It is 2050 AD, India has been at war with its neighbors for the

past few years. The tensions had been rising since the turn of
the century, but by 2047 AD, war was inevitable. Pakistan had
already been defeated and now only China was still standing. The
Indian army, led by General Maximus, was within touching
distance of Beijing. The battle of Beijing would be the last
battle of this terrible war. The war was about to end soon, and
peace would follow throughout the Indian subcontinent, this is
what General Maximus thought! Far away from this bloodied battle
zone, India had been turned into a totalitarian state due to the
war. This was the first time, after Independence that the
government was being ruled by the President since the 1970s when
Indira Gandhi had enacted the emergency. The largest democracy
in the world was no longer a democracy. Yet, the president did
not want to become a dictator! He wanted democracy and the
republic to be restored, but for that, the war had to end first!
For peace, for freedom, for republic and for democracy, the war
had to be won first.

General Maximus, was an amazing commander and tactician. His
brilliant planning and strategies had helped the Indian army,
navy and air-force win battles after battles despite being
surrounded by much more powerful and technologically advanced
enemies. Thanks to his brilliance, the Indian army was miles
away from Beijing for once last decisive battle. This had to be
the final battle, armies of all the sides involved in the war
were now terribly exhausted from the war. Most of them were
injured and many of their comrades had died. They had to be
motivated for that one last time, that last time which could
ensure eternal peace in the whole subcontinent. This was war not
about greed or conquering. This war was truly for freedom and
security.

The General had a plan to surround Beijing with the huge Indian
armed forces, attack the Chinese reinforcements by the sea
through Bay of Bengal and an aerial assault on Beijing. The plan
worked. After an intense battle which led to huge losses of life,
Beijing fell and India had won. Was this the end of war? Would
this ensure peace throughout the subcontinent. Who except,
father time, can tell what the future holds.

The all conquering general was now a war hero. He was the
darling of the nation. The President, now old and weak, wanted
to hand over the government to him so he could bring back the
democracy. He had the loyalty of the army and the people. Who
else would be better to run the government for the short term
till the democracy was established again. This decision, of the
President wasn't well taken by his evil scheming son. He wanted
to rule the whole nation as a dictator. It was 2050, but yet the
President's son held hopes of becoming a President in the style
of an emperor. He reimagined himself as the great emperors of
the ancient times. He imagined himself as Emperor Asoka the
great, Emperor Chandragupta Maurya or Emperor Akbar. If power
was to given to him, democracy wouldn't restore, peace wouldn't
come, there would be more battles, more wars and more deaths. He
wanted to conquer the world through war, he wanted to rule the
world through war.

The evil son killed his father and framed the General for the
murder. He accused him of a coup and sentenced him to death,
also murdering his family. The general was sent to prison, and
next morning he was to be executed. The hero of the war was now
on death row for assassinating the president. In the middle of
the night, the general escaped from the prison with the help of
some of his still loyal supporters. He had been held in Prison
in New Delhi but he wouldn't be able to survive in Delhi. His
family had been killed, his home destroyed and he was branded a
traitor. Delhi was full of the President's secret service police.
The police was styled after the infamous SS of Adolf Hitler. The
police kept the population in check and under the control
through terror. There was no way possible that the general would
survive even the morning in Delhi.

The General had to escape Delhi, he had to cross the borders and
go somewhere in the south or the central part of India. The news
was yet not broken that the General had escaped. The media still
didn't know. The new President was sleeping peacefully in the
400 room majestic Rashtrapathi Bhavan at the heart of New Delhi,
he didn't have a clue that his biggest enemy had escaped and
would soon plot vengeance.

The General, had escaped to the Chambal jungle of Madhya Pradesh.
Once the news broke out, the President had deployed massive army
to find him and shoot him at sight. Yet, the jungle was too
dense and deep. It wasn't easy to find a man there. Even the
public, still loved him, after all the General won the war, they
knew that the media was controlled by the new President and all
the propoganda branding the general as an evil tyrant hadn't
really affected his image as a war hero.

The general had now met some bandits and outcasts in the jungle.
He wanted to train them as guerrilla rebels and overthrow the
President. He had to fight a war against his own people now. He
had won many battles, he was a decorated general, but now
fighting against his own very people would be his most difficult
battle after all. His rebels were small in number, just maybe
hundreds and his enemy commanded an army of thousands. There was
no chance, but the general wanted vengeance. He wanted justice
for his murdered child and wife. He wanted to bring back
democracy and freedom. He wanted to end the war!
