Dear Sir or Madam,

I am Robert Garcia and I am a third year student at the University of Madrid (Spain) where I
carry out my Environmental Science degree. I am writing to you because I wish to apply for an
exchange students place in your university. I would like to stay in Calgary during the next
academic year in order to do some courses together with my final year project.
The Mount Royal University was founded more than one hundred years ago and it is definitely
a really good university where I could achieve a great experience for the benefit of my
education. I am particularly interested in energy issues and the management of natural
resources. Canada is a large country plenty of natural landscapes and unique environments so I
think it is one of the most suitable places to study Environmental Science. In addition, I am
studying at a language school in order to get the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English.
Without a doubt, living in an English speaking country would greatly help me to improve my
English skills.
Apart from the academic benefits, living in a different country is a great opportunity to learn
its culture and social customs. It also would give me the chance to make new friends from
diverse ethnic and national backgrounds. Whats more, living in Canada would be an
extraordinary experience since American way of life is pretty different from the Europeans.
In short, I think that study abroad is a wonderful experience that would help me grow
academically, personally and prepare me for my career.
Yours sincerely,

Robert Garcia
