Dear Contestant,

Welcome to the family of the Miss HIV Awareness Pageantry System. Here we will
crown the Queen to reign supreme and be the face of the fight against HIV in Portland. This will
also serve as a year long commitment to prevent HIV infections, support and empower people
affected and infected by HIV/AIDS, and eliminate HIV/AIDS-related stigma" by volunteering at
Cascade AIDS Project. This year's pageant will be one to remember, the pageant will be held
November 30
th
2014 at Darcelle XV Showplace. Hope to see you there.

Categories

1. Evening gown - Evening gowns must a shade of red and be full length. The gown must ft well, the
contestant must model it elegantly, and all of the elements (hair, make-up,
accessories, shoes, and gown) must come together for an overall look that makes the contestant
look his very best.

2. Theme - Condom Couture: This category can feature a range of dresses and accessories entrely of
condoms. BE CREATIVE the judges have been asked to educate themselves about current fashion, and
contestants should be aware that a costume, though beautful, may be outdated and therefore not
score as well as it might otherwise.

3. Queston & Answer - At this point contestants will each be asked a queston surrounding HIV pre-
venton in there community. The contestant will be judged on there interacton with the audience,
speaking ability, answer quality and personality.

4. Talent - Talent may be any type of entertainment presentaton as long as it does not create any dan-
ger or injury to either the contestant or anyone else. No animals or reptles may be used in your talent
presentaton. You may not use fre of any kind, water, liquids including paint or gliter in your
talent presentaton. Talent presentatons that contain racial slurs or excessively vulgar,
obscene or insultng language should be avoided. The judges will consider the contents of
talent presentatons when scoring them. Talent presentaton is limited to fve (5) minutes in
length. Prop setup and tear down tme is limited to 3 minutes total. There is no restricton on the
number of people who may be involved in the presentaton. At the registraton meetng, dancer tckets
($5.00) must be purchased for all dancers in the talent presentaton. If they do not have a pass, they
may not appear in your talent number.

Evening Gown 1 to 10 points
Theme 1 to 10 points
Q&A 1 to 10 points
Talent 2 to 20 points
Maximum possible points 50 points
Rules & Regulations
1. Miss HIV Awareness contestants must be at least 21 years of age and able to show proof of age. If
you do not have a state issued ID you will not be allowed to enter.
2. Judging for pageant will be on a total point's accumulated system. Any tes will be broken by the
contestant with the highest talent score.
3. Contestants will be judged in the following categories:

4. Talent presentaton will be limited to fve (5) minutes. Prop setup and knock down tme will be
limited to three (3) minutes total. Talent presentaton should be tmes and marked before music is
turned in at rehearsal. Presentatons over fve (5) minutes may have points deducted. Any type of tal-
ent presentaton is acceptable, except those which may cause injury to the audience or any other per-
son. No gliter, fre of any kind, water or liquids including paint may be used in any talent presentaton,
No live animals or reptles may be used in a talent presentaton. Talent presentatons that contain ra-

er the contents of talent presentatons when scoring them.
Music must be turned in on CD. You should have your talent number recorded as Track 1 of
your CD Do not place any other music on this CD. You may not use commercial CD's that have multple
tracks. The use of, or dispensing of illegal drugs or marijuana will not be tolerated while a contestant is
partcipatng in the Miss HIV Awareness Pageantry System. Immediate disqualifcaton will result for
those that break this rule. Any contestant that is not in the appointed place at the appointed tme may
lose points. Any contestant, contestant's dancer(s), helper(s), etc. who is caught in the act of stealing
or tampering with another person's possessions will be immediately disqualifed and removed from the
pageant.
The Miss HIV Awareness Pageantry system does not discriminate against entertainers with sili-
cone and/or hormones. The use of silicone and/or hormones will not be considered by any judge in the
scoring of contestants.
This Pageantry System reserves the right to make any decision concerning any mater not covered by
these rules and regulatons.
Miss HIV Awareness will be required to sign a volunteer contract and have a background check
completed with Cascade AIDS Project no later than ten(10) days of coming to the ttle. Failure to sign
the contract will mean forfeiture of the ttle. Within 7 days of winning the contest, Miss HIV Awareness
must have and maintain an e-mail address and cell phone for the entre length of their reign.

Additional Points
All tps collected during the talent porton of the pageant will be added to the contestants score at the
end of the pageant in these increments.
$1 to $30 = 1 point
$31 to $50 = 2 points
$51 to $70 = 3 points
$71 to $90 = 4 points
$91 and above = 5 points

CONTESTANT Dresser
Each contestant for the Miss HIV Awareness Pageant has the privilege of one personal dresser. This is
the only person that you can get in for free. This person is here to help ensure that you have every-
thing you need to have a positve and enjoyable tme during your pageant experience.
