Hi Christine, here is what Vikki was able to find.
We have a donated book on the O'Neaii's in
three volumes. I have included a sheet on the numbering system that was used. (Personally I don't like it.) Vikki has starred the names that come into your line. She has also copied the family group sheet of a John E. O'Neall that matches up with the dates you provided us for your John E. It lists his wife as Mary A. E. which could stand for Mary Ann Elizabeth. If that is correct, then John E.'s father could possibly be the William E. O'Neal we found in the History of Clinton County. (Clinton County is the county just east of Warren County, and Waynesville is in the eastern part of Warren County, so we are geographically close.) The dates in the Clinton County History do not match up with the dates in the O'Neall genealogy, but the names do match up. Unfortunately, a John E. is not listed as one of their children. Unfortunately, this information seems to leave many unanswered questions. The O'Neaii's in Waynesville were Quakers. If you have information that links your family to the Quakers, you might want to contact Wilmington College. The Watson Library on campus has the original minutes of the Miami Monthly Meeting which was centered here in Waynesville. I do not think they do free research, but there might be someone who could look at the minutes during the timeframe you looking at and see if there is any mention of the names you are looking for. Good luck in your research! Linda Swartzel and Vikki Brown jfl.. For more complete information see these Family Groups, which follow. The whole numbers in this listing indicate the chronological birth of that child in that particular family. The exponent indicates the generation, with Hugh O'Neall being generation one. For example; On page 36, middle of the page, is shown 2^ John O'Neall m. Mary Rushton (1) (1813-1897) (1840) (1820-1841) This indicates that John O'Neall is the second child of Charles and Charlotte (Abney) O'Neall (page 35) and that he is a fourth generation O'Neall, so he is a great grandson of Hugh O'Neall (Generation One). It also shows that John was born in 1813 and died in 1897. In 1840 he married Mary Rushton, who was his first wife. Mary was born in 1820 and died in 1841. Their first child was Sarah O'Neall, who married George Walter O'Neill. The numbers with exponent 6, following Sarah, show that she had seven children. On page 39 it shows that Sarah's sixth child, Nannie Hattie O'Neill married A. H. (Kim) Dunn, and the Dunn's sixth child is Lenis Prior Dunn, with whom I share the same birthday. This can be checked on his and my Family Group sheets. And that is how it goes! O'NEALL FAMILY TREE ^ 1 Hugh O'Neill" ra. Anne Cox (1698-1754) (1732) (1714-1764) ^ 1^ William O'Neall m.
