Please limit your response to each of the following questions to about 75 words.

1. Why should Oregonians elect you? What specific traits would you bring to the office?

My skill set as a physician and former small business owner will help address the two biggest
issues we face as a nation: the economy and our healthcare system. I am willing to work across
the aisle to present commonsense solutions that address our record low labor force, our high
unemployment, and the fact that one-in-five Oregonians are now on food stamps. Changing the
path were on means changing the people we send to Washington.

2. What separates you from your opponent(s)? Be specific.

I am a first time candidate who has built a successful career working in the private sector, while
my opponent has spent the better part of two decades climbing the rungs of the political ladder.
Term limits are needed to help end a culture that is promoting self-service rather than public
service.

3. Please list five specific accomplishments that you have achieved in politics or civic
affairs:
First woman to graduate from my medical school program (UCLA Residency) as a
neurosurgeon
Elected President of the Oregon Medical Association; and President of the Medical
Society of Metropolitan Portland
Elected to the Board of Trustees of the American Medical Association
Awarded a Presidential citation from the Medical Society of Metropolitan Portland
American Cancer Society Relay for Life Recognition Award

4. How much will your General Election campaign cost (be specific)?

The Campaign does not disclose strategic information.

5. Have you ever been convicted of a crime, been disciplined by a professional licensing
board/organization or had an ethics violation filed against you? If so, please give the
details.

No

6. Have you ever filed for bankruptcy, been delinquent on your taxes or other major
accounts, or been sued personally or professionally? If so, please give the details.

No

7. What are the three most important issues you would address if elected, and how? (75
words for each issue)

A. Economy: Small business owners bring up the same complaints to me everywhere I go
their fear and uncertainty about what the federal government is doing in healthcare, their
struggles with its vast regulatory agencies, and the view that the changing tax climate is forcing
them to hunker down instead of expand. The federal government should be encouraging growth,
not hindering it. As a U.S. Senator, I will fight for Oregon small businesses and their employees.

B. Jobs: I have a plan to promote job growth with common sense solutions. I will advocate for
a top-to-bottom review of federal regulations to target and strip mindless red tape thats killing
jobs. We should simplify the tax code to ensure businesses are focusing resources on expanding
industry. Completing the Keystone Pipeline will create jobs here and across the nation. Finally,
we must replace the Affordable Care Act to end mandates that are slowing economic growth and
killing jobs.

C. Healthcare: Obamacare and Cover Oregon are a disaster. Some 150,000 Oregonians have
had their health insurance plans cancelled. Premiums have increased. Medicare Advantage
benefits for our states seniors have been cut. We need a patient-centered, market-based
methodology that puts healthcare in the hands of people rather than politicians. Its critical that
Oregon elect a senator who understands Obamacare and is willing to work across party lines to
replace it with real healthcare reform.

8. What do you see as other important issues?

Education: One-size-fits-all federal education mandates wont work to improve our schools. I
will take on Common Core standards and promote policies that empower our states, teachers and
local communities. Expanding options for charter schools, creating vouchers or tax credit
programs for private schools, flexible funding for low-income districts, distance learning,
enhanced vocational training and other approaches all need to be explored.

Spending and Debt: We have a national debt of $17 trillion and growing. If we dont do
something to install fiscal restraint our entire country will end up like Greece or Detroit. Senator
Merkleys answer is even more federal spending and higher taxes on small businesses,
entrepreneurs and other jobs creators. My answer is putting in place a balanced budget
amendment.

9. Any skeletons in your closet or other potentially embarrassing information that you
should disclose before it comes up in the campaign? Anything (including health issues) that
would affect your ability to serve your full term? Any changes in your life situation that are
contemplated or expected before the election or before you would take office?

No

Thank you. Please return this questionnaire to the Editorial Board as an attached Word document to
