a. Consider all the members of the group and compute the mean, median and mode.
b. Calculate the mean, median, mode for each hour.
c. Compare the calculated mean for each hour, which of the 3 averages should the manager use to convince her employers that the car park is
going to make a large profits? Write a short paragraph about the results.

ACTIVITY 2
Measures of Central Tendency for Grouped Data

1. Rev. Wesley, wishing to learn if the men or women of his flock were more pious, kept track of individual attendances at each of the 50 sermons he
gave last year. The attendance records revealed the following information:

No. of Sermons Attended Men Women
1 to 10 4 1
11 to 20 7 5
21 to 30 13 16
31 to 40 20 21
41 to 50 3 9

a. Compute the mean for each distribution.
b. Compute the median for each distribution.
c. Compute the mode for each distribution.
d. What conclusion can you draw from your analysis? Write a short paragraph about the results.

2. The following data represent the annual earnings of 200 families in two small barangays.

Annual Earnings (Php) Barangay Bayabas Barangay Chico
61,000 80,000 5 2
81,000 100,000 40 20
101,000 120,000 60 43
121,000 140,000 52 58
141,000 160,000 35 22
161,000 180,000 8 30
181,000 200,000 0 17
201,000 220,000 0 8

a. Compute the mean annual earnings for each barangay.
b. Compute the median annual earnings for each barangay.
c. Compute the mode annual earnings for each barangay.
d. Based on your results, compare and analyze the economic situations in these two barangays. Write a short paragraph about the
results.

ACTIVITY 3
Measures of Variability/Dispersion for Ungrouped Data

1. Compute the sample standard deviation, variance and range of the grades in Research II of the two groups of students (male and female).
Compare and write a short explanation about the results.

FEMALE 82 80 83 81 79 88 93 86 93 87

2. Find the population standard deviation, variance and range of the following sets of data.

ACTIVITY 1
Statistical Test (z-test)

1. Iron Deficiency The Food and Nutrition Board of the National Academy of Science states that the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of iron in adult
females under the age of 51 is 18 mg. Iron intakes for 45 randomly selected adult females under the age of 51 were obtained. At the 1% significance level,
do the data suggest that adult females under age 51, on average, get less than 18 mg of iron daily? Assume = 4.2 mg and x = 14.68 mg and the iron
intakes are ND. Critical value from z table: = 2.325
2. Researchers at the University of Maryland obtained body temperatures from 93 healthy Humans. At the 1% significance level, do the data provide
sufficient evidence to conclude that the mean body temperature of healthy humans differs from 98.6o F. Assume = 0.63oF and the sum of the 93
temperatures is 9125.5oF. Assume the temperatures are normally distributed. Critical value from z table: = 2.575
