What exciting activities will you be undertaking during Healthy Eating Week?

Tell us about the activities you undertake for a chance to win a fabulous prize!

To celebrate BNF Healthy Eating Week 2014 there will be a competition to reward your work, finding
out how you are celebrating and promoting healthy eating, cooking and farming. Its a great way to
recognise and award good work by schools.

There are six 100 prizes available for the following three age ranges: 3-5, 5-11 and 11-16 (i.e. two prizes
per age group). Be creative and show-off your school!

Entries

Entries can be in any format, as long as you can email it to us, e.g. a presentation, photo montage or
short video (up to 3 minutes). Entries can also be uploaded to a file sharing site just send us the link!

We're looking for ...

Entries that are creative and innovative, highlighting excellence in the delivery of healthy eating, cooking
and where food comes from based on one of the healthy eating week themes.
Ideas that can help leave a legacy for pupils and teachers, bringing Healthy Eating Week to life and set a
good example for other schools to follow.
Entries that showcase class or group activities.
Why not start to prepare your entry now?
Challenge a group of pupils to create a video during the week of the different activities happening
around the school.
Ask classes to submit photographs and a short explanation about their activities for example,
combining them into a school montage in PowerPoint presentation.
Interview different year groups in your school about what healthy eating means to them combine
everything together!
Last years winners
Here are some examples of what the competition winners got up to during Healthy Eating Week 2013.
St Ursula's Catholic Junior School, Romford ran a healthy eating assembly and lots of activity ideas,
including tasting different vegetables.
Midpoint School, Wolverhampton created a breakfast recipe video, highlighting dishes that the students
had made.
Newark Orchard Special School, Newark made a healthy school lunch for everyone.
St Catherine's C of E Primary and Nursery School, Newton Abbot devised a lunchbox competition, tried
new foods, cooked and went on a visit to a local farm.
Scallywags Nursery, Caithness learned about where food comes from with a local chef and made and
sampled new foods.

Your entries
Entries should include the name of the school, the lead teachers name (contact person) and the theme.
Entries should be sent via email to Kim Down (k.down@nutrition.org.uk), attached or via a link to where
they are uploaded onto an online file sharing site. Entries attached to an email should not exceed the
size of 10MB, while those uploaded to an online file sharing site will be subject to the terms and
conditions of the site.
Entries should be sent by 11 June 2014.
The week has been developed by the British Nutrition Foundation and is supported by AHDB (BPEX,
EBLEX, DairyCo and Potato Council), the Garfield Weston Foundation, Red Tractor, the National Farmers
Union and Seafish.

Terms and Conditions

1. The Healthy Eating Week 2014 competition is open to all UK HEW registered organisations located in
England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales who have registered to take part in
www.healthyeatingweek.org.uk.

2. Entries must include the name of the school, contact person and theme.

3. Entries must be submitted via email to Kim Down at k.down@nutrition.org.uk, attached (up to 10MB
in size) or via a link to an online file sharing site (size subjected to terms and conditions of the site).

4. Entries must satisfy the criteria of the competition by showcasing creativity, innovation and
excellence in the delivery of healthy eating week activities.

5. By entering this competition, schools confirm that the entry is original work and agree that the entry
may be used in the development of resources which may be uploaded to the Food a fact of life
website (www.foodafactoflife.org.uk) without cost.

6. Schools must ensure that any photographs of students included in entries receive guardian/parental
permission.

7. Details of winning entries will be posted on the Food a fact of life website
(www.foodafactoflife.org.uk).

8. Six winners will be selected. Each winner will receive a 100 prize to support healthy eating, cooking
and physical activity work in their school.

9. Winners of the competition may be asked to participate in publicity relating to this promotion.

10. The prize, in the form of a cheque, will be sent to schools within one month of the winner being
notified.

11. The contact person submitting the entry will be responsible for administering any prize awarded to
their school.

12. The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

13. The owners of the competition reserve the right to impose further conditions at the time any award
is being made.

14. Entries must be sent by 5pm on the 11 June 2014.

15. By entering, all entrants agree to abide by each and all of these terms and conditions.
