SUBJECT: Overhead Cover Housing
Transition Update & Reminders
DATE: 05-09-2013

This is the third in a series of staff notices providing information about the ongoing
phased transition of BDSC-based personnel to the new Overhead Cover Main Life
Support Area (wet and dry) housing units.

Status

The Phase One move into Wet CHU pods 1 to 4 and Dry CHU pod 1 and 4 is
complete. The Phase Two move into Wet CHU pods 5 to 7 and Dry CHU pod 5 is
complete.

The initial Phase Three move into Wet CHU pod 10 is expected to begin on/around
May 12, 2013. The Phase Three move into Dry CHU pods 2 and 3 is expected to
begin late June or July. The final round of Phase Three moves into wet CHU pods
8, 9, 11 and 12 is expected to begin in August or September 2013.

Laundry units in wet CHU pods 1and 5 and Dry CHU pod 5 are now open and
available for use.

Reminders

Reminder -- Quiet Hours

BDSCs Residential Area quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM (2200 hours
0700 hours). During quiet hours, noise must be kept to a minimum; radios,
stereos, and televisions must be played at lower volume levels. Residents are
expected to be especially considerate to their neighbors and the other residents
during these hours. That said, as a 24/7 facility, we have day sleepers at BDSC.
Please be cognizant of your neighbors work schedules and let them catch much
needed sleep during their down time.

Reminder Smoking Policy

Smoking is prohibited in all CHUs, and in all common areas within the LSA T-
walls. Smoking is allowed at least 25 feet away from the LSA CHU pods.

Please do not toss your cigarette butts on the ground and instead use the cigarette
butt cans located throughout the exterior grounds around the LSAs.

Reminder - Parking, Speed Limits, and Bicycles

General parking is prohibited on the roads surrounding the CHU pods.
Maintenance and emergency vehicles are authorized to access the roads in the
conduct of business. Only emergency response vehicles are authorized to park in
designated parking areas within the LSA compound.

The LSA compound speed limit is 5 MPH. This is equivalent to a brisk walking
pace. Most people can out run a car traveling at this speed. Inside the vehicle, this

feels almost like youre not moving at all. It is equivalent to putting a vehicle with
automatic transmission in gear, taking your foot off the break, and applying no gas.

Bicycle riding is prohibited within the LSA compound. Riders should walk their
bikes to the main road or DFAC parking lot. Bicycles should be parked outside the
T-walls.

Reminder Garbage Cans

Please use the green roll-away garbage cans placed throughout the LSA to toss
your refuse and garbage.

Reminder Excess/Unwanted Furniture Drops

Occupants are responsible for removing any unwanted furniture and furnishings
from their rooms into pre-positioned CONEX containers on the side of Wet CHU
pod 5 and between wet CHU pods 7 and 8. Please do not leave unwanted items
out in the walkways or on the sidewalks outside the T-walls.
