Mumbai, October 17 th , 2014: Hon. Prime Minister of India Shri Narendrabhai Modi will inaugurate Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital & Research Centre on Saturday 25 th October 2014. Located in the heart of South Mumbai, the hospital in its 90 th year, has been completely rebuilt by Reliance Foundation, led by its Chairperson Smt. Nita Ambani into a most-modern 19- storey tower and two heritage wings.
Founded in 1925 as Mumbais first general Hospital, it has a rich heritage. It witnessed the freedom struggle and the Second World War and one of the most frequent visitors then was our Father of the Nation Respected Mahatma Gandhi. The Hospital celebrated its Silver J ubilee with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as its Chief Guest and the Golden J ubilee celebrations was graced by Lok Nayak J ayaprakash Narayan. Now, in its 90 th year, the Honorable Prime Minister is gracing the inauguration of this hospital.
This hospital has collaboration with J ohn Hopkins, MD Anderson Cancer Centre, Massachusetts General Hospital and University of Southern California. This hospital has state-of-the-art operation theaters equipped with robotic surgery and on-line video conferencing enabling live consultations with specialists across the world, a hybrid cath-lab Indias first for emergency heart operations, state of the art diagnostics facility with Asias first new generation CT scan. The hospital is equipped with high-end Obstetrics & Gynaecology services and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and a learning centre, adapting the Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations.
The general wards of the hospital will have the same level of treatment for the citizens at the bottom of the pyramid.
The Hospital has an outreach program that currently covers over 310,000 individuals in the vicinity providing preventive and primary healthcare on a digital platform virtually free of costs.
The hospital has initiated steps to adopt the nearby congested areas as part of Prime Ministers call of Swachch Bharat Abhiyan.
The Hospital has adopted water recycling and rainwater harvesting making it the greenest healthcare facility in India of its size.
The hospitals digital initiatives include RFID tags for patients, end-to-end digitization of medical records and real-time remote access to these records adopting the vision of Digital India of the Honorable Prime Minister.
