenging
ourselves on someone, we wish we havent
done what we did, we feel guilty and awful; but,
lets take a close look at the situation. We prob-
ably could not have known about our feeling
after the revenge, could we?! Besides, would
we have given up the idea of taking our revenge
on someone if we did know? At first all we think
about is punishing who hurt
us and avenge ourselves
on them, nothing else mat-
ters at that moment...
The funny thing about
revenge is that we rarely
(almost never) feel satisfied
after getting done with our
revenge. Im not talking
about feeling guilty here,
no! Its about not feeling the
happiness, the relief, the
satisfaction we expected to
feel in the first place. In fact,
we feel empty inside, unsat-
isfied. Its like we lost the
reason we wanted to get
our revenge for. At this point
we need to talk about the
reasons of our unsatisfac-
tion after the revenge. They
are basically two. The first
one is losing the big picture of things, specifi-
cally our revenge; and this, of course, ties in
with the idea of the revenge forest. Indeed, we
do lose the big picture of things when we are
busy plotting against our enemy, and eventually
start to deviate from the revenge line weve
drawn for ourselves at first. Consequently, we
get lost in different new intentions and plans;
especially if the revenge process takes long,
then well have enough time to deviate. The
reasons of our desire to avenge ourselves on
someone start to change, new ideas come in
the way, and if we try to look back we wouldnt
be able to recognize the starting line. Some-
times, though, we are so involved in and
focused on our revenge plan that we end up
overdoing it and making a bigger deal of it than
is necessary or reasonable, if I may say. The
second reason of our unsatisfaction is pride and
the fear of being thought weak. Let me be
clearer here. It happens sometimes that we no
more have this feeling of grudge; thus, the
desire to take our revenge on someone; we
even forgive our enemy, but inwardly, that is. In
other words, we do not want to admit it or act on
it; especially if weve already told someone
about our revenge plan. We hold onto that idea,
and it becomes impossible for us to let go off it.
Youre wondering why? I have already given the
answer pride. Ironically we are afraid of being
thought weak, nave and maybe silly. But since
when was forgiveness a
weakness?!!
The connection between
what I have stated and the
unsatisfation we feel after
getting done with our
revenge is, I suppose, too
obvious to need clarifica-
tion. Nevertheless, I will try
to make it more obvious.
When we lose our way in
the revenge forest we
would certainly feel emo-
tionally lost after avenging
ourselves on someone; we
would wonder at the situa-
tion we ended up in. Surely
we would feel unsatisfied,
for our revenge becomes
basically based on false,
sometimes illusory reasons.
As for when we refuse to give up the whole
idea of revenge or admit that we forgave the
one or those who hurt us, I suppose that is the
most obvious of the two reasons. In other
words, we keep and execute a revenge the
reasons of which we no longer believe in or are
convinced of; we force ourselves that is, and
that is enough to make us feel unsatisfied after
punishing the one we want to avenge ourselves
on; it may even make us feel guilty.
To finish with and as a mere advice, I would say:
get your revenge if you feel you deserve it, but if
you get lost on your way to it, or if you no longer
believe in the reasons of the revenge anymore,
pull out! Unless you are okay with the conse-
quences of it if you do.

All of us are language users.
Which language we choose to use
and how we use it determine the com-
munication pattern in a society. Thus,
languages change according to
certain features related to each soci-
ety. This is why linguists
tried to answer questions
such as: why do
languages change? And
what are these changes?
Many reasons
were recorded as factors
of languages variation.
On the one hand, large-
scale shifts occur in
response to social,
economic and political
pressures. History
records many examples
of language change
provoked by invasions, colonization
and migration. This is one way how
language may change. And the effect
on language over time is known as
diachronic change. On the other
hand, the needs of speakers
frequently drive language change.
New technologies, industries, prod-
ucts and experiences simply require
new words. Cell phones and the
Internet didnt exist in Shakespeares
time, for example. But the unique way
that individuals speak also fuels
language change. Thats because no
two individuals use a language in
exactly the same way. The vocabu-
lary and phrases people use depend
on where they live, their age, educa-
tion level, social
status and other factors. Besides,
since there is interaction between
people, they will find a compromise to
understand each other. This is called
accommodation.
There are two
types of accommo-
dation. For
example, a
teacher may use
simpler words and
sentence struc-
tures when he is
talking to a class
of young children.
It is called conver-
gence, a positive
change. Diver-
gence is when, for
instance, a person
may exaggerate their rural accent
because they are annoyed by the
attitude of someone from the city. It is
a negative change. This change is
done gradually, at first few people
speak few words and then it is spread
to a larger number of people and
words.
William Labov is an American
linguist who contributed a lot to socio-
linguistics. According to his studies,
there are two types of change. One
the one hand, language change from
above which is a change where
speakers identify with a higher class
and change to prestige forms. He took
the example of the use of the sound r

Stores. He ended up with the conclu-
sion that the higher the social group is,
the more likely speakers are to use r.
Moreover, speakers in Kleins used r
much more often in their emphatic
responses which were more carefully
pronounced than their first casual
reply. This shows their will to look like
high class. On the other hand, we

Labovs study was on the diphthongs
/aI/ and /au/ in the island Marthas
Vineyard. He noticed the use of stan-
dard American English by a part of the
population but also an increasing use
of centralized diphthongs /ei/ and /eu/
by a group of fishermen. This variation
is due to the will of natives to distin-
guish themselves from tourists who
visit the island each summer. Local
identity and status are primary motiva-
tions for this type of change.
However, it is surprising that
languages change. After all, they are
passed down through the generations
constantly enough for parents and
children communicate with each
other. Yet linguists find that all
languages change over time at differ-
ent rates and for different reasons.
Many present-day speakers find
Shakespeares sixteenth century texts
difficult and Chaucers fourteenth
century Canterbury Tales nearly

attitude to be able to get fluent. Familiarize
yourself with England, their politic, economic
life. If you are aiming to be a translator for
example, this is a very important point in your
career.
We decided that in our first edition we will
introduce this topic, and by next editions you
will have different job careers examples, that
may inspire you !
We will try to develop that, showing you , your
flaws, and your hidden potential .We will speak
about careers once you leave the English
department. And why not others that you may
be able to do. You learning English, doesnt
necessarily imply that you will work in that field.

We are very lucky to have
such a diversified and rich country
.Unfortunately nothing is done to
preserve and promote it .But if
certain have red newspaper or
watched TV they incontestably
have seen that Tlemcen was
elevated as capital of Islamic
culture for one year .The three
others capitals are Nouakchott
with Tlemcen for the Arabic world,
Jakarta for the Asian area and
Conakry for the African region.
Presentation:
If we know a lot about Tlemcen we
understand why it was choose to
be the capital of Islamic culture
.Tlemcen is one of the oldest cities
in the Maghreb and its situated on
the extreme northwest Algeria. Its
name Tlemcen is derivate from
Tala Imsane that means dry
spring in Berber .Tlemcen was
been a crossroads of several
ethnicities like Berber, Arabs,
Andalusians , French and other
people from Mediterranean
islands .So all these different
cultures influenced it deeply and
makes it what it is today .
History:
Tlemcen was founded by the
Romans in the 4th century and at
this time was named Pomaria that
means orchards in Latin .In 708
AD, Tlemcen became under the
Islamic rule after the conquest of
Oqba Ibn Nafi .The centuries after,
Tlemcen passed under the rule of
several successive dynasties: the
Almoravids in the 11th century, the
Zenata tribe in 1282 till the 15th
century, Spanish after the fall of
Andalusia, Ottoman in 1553 till
1671. After 1671 the city gained
and short independence from the
Ottoman state because in 1844
the city fall under the French
colonialism.
Culture:
Music: The main style of music
that dominates in Tlemcen is
Gharnati .The word Gharnati
derivates from the Arabic appella-
tion of the Spanish city of Gre-
nada. Gharnati is a variety of
Andalusian classical music .Its
generally executed in small groups
formed by musicians who are
instrumentalists and singers at the
same time. The major instrument
is Oudh (Andalusian guitar).
The most popular figures of Ghar-
nati are Cheikh El Ghafour, Cheikh
Larbi Bensari and Cheikh
Abdelkrim Dali.
Tradition clothes :
The Cheda is
known for being
the traditional
ceremonial dress,
for the Tlemcen
bridal .This dress
is formed by a silk dress with
embroidered pearls.Then women
wear around the waist a Tout
Mtaqqla with silk stripes and a
short pearled caftan . At the top ,
its a crown with a shape of cone
embroidered by a gold wire called
fetla . A necklace of gold and
precious pearls named Zerof and
another which covered the chest
called Johor .Theys also wear
great pearled earrings called
Lkorsa.

Tech Days
Is the biggest technology
event at the international level; it
