Re: Police shootings involving BB Guns, Pellet Guns, Toy Guns, Air Guns & Plastic Replicas

Attached are PPD summaries of 16 officer-involved shootings between 2007 & 2013 where BB guns, pellet guns, toy
guns or plastic replicas were used by offenders. I identified these cases after creating a searchable file of all shooting
summaries posted on the PPD website.
Offenders were killed by police in two incidents.
Officers discharged and struck the offender in eight (8) of the incidents, resulting in injuries.
PS# 07-27 involved juveniles. The officer discharged her weapon, but missed the offender.

In 3 incidents, pellet guns were involved in addition to more traditional firearms.
