With music blown into his breath by his father Late Pt. Malhar Rao
Kulkarni, Rupak has blossomed into an outstanding exponent of
Maihar Gharana under the finest tutelage of flute legend Padma
Vibhushan, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia.
As a Ganda Bandh Shagird of Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia, since the
age of 9, Rupak with vigorous training and hard work has mastered
Dhrupad, Khayal and Tantkari styles equally well. His recitals are
a treat combining Dhrupad and Khayal Gayaki. No wonder he is a
much sought after artist and his concerts are lauded by all music
lovers.
Rupak's first solo flute performance was at the age of 11 at Darbar
Hall, Baroda. Since then he has performed in almost all prestigious
music conferences all over India and abroad.

Hailing from a family of legendary Musicians, as the grandson of
the late Mridangam legend Sri Palghat Raghu and with the Lalgudi
lineage on the mother's side, Abhishek has music running in his
veins.
A child prodigy, Abhishek started learning the Mridangam from his
grandfather, winning accolades by the age of seven. By 1994, he
moved on to Vocal performances, with training under Vidwan Sri P.
S. Narayanaswamy.
Soon, he shot into eminence endearing himself to listeners and
critics alike with his performances marked by virtuosity, aesthetics
and intellect. He has been performing all over the country and
abroad.
As a brilliant young artiste, Abhishek Raghuram is a winner of
several awards and titles including the Yuva Puraskar by the
Sangeet Natak Akademi.

Pt. Rajendra Prasanna hails from the well-known "Banaras
Gharana" and is a master of Flute and Shehanai. He was groomed
by his grandfather Pt. Gauri Shankar and father Pt. Raghunath
Prasanna., who was the first to introduce the flute in Prasanna
Family. He was also guided by his uncles Pt. Bholanath Prasanna
and Pt. Vishnu Prasanna. One can see the use of "Gayaki Ang"
in his renditions. Pt. Rajendra Prasanna was also fortunate to have
received the blessings of Thumri Samrat Pt. Mahadev Prasad
Mishra of Varanasi, Padma Shri Ustad Hafeez Ahmed Khan and
Ustad Sarfaraz Hussain Khan, both of Rampur Seheswan Gharana.
His systematic 'Badhat' with an aesthetic approach has been one
of the main qualities of his presentations. A world renowned Flute
and Shehnai player, Pt. Prasanna has been honoured with
numerous national and international awards.

One of the most sought after and widely acclaimed vocalists, T V
Sankaranarayanan is the nephew and disciple of the maestro Madurai
Mani Iyer. Endowed with a rich and vibrant voice, he has evolved a style
of his own carved out of his striking originality and inimitable style of his
uncle and mentor Madurai Mani Iyer. His impeccable adherence to
Sruthi and projecting raga contours even while executing intricate laya
patterns is a hallmark of his music.
Born at Mayiladuturai in Tanjavur District of Tamilnadu,
Sankaranarayanan started learning music at the age of 5 from his father
T.S.Vembu Iyer and at 15 he began teaming up with him and also
assisting his Guru, an eminent Vocalist Madurai Mani Iyer on concert
platform. Soon, he became a full-fledged vocalist and a popular artiste.
He has now been in the field for over 3 decades.
T V Sankaranarayanan has performed all over the country and abroad
and is a recipient of several awards and titles which include the Central
Sangeet Natak Academy Award. He is also a recipient of Padma Bhushan
conferred by the Government of India.

Vidushi Rita Ganguly is one of the leading and popular vocalists of
the country. Born and brought up in Lucknow, graduated from
Shantiniketan, she has the privilege of being trained under three
outstanding gurus of Indian Classical Music, Pt. Shambhu Maharaj,
Vidushi Siddeshwari Devi and Begum Akhtar. She honed her skills
in Khayal rendering from Pt. Mani Prasad and got training of
Dhrupad singing under the tutelage of doyen Pandit Gopeshwar
Bandopadhyaya. Having performed all over the world with her rich
repertoire, she has been regaling her audience for the past five
decades. She has many awards to her credit including Padmashree
by the Govt. of India and sangeet Natak Akademi award.

Hailing from a music family steeped in tradition, Sriram Parasuram
started learning Violin at the age of 4 initiated by his mother Smt.
Parvathy Parasuram. Later, he came under the tutelage of stalwarts
like Shri K.S. Narayanaswamy, Shri Krishnamurthy Bhagavatar,
Prof. T N Krishnan and Prof. S R J anakiraman. He gave his first
performance at the age of 8.
An adept in Hindustani style of playing on Violin and also a master
in Western Music, Sriram Parasuram has been enthralling
audiences with his brilliant and splendid performances all over the
country and abroad winning wide acclamation.
A winner of several honours and awards, Sriram is also a noted
musicologist and has made many successful forays into the fields
of J azz and popular music. He holds a degree in Mechanical
Engineering and an MBA from IIM, Kolkata.

A renowned Sitar player, Nishat Khan, son and disciple of Ustad
Imrat Khan is known for spellbinding technical mastery over the
instrument, coupled with melody, provocative expression and a
uniquely invigorating style. He started performing from the age of 7.
Nishat Khan has also mastered western classical music; J azz &
Flamenco and has performed with eminent performers and
composers. He has participated in many prestigious international
music festivals and has many awards to his credit, keeping up the
rich tradition of his performance pioneered by his forefathers in an
unbroken lineage of seven generations.

Lahari Kolachela hails from a family of musicians. At the age of 3,
she drew the attention of many veteran musicians as a child
prodigy of music spelling out the notation of ragas sung by them.
Lahari had sound training in Carnatic music from her musician
mother Dr. Saraswati Vidyardhi. Later, she received advanced
training from the veteran musician "Sangita Kalanidhi" Dr. Nedunuri
Krishnamurthy, for over a decade and emerged as a much sought
- after performing artiste among younger generation of Carnatic
musicians and has been performing extensively in India and abroad.
Besides being a Post graduate in Music, Lahari is a Mechanical
engineering graduate and holds MBA in Finance and Marketing.

Son of Pandit Vinayachandra Maudgalya, Madhup learnt initially
from his father and later under the veterans Vasant Thakar and
Pandit J asraj. But, the abiding influence on his art has been that
of his mentor and Guru Pt. Kumar Gandharva, which has given a
fine balance between tradition & innovation.
Madhup has been performing at important platforms all over the
country and abroad keeping up the high degree of classicism,
musical sensibility and innovative techniques. He is an acclaimed
conductor and a brilliant composer of choral music, besides being
a dedicated teacher and Principal of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. He
has also won several awards for his meritorious performances
including the Padmashree by the Govt. of India.

One of the talented young Violinists from Kerala, Harikumar was
initiated into the art by his father Shri S. Sivan at the tender age
of 7. He got an opportunity to learn Vocal from Smt. Anantha
Lekshmi Venkitaraman and later came under the tutelage of Violin
Maestro Chalakkudy Narayana Swami and also the renowned
Violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam. He gave his first concert at the age
of 9.
Having developed a unique style of performing on the Violin,
Harikumar has been accompanying many senior artists besides
giving solo concerts and participating in fusion concerts. He has
also many titles and awards to his credit.

One of the well-known Mridangam artistes with a standing of over
40 years in the field, Trichur Narendran started performing at age
of 10, accompanying stalwarts of that time. Born in a reputed
music family, he was initiated into the art by Shri Kongorppilly
Parameshwaran Namboodiri at the age of 7. He was further
groomed by Shri David Bhagavatar, Shri E.P. Narayana Pisharodi
and Shri Koduvayur Radhakrishanan. It was under the Maestro
Palghat R Raghu, his skills were honed and he could attain
mastery over the art.
Narendran has accompanied many stalwarts besides participating
in many percussion ensembles in his long career. His playing on
the Mridangam is known for a fine blend of intricate rhythmic
patterns, sense of proportion, sharp anticipation and soft strokes.
He is a recipient of several awards and titles for his brilliant
performances. He has also served All India Radio as a Staff Artist.

Suresh Bapat started learning music at the age of 10. His initial
Gurus were Smt. Leela Shelar, Late Bhaskarao Pathak, Achyut
Abhyankar thereafter he came under the guidance of popluar
Vocalist Pt. Prabhakar Karekar. For the last 18 years he is under
the tutelage of the great musicologist & exponent of Gwalior, Agra
& J aipur Gharana, Dr. Ashok Ranade. He has developed his own
style by years of vigorous Riyaz & learning from his Gurus. The
method of developing a Raga with systematic Alaap, layakari &
tans with different patterns 'Bol Banav' is the hallmark of Suresh's
Gayaki. He has many awards to his credit.

Born in a music family from Tiruvarur near Tanjore, Thiagarajan
learnt flute from his father flute maestro Dr. N. Ramani. He also
learnt violin from his grandmother Smt. Sharada Natesan.
With his innovative techniques in playing on the flute, classical
purity of high order coupled with melody, Thiagarajan has been
performing all over the country and at prestigious events abroad and
also has accompanied legendry musicians in their concert. He has
been training a number of students and also has won several
awards and titles for his brilliant performances.

Hailing from a music family, V.N. Balachandar had training in the
art of playing on the Thavil initially from his father Vanala
Narasimhulu and later came under the tutelage of eminent Vidwans
like Aathmakumar R.Ramiah, Nidumaanuru Lakshminarayana and
Thiruchcharai T.G. Muthukumara Swamy Pillai.
Shri Balachandar has accompanied many veterans on Thavil and
has received acclamation from both listeners and critics. He is also
a recipient of several awards and titles for his brilliant performances
known for scholarship, tonal quality and variety in presentation.

Ramesh Prem is one of the few living exponents of a rare and
almost extinct instrument "Vichitra Veena", it is as ancient as the
Indian Culture.
Ramesh Prem had the good fortune of learning the Vichitra Veena
from Ustad Mohammed Sharif Poonchwale. Later he had advanced
training from Pt. J iwan Lal Mattoo, the Senior most disciple of Khan
Saheb Abdul Wahid Khan of the Kirana Gharana.
He is known for maintaining purity and the spirit of the Raga.
Especially noteworthy are his innovations in Alap and Rhytnm.
Ramesh extracts the best tonal quality from his instrument and
produces resonance that sustains amazingly well. He has participated
in a number of music conferences in India and Abroad.

Ustad Najmuddin Quadri hails from a distinguished family of
musicians. Inspired by his father Late Mohd. Vazir, a famous
Classical Vocalist, he emerged as an accomplished Tabla player
under the tutelage of the renowned Tabla Maestro Ustad Shaikh
Dawood Khan Saheb. He is still pursuing the technical intricacies
and finer aspects from the renowned Tabla maestro- Padma Shri P.
Suresh Talwalkar of Mumbai. He had the privilege to provide
accompaniment on table to the legends like Ustad Rashid Khan,
Pt. Briju Maharaj, Dr. M. Balamurali Krishna and the great Ghazal
Singers Ustad Ghulam Ali and Ustadi Mehdi Hasan of Pakistan to
name a few. He has toured extensively in India and abroad. His
versatility and unique style has attracted all classes of music lovers
which won him the best compliments from classical music critics,
Musicologists and connoisseurs. He is a recipient of several State
Government Awards and has also been felicitated by the renowned
organisations in the country and abroad. Presently he is working as
a staff artist of AIR, Hyderabad.

One of the leading Veena artistes, Saraswati Rajagopalan had her
initial training from Smt. Radhamani Sharma of Karaikkkudi
Sambsasiva Iyer school and had advanced training from the
maestro Shri K.S. Narayanaswami and Shri T.S. Raghavan of
Delhi. She has been performing from the age of 12.
Saraswati Rajagopalan has been enthralling layman and
connoisseurs alike by her performances marked by classical
values, tonal quality, scholarship and reflection of Gayaki Ang. She
is also a recipient of several awards including the Kalaimamani by
the govt. of Tamilnadu.

Harish Tiwari started his musical journey under the guidance of
Thakur Choubey of Deoria, Uttar Pradesh. Pursuing his musical
and academic career he reached Banaras and was guided by
Acharya Ajeet Bhattacharya and Acharya Nandanji, the disciples of
Pt. Onkar Nath Thakur at the Banaras Hindu University. Acharya
Kundanlal Sharma taught him the elements of Shyamchaurasia
Gharana of Punjab. He had the passion and longing to learn the
Kirana Gharana style of Pt. Bhimsen J oshi, who agreed to accept
Harish Tiwari as a disciple under Guru Shishya- Parampra.
Harish Tiwari has earned many a laurels for his performances.
Presently, he is on the staff at the Music Department of Delhi
University.

Born in Dhaka, Bangladesh in a family of distinguished Sitarists,
young Kartick was initiated into his family's musical lineage by his
father. Pt. Mangalchandra Das, then a leading Sitarist. His musical
quest continued under Pandit Manoranjan Mukherjee one of the
renowned Sitarists of Bengal.
Later on, he became the disciple of Pt. Ravishankar under whose
intensive tutelage blossomed the Sitar virtuoso, Kartick Kumar. He
is endowed with an exquisite sense of Ragadari, Akapkari and
Laykari. He has carved a niche for himself among the creative
exponents of Senia Gharana.
Though largely known across the world as a Sitarist, Pt. Kartick
Kumar is also one of the few living maestros of Surbahar, an
instrument he has learnt from the legendary Annapurna Devi, the
daughter of Baba Allauddin Khan.
Kartick Kumar was awarded scores of medals and laurels
culminating into most coveted President's Gold Medal for the best
instrumentalist of the year in 1958.

Born in Indore, Kalpana is an accomplished classical singer and
carries the rich heritage of Ustad Rajjab Ali Khan through her father
and Guru Shri Krishna Rao Majumdar. Gifted with an extremely
melodious voice Kalpana's highly imaginative combination of
swaras are pleasing and appealing to knowledgeable listeners as
well as to those, not familiar with the intricacies of classical music.
Besides intensive training in Khayal Gayaki under her father, she
has taken guidance from Sushila Pohankar and Shiv V U Rajurkar
in other musical forms. Kalpana has an equal command over the
classical and light classical styles of music. She renders Khayal
as well as Thumri, Tappa and Bhajan with equal ease. She has
been performing for the past 30 years and has won many awards

Mishra started his training in Sitar at a very early age under the
tutelage of his father Pt. Manu Lal Mishra. Later, he continued his

Born in J aipur - Rajasthan, Madhu Bhatt is an ardent follower of her
Guru and father Pt. Laxman Bhatt Tailang, a well-known Dhrupad
Singer. She has practiced this difficult art from the age of five. She
is the only lady signer of this tradition in Rajasthan. Her family has
maintained the Dhrupad Tradition for the last eight generations. Her
Grand-fathers Pt. Gopalji Bhatt and Pt. Gokual Chandra Bhatt were
the great musicians of this tradition. She also got training and
guidance from her musician mother Smt. Vimla Bhatt and elder
sister Dr. Nisha Bhatt Tailang.
She has performed in major national and international music
festivals and has received several national and international awards.

Born in a music family, Harashankar Bhattacharya, a leading
Sitarist, began learning sitar from his father Pt. Ganga Shankar
Bhattacharya and started playing at the tender age of five. After that
he was under the guidance of Pt. Murali Dhar Thakur of Bishnupur
Gharana, Burnpur. His grandfather was Lal Mohan Bhattacharya, a
renowned sitar player.
From the year 1968, he started taking Taleem under the Gurkul
System from the legendary musician Padma Bhushan Ustad Abdul
Halim J affer Khan Sahab of Indore Gharana, familiar for Beenkaar
Style.
He has received many awards and honours for his performances
and has toured all over the country and abroad winning accolades.

Shanti Hiranand was literally born to music in the culturally vibrant
city of Lucknow. She started her training in music at the Music
College of Lucknow. She reached a turning point in her life in the
year 1952, when she met her guru, guide and mentor, the legendary
Begum Akhtar who decided to take her as disciple. In Shanti, she
saw the glimmerings of a unique talent and she took it upon herself
to chisel that and present it to the world. Shanti spent long years
with her guru, imbibing her music style and learning a whole new
way of life, accompanying her to performances, concerts and
conferences. Cherishing every precious gem of learning that her
guru showered on her, she enriched her music immensely.
For her contribution to the field of music, she has been honoured
by many awards including Padma Shri by the Govt. of India.

Born in a family of traditional Shehnai players, Hari Singh had a flair
for music from his childhood. He received initial training from his
father Late Shri Kherati Lal at a very early age. Later, after rigorous
training and practicing for several years, he had the privilege of
learning Shehnai under the guidance of Shehnai Virtuoso, Guru Pt.
Anant Lal, a disciple of Pt. Mahadev Prasad Mishra of the "Banaras
Gharana". Hari Singh has given many successful performances all
over the country and abroad.

Somanath Mardur is one of the foremost performing Hindustani
Vocalists of the country. Born in Mardur village in Haveri District,
Karantaka, he started learning music at the age of 8 from Pt.
Veerappaiya Swami. Then he moved to Gadag to continue his
career in Music and had the good fortune of receiving systematic
and advance training from Padma Bhushan Pt. Puttaraj Gawaiji.
Later, he came under the tutelage of Padama Bhushan Pt.
Basavaraj Rajguru and Padama Bhushan Pt. Mallikarjun Mansur
which made him attain high degree of proficiency and mastery.
Somanath Mardur, with a melodious voice and an attractive style of
presentation of Khayal, has established himself as prominent
musician in the realm of Indian Music.

Akkmahadevi Math is a renowned violinist of the country. Born in
Dharwad in a family of musicians, she was initiated into music by
her father Pt. Gadagayya S. Hire Math who was a well-known Tabla
player. Later on she received training in Violin from Pt. B.S. Math
who is an acclaimed violinist.
An artist of Kirana Gharana, Akkmahadevi Math is an expert in both
Gayaki Anga as well as Tantrakari. Fine bowing, rich tonal quality
and fingering techniques are her forte. She is equally proficient in
Thumri rendering. She is a recipient of several awards.

Pt. Krishna Ram Chaudhary belongs to a family of famous
musicians of Banaras. The musical environment of the family
enabled him to imbibe the best in Indian musical traditions and
paved the way to achieving proficiency and perfection in his chosen
field. He began his professional career in Shehnai playing at the
age of twelve. He started receiving training under the guidance of
his father Buddha Lal Chaudhary, a famous Shehnai player and
disciple of Pt. Bade Ram Das, a famous classical vocalist of India.
Further, he learnt from Pt. Mahadev Prasad Mishra. He also
received guidance from his uncle Late Ram Lal Sehra, the famous
music Director.
Krishna Ram Chaudhary is a very popular and excellent Shehnai
player and has received wide acclaim for representing the chaste
Hindustani and light classical Music. He has given performances in
many music conferences in India and abroad. He has received
many awards including Sangeet Natak Academy Award from
Government of India in the year 2009.

Born in a family of musicians, Parkash Sangeet had his initial
training from his father Pt. Bhaskar Rao Sangeet who was a
vocalist of repute. In the early years of his learning Parkash had a
useful exposure to various Gharanas. He listened to all prevailing
styles and studied the genre critically and started evolving his own
style. With a rich and powerful voice and dedication, he developed
his own style and acquired proficiency.
His style of singing can be attributed predominately to Gwalior
Gharana and shows a strong influence of Patiala Gharana as well.
He is equally adept in his presentation of Thumri, Dadra, Tappa,
Bhajan.

Abhay Rustum Sopori was born in Srinagar and inherited a
profound sense of music from Sufiana Gharana of Kashmir, the
exclusive traditional Santoor Family. Abhay learnt music in a
traditional way from his grandfather Pt. Shamboo Nath Sopori, the
great Master musician hailed as the "Father of Music" in J ammu
and Kashmir and later from his father Pt. Bhajan Sopori, the
legendary Santoor virtuoso and music composer.
He is the youngest Santoor Maestro who has received many
Awards including prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for
youth artist. Mellifluous playing, lightning tempo, clarity and
accuracy of Raga exposition, are some of the characteristic
features of Abhay's performances.

Rao was born in a family of musicians from Odisha and had his
initial training from his father Sri Inupakurthi Krishana Rao and his
paternal uncle Inupakurthi Raja Rao and Sri Y. J agga Rao.
Presently, he is under the guidance of Sri G. Sriram Murthy.
Manmadha Rao has been performing under the auspices of reputed

Kasi Visalakshi hails from a family of Vainikas from Andhra
Pradesh with a rich tradition in the field of Carnatic Music. She
obtained her initial training from her mother Smt.Pappu Padmavati
Parmahamsa, a renowned Veena artist of Visakhapatnam.
She obtained her advanced training from Sangeetha Kalanidhi,
Padma Bhushan Dr. Mysore V. Doreswamy lyenger and Sri Mysore
C.Krishanamurthy.
She exhibits the sober tonal qualities of the rich Mysore Baani and
Vizianagaram School with emphasis on Sahityam and Bhaavam in
her renderings. Her unique fingering technique has won her
numerous accolades and critical acclaim.
She has been enthralling audiences both at home and abroad and
is a recipient of many awards and honours for her captivating
performances.

A Master Degree holder in Sanskrit Literature, she is presently
perusing her Doctorate in music. She has been a recipient of
several awards & titles including the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva
Puraskar from the Sangeet Natak Akademi and the J unior
Research Fellowship by the Ministry of Culture. She has also
released many CDs of different Composers & also on variety of
themes.
