Montgomery Village is a planned community that was started in
1965 and is approaching its 50th anniversary. The Village includes
2,435 acres and has 40,000 residents. The Montgomery County
Planning Department is initiating a Master Plan for Montgomery Village,
which has never been the subject of a discrete, individual master plan effort.
This is an excellent time to examine the issues the Village and its residents face, including the proposed redevelopment of the golf course,
the potential for reinvestment in the Village Center and other neighborhood retail nodes, the future of the gateway site, and the
appropriate zoning for the Village. This Master Plan will be developed with the help of residents as well as business and property owners
from the area. All are invited and encouraged to attend the October 1 kickoff meeting.
