*[.NOTE.]* This guide was written as though you will follow it from
beginning to end. Some people will play it like this, and some others
won't. So if you are just lost and need help in a certain section of the
guide, look through the titles to see what's familiar. When you find what
you're looking for, you may notice that I say something like, "You've
already been here before, so continue on through...", or something like
that. For that, you'll need to search back through the FAQ. All you should
have to do is search the name of the place you're at, like -Seika-, and
you will find all of the sub-sections in the town of Seika, as long as you
include the dashes before and after the name, because it will take you
straight to those sub-sections. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello, fellow RPG fans! Let me introduce myself. My name is Johnathan
Sawyer, but feel free to call me 'rhyxx' (sounds like 'ricks', if you were
wondering). Welcome to yet another strategy guide I have created, and this
time through, it's for a classic RPG for the Playstation, Suikoden.
*[.NOTE.]* Konami has decided to re-release this game, along with Suikoden
II to the PSP. From what I've read, the games' gameplay and content have
not changed much, so this guide should work along with it. The only problem
is this; Konami has not announced a release date or even a release for
here in the United States. Let's all hope that it does make it over here,

okay?
------Once there was a hero named Barbarossa - 'the Golden Emperor' - hero of
the Scarlet Moon Empire. But the sun is now setting on that Empire.
The day is silently drawing near. The 108 Star of Destiny are gathering.
The son of distinguished soldier Teo McDohl, on of the five Imperial
Generals, lives without want for anything, surrounded by his attendant
Gremio, his father's servants Cleo and Pahn, and his best friend Ted.
One day, Teo makes a trip to the north to protect his Empire. It is then
that the boy realizes his place in the Empire and sees the world with his
own eyes for the first time. A world filled with resentment toward the
Empire awaits...
------My purpose for this guide: To make sure that you are able to get a perfect
game, meaning that you can find all items, recruit all of the characters,
and see all there is to see. To sum it up; I will leave no stone unturned,
meaning that there will be spoilers, so beware.
For this guide, I have decided to do a direct walkthrough, which includes
the locations of all of the items in the game, the mini-games, recruiting
the 108 Stars of Destiny, and any/all side-quests. It won't be an
extensive FAQ, so don't expect to find item and armor lists or shop
prices. There are FAQs at GameFAQs that either specialize in this, or are
listed in other FAQs like this one.
I'm 99% sure that I have found everything in the game that can be found.
However, if for some reason I have left something out that should be in
here, feel free to email me at rhyxx.FAQ@gmail.com to let me know. I've
been working on this guide for years, so I have put a lot of work into
this, and I want it to be as complete as possible. I still welcome all

After you put in the disc, press start, then start a new game. You'll have
to choose a name for the Hero of the game. Pick whatever name you want.
For this guide, I will refer to him as Hero or "you". I'd use rhyxx, but
that'd be confusing for those who don't read this paragraph and just
search through the guide like many of you do.

*[.NOTE.]* For those of you who play Suikoden II, or will use this data
for Suikoden II, let me tell you something. When you load data to Suikoden
II from this game, the name of the Hero of Suikoden I will also carry
over. The bad part is that only the uppercase letters carry over to the
default name, which is McDohl, the Hero's last name. According to many
sources I've read, such as Suikosource.com, says that in the book, his
name is Tir McDohl. Now, I am usually picky enough to go along with the
books, so I usually name him Tir, but when you go to Suikoden II, his name
will become TcDohl, which is annoying. If you're like me, you can do one
of four things.

Name him McDohl, thus becoming McDohl McDohl.


Use a name that starts with "M".
Name him in all lowercase, so it's okay for me, since it's just rhyxx.
Name your character in all capitals, AS LONG AS it's as long or longer
than 6 letters, otherwise what letters are left will stay on. For me,
if I named him RHYXX like I'd like to do, it would become RHYXXl in
Suikoden II. You see what I mean?

It's the same with the castle. Its name will be Tora Castle in the
history books, so do what you need to when we get to that. Sorry about
basically devoting basically an entire section to it but I just thought
I'd let you know.
Things that you should know about Suikoden
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
% There are 108 characters in this game, with a majority of them usable
for battle.
% SQUARE is your menu. If you check, your characters have a label with
either S, M, or L, meaning Short, Medium, and Long range respectively.
Attackers with the S MUST be in the front row. M and L can be in either
one, and L attackers can attack the enemies back row. NP means Non
Playable.
% You CAN run in this game, but only if someone in your immediate party
as a Holy Rune equipped, or if Stallion is in your party with the True
Holy Rune. Otherwise, you have to walk all the time.
% To be able to use magic, you must equip a rune. To do this, you have to
visit a Rune Shop to attach it. You'll find many runes throughout the
game, but you can only buy runes at Item Shops. Some runes cannot be
removed, and some runes can only be attached to certain characters.
% You can only save at Inns or Journeyman's Crystals.
% You MUST visit every Item Shop and Armory you come across; by taking a
look at their items, you will be able to have them in stock later in the
game. Very important in the beginning at Gregminster.
% Many characters have Unite commands, meaning they can team up with other
members and do a combo in battle.
% In addition to the characters' Unite, you can also do combinations with
magic! If you cast a level 4 spell on two different runes during the
same round, they will cast them together to form a very powerful spell!
The runes that you can combine are these: Fire & Earth, Earth & Wind,
Wind & Water, Water & Lightning, and Lightning & Fire. Try it out!
% Even if your HP is full, you should rest at an Inn after leveling up
some because it's the only way to replenish your MP.
% During a battle, a character has to have a Sacrificial Buddha to be
revived; otherwise, they're down for the battle. After the battle, just
use a Medicine to replenish their HP. However, when you come across a
Resurrection Rune later in the game, you will be able to use a spell to
revive your characters in battle.

% In a Major Battle (a.k.a. a War Battle), if you see a message saying


that one of your characters has DIED, RESET your game. If someone's
dead, you will not be able to get all 108 Stars and the good ending.

in case, mainly as a reference.

You'll start off in the Emperor's Palace
[Bits] 100
in Gregminster. Talk to your father, Teo,
[Save Points] Hero's Desk, Inn and you'll be taken to an audience with
[Recruits] (1) Hero (M)
Emperor Barbarossa. After the chat
Ted (L)
between Teo, Barbarossa, and Windy, the Emperor
will decide to send Teo to the northern border to
protect it from the United City-States of Jowston. He'll give Teo his
sword, Prakk, and then he'll ask you if you would like to help the Empire
while Teo is away.
[1] Yes, Your Highness.
[2] I don't wanna.

Choose either one, and he'll be happy to hear


what you have to say. Commander Kraze will
assigned to watch over you, then you'll be wished
luck. You'll automatically head back a little ways before you gain
control.
Go right, up, then right and down the stairs. Go right and down some more
to have Teo tell you to introduce yourself to Kraze. Before you do that,
go right into this room and check the statue in the right corner; you'll
find [_100 BITS_] here. After you've grabbed that, go left and talk to
Kraze. After that, go back and talk to Teo, and you'll head back home.
Back at home, Gremio will rush over to you and welcome you back. After a
little more discussion with him, he'll tell you that Ted is here to
congratulate you, then he'll run back to check on his stew.
*[.NOTE.]* Before doing ANYTHING, you have a couple of choices. You can
obtain one of two runes now, depending on your choice. The first is the
Fortune Rune; this rune will increase the amount of EXP you receive after
battle. The second is the Prosperity Rune; this rune will increase the
amount of Bits you receive after battle. If you don't want either of these
items, just go to the section Back to -Gregminster-.
% To get the Fortune Rune, used for increasing EXP, DO NOT go up the
stairs and talk to Ted, but leave the house right away.
% If you want the Prosperity Rune, used for increasing Bits, go upstairs
and talk to Ted, then leave the house right away.
Again, this is completely optional and a little difficult. I went by

myself first and gained some levels because you gain levels quicker when
there are less people in your party. Then I went and got Ted, because I
prefer Bits over EXP, due to the fact that EXP is variable by level.
After you leave the house, go to the Inn and save your game. Then leave
Gregminster via the south gate out to the World Map.

[Enemies] BonBon
Walk south to Lenankamp, but be careful; if
Crow
you run into enemies other than the BonBon, or
Mosquito
maybe a Crow or two, run away. In Lenankamp,
Red Soldier Ant go up the eastern stairs and in the Armory.
Wild Boar
You can only afford one good item in here, so
grab the Pointed Hat, then go to the western side of
town and go into the Blacksmith and sharpen our weapon to level 2. Don't
bother getting Ted armor or sharpening his weapon; he's not a permanent
party member. Leave Lenankamp and start walking around and fighting some
BonBons to get better and get some money. As you level up, go back and
forth from fighting and sharpening your weapons or upgrading your
equipment. I stopped with a level 5 Dragon Fang Staff, and Hero at level
12, along with some Brass Armor.
*[.NOTE.]* If you want, head east of Gregminster to a town called
Rockland. Go to the Inn and save, then talk to the person named Marco
outside of the Inn. There's a neat little trick that I found out in my
last game for easy money. Place a bet, then choose the right cup. ALMOST
ALWAYS, you will win! After you win the first time, quit, then talk to
Marco and play again, and repeat as necessary until you have plenty of
money! (I stopped at 300,000.) With all this money, you can equip Ted if
you feel like it.
If that doesn't work for you, try playing the game at the 100 Bit stage,
and write down where the coin lands each time. Do that for a while, then
quit, then come back and use that information for the 10,000 Bit stage.
It's not a guaranteed 100% win rate, but there won't always be one, so
just try it out if the other one doesn't seem to be working for you.

*[.NOTE.]* This following section is dedicated to Marco's cup game;
apparently, it's a popular subject!
Chris (kor_of_destiny@hotmail.com) let me know of a new pattern
for Marco's cup game - instead of just choosing the right one all the time
then quitting and repeating, choose the right cup, then the middle cup, and
you will win both of them every time, then quit and repeat, choosing the
right one, then the middle one. I have tested this myself, and it does
work when Marco is in Rockland. Thanks again!
Hiryu (saiyanfury@gmail.com) also let me know about another
variable in Marco's cup game - sometimes, instead of being on the right
all the time, sometimes it will be on the left all time, so if that
happens to you, just choose the left one all the time!
Matt (dramaticsoldier@hotmail.com) sent me a tip on acquiring more money
from Marco's cup game in one session. Simply bet the smallest amount you
can bet, and watch where the coin goes. Write down where it ends up.

Repeat about 15 times. Quit. Talk to Marco again. You have now written
down the first 15 places that the coin ends up. The trick is that the coin
always follows the same pattern, no matter how much you bet. If, for
example, The coin lands, Right, Left, Right, Middle.. When you bet 100
bits. You can now bet 10,000, and the coin will still land, Right, Left,
Right, Middle. Just remember, the coin follows the same pattern, no matter
how much you bet.
GaToaLe (felino_cat@hotmail.com) sent me another strategy for winning
more money from Marco's cup game. It was simply this:
Right-Middle-Left-Right-Left-Middle-Right-Right-Right. After that, quit
and do it again.
-- The last three tips are unconfirmed. I have now decided that I will -not accept any more contributions regarding Marco's Cup Game - if
what you read here somehow isn't sufficient to you, ANickerson's
FAQ at GameFAQs.com has even more detailed patterns regarding this,
so check it out it you need to.
After resting and preparing, head to the southwest of Gregminster /
northwest of Lenankamp to a bridge. Cross it, then go northwest and up the
mountain path to Mt. Tigerwolf.
*[.NOTE.]* One last note for now - C.A. (cabilodo@hotmail.com) let me know
that the Mosquitos on the World Map have a chance of dropping a Holy
Crystal. Just thought I'd let you know.

Follow the path, then grab the [_CIRCLET_]
[Enemies] Giant Snail
to your south. Go right to the next screen,
Killer Slime
follow the path, up the stairs, then grab the
Slasher Rabbit
[_MEDICINE_] before going up to the next area.
Go left, down the stairs, then open the chest
to find some [_GLOVES_]. Go up the nearby stairs, then right across the
bridge, and up to the next area. Continue up some more to the next area.
Go left to a fork; to the left is another chest with a
[_WIND RUNE PIECE_], so get it, then go up under the bridge. If you're
running out of space, either discard something, or just wait until later
to grab it, along with the rest of the items here. Follow the path left
across the bridge, then up to the next area. Go right and up past the
locked building to the next area.
Go up to yet another screen. Go left, up, and right to grab the
[_ANTIQUE_] before going up to the next screen. Go up a little, then open
the chest to your left for another [_MEDICINE_]. Take the eastern path up,
and get the [_CLONE CRYSTAL_] out of the chest here. Go back and go up the
western stairs, then continue up, but grab the [_1000 BITS_] to your
right. Now go north back out to the World Map, then go north and enter
Sarady.

Go into the northeasternmost

house and talk to the man

in here. If you're alone,
you'll receive the
[_FORTUNE CRYSTAL_], but if Ted is with you, you'll receive the
[_PROSPERITY CRYSTAL_]. I always drag Ted along and get the Prosperity
Rune, because the EXP in this game is variable depending on levels. Also,
DO NOT EQUIP EITHER ONE ON HERO! Wait until Gremio joins your party, then
put it on him. Hero will automatically gain a rune of his own through the
storyline, and if he has another one equipped at that point, he'll lose it
for good!
*[.NOTE.]* When fighting the Killer Slimes, you may have gotten some Water
Rune Pieces. Once you get back to a Blacksmith, I recommend equipping them
onto the Hero, as they help recover HP each turn; the more you put on, the
more he'll recover.
Buy some Medicine or rest at the Inn if you want, then make your way ALL
THE WAY back to Gregminster to your house. Now, we continue the story.

Head back to the McDohl residence and go

your meeting with the Emperor. After that, Ted will
start to tell you something, only to be interrupted by Gremio telling you
that it's time to eat. Go sit in the chair beside your father, Teo. He
tells everyone that he's heading north tomorrow, so he'll leave everything
to Hero. It's up to Gremio and two of Teo's other servants, Cleo and Pahn,
to take care of him.
During the early morning, Teo visits Hero to say goodbye, and a while
after he leaves, Gremio wakes you up, telling you that today, you'll be
a working member of the Imperial forces. Gremio will then join your party!
If you want, you can examine the desk in your room to find Hero's Diary,
where you can save your game. Thanks to Troy (troy19_91@hotmail.com) for
letting me know that this was here. Go back downstairs to have Pahn and
Cleo also join your party! Start to leave your house to have Ted rejoin,
then leave.
Before going to the Imperial Palace, and if you have the money, head to
the Armory to the lower right of Gregminster and update Gremio and Cleo's
equipment (don't worry about Pahn for now; he's a temporary member at this
moment, like Ted). Also, put either the Fortune or Prosperity Rune on
Gremio if you have the money. Make SURE that you actually LOOK at the
armor here; notice that they have Wing Boots for 10,200 Bits; these are
the only place in the game that you can buy them, so just look at them so
you'll be able to buy them later in the game. After that, head north and
into the Imperial Palace.
Once inside, go up a little bit, then left into Kraze's room. He'll scold
you for being late, then he'll give you your first assignment; you have to
go northeast of Gregminster to a place called Magician's Island to see a
woman known as Leknaat the Seer, to retrieve the astrological results.

He'll then ask if you were listening, and where to go.

Option 1 is the correct answer, but choose


however you like. He'll tell you that a
Dragon Knight from the Dragon's Den will
take you there, so head back outside of the
palace. After listening to the party's opinions on the errand, talk to the
Dragon Knight to your far right where the stables are. This kid is Futch,
with his Dragon, Black. (This is probably redundant, and a well known
fact, but why do the dragons in this game sound like elephants? *sigh*)
Futch has a bit of a temper, as does Ted, and the sparks will fly between
the two of them every time they talk to each other. Notice that Ted
mentions that he happens to be 300-years... (old, maybe?) After climbing
on Black's back, you'll fly off to Magician's Island.

Have Gremio and Pahn use the Unite command to perform their
[ Golem ] Talisman attack, and have Hero, Cleo, and Ted attack. This
*********
battle should be really easy if you took the time to travel
to Sarady to get one of those runes. Even if you didn't, it
[Bits] 1500 isn't too terribly hard.
After the battle, Luc is impressed that you beat his magic, recognizing
you as the Imperial Guards; he was just testing you to make sure you were
the real thing. Follow him into the tower, then follow the path, climbing
the stairs to the top. When you reach the top, talk to Leknaat, and she'll
ask you to follow her to get the Astral Conclusions. Follow her into the
next room, and when she gives them to you, she seems surprised; she can
see the future, and she says that she sees you bearing a huge burden in
the flow of destiny, and that you'll experience much pain and sorrow, but
you'll be able to handle it. You'll finally receive the
[_ASTRAL CONCLUSIONS_].
Leave the room and approach your party. As you prepare to leave, Leknaat
will come back in and decide to have Luc take you to the shore. Before you
leave, Leknaat will give Cleo a [_FIRE CRYSTAL_] to use to protect Hero.
Luc will then transport you back to the shore with Futch. You'll then fly
back to Gregminster.

He decides that you're not totally

useless, so he gives you another assignment; now


we've got to go east of Gregminster to a town called Rockland and find
out why they're not paying their taxes. To make it even more fun, we
have to take his idiotic assistant, Kanaan, with us to talk to the town's
head honcho, Grady. After Kanaan joins you, leave the palace.
Head to the lower-right of Gregminster to the Rune Shop and put the Fire
Crystal on Cleo. Before going to Rockland, I recommend going south to
Lenankamp and upgrading Gremio's and Cleo's weapons and armor, as well
as fighting for a little while on the World Map before continuing, if you
feel that you need to. When you're ready, head east of Gregminster to
Rockland.

If you talk to Marco, you'll be able to
play game where you guess which cup the coin is under.
As I told you before, if you have 10,000 Bits, bet that, and choose the
cup on the right, and you'll almost always win, and with Chris's tip, try
choosing the right one, win, then the middle one, win, then quit, and play
again, choosing the right, then the middle! Easy money!
Go to the top of the area to the mansion, and go through the left door.
After Kanaan yells at the guard here, the guard will go get Grady.
Grady knows that they're here about the taxes, so he'll explain; bandits
have settled on nearby Mt. Seifu and have been stealing from them, so
they can't pay their taxes. Grady's just glad that the Imperial Guard
(that's us) is here to get rid of the bandits for them. Should we go now?

Once inside, follow the path, and at the fork, head

northeast and get the [_BOOTS_] and [_MEDICINE_] out
of the two chests. Then head west and north into the
doorway. In this room, there are a lot of paths to take! First, go west
and southwest into another area with an [_ANTIQUE_] in a chest. Go back
and take the westernmost path north, which leads to [_1000 BITS_] in a
chest!

Back to the large room, take third path from the left (right-middle) up to
a chest containing a [_DEFENSE RUNE PIECE_]. Personally, I always use
these types of rune pieces on the Hero, since he's the only one in the
game who's in your party 100% of the time. Go back and take the path
beside the one you just came from (left-middle) to the next area. Keep
going through this one to the next one as well.
From the center of this room, grab the [_MEDICINE_] to the southwest, the
[_LEGGINGS_] to the southeast, and an [_ESCAPE TALISMAN_] to the
northwest. Move northeast and follow the path here up to the next room, up
a set of stairs, and down to a large room. Follow the spiraling path to
face the Queen Ant.

It's impossible to win this battle, so have everyone

DEFEND until you leave the battle. At this point, Ted
[ Soldier Ants ]
suggests that you let him take care of it.

Pick 1, and he'll head back into battle by


himself. He'll use a strange rune, which
wipes out the Queen Ant in one blow. After
the battle, everyone is in awe of how he just did that. After Kanaan
mutters something suspicious, head north and follow the path, up the
stairs, then east to find a chest with a [_THUNDER RUNE PIECE_]. Head
south, west, and south from here back outside. Heal your party, then
save at the Journeyman's Crystal. After you save, head up the stairs to
the next screen, where you'll meet the bandits Varkas and Sydonia. First,
you'll have to fight 5 Bandits, then the leaders themselves.

Concentrate on Sydonia first, because he has less HP and he

can attack your back row. Have Cleo use her Fire Rune,
[ Varkas ] Gremio and Pahn use the Talisman attack, and have Hero and
[ Sydonia ] Ted attack/heal. Once Sydonia is down, take out Varkas. This

battle is easy, and you shouldn't have to worry about losing
unless you haven't been leveling up lately.

After the battle, Kanaan will take the credit for beating them, then
you'll capture them and automatically return to the entrance of Mt. Seifu.
Leave this place and head back west to Rockland.

head into the mansion to the north. Grady will come and

bit reward! (which Kanaan greedily takes for himself,
so no penance for us). Now it's time to head back to Gregminster, but
before you enter Gregminster, TAKE EVERYTHING OFF OF TED, as well as
anything important off of Pahn; he'll be joining our party later in the
game, so feel free to leave unimportant stuff on him, but Ted won't, so
don't leave anything on him. When you've done that, head back to

Gregminster.

spectacular work to Kraze. Gremio
decides to make a great meal for everyone,
but Kanaan has to take Ted with him, so Ted will head off to the Palace
while we need to head over to the McDohl residence.
After you enter, the scene will switch to dinner, with a storm going on
outside. When you get the chance, talk to Gremio to hear his worries about
Ted, since he was supposed to be right back. Head downstairs and to the
front door, only to find Ted lying on the floor. Everyone else will come
in to help, noticing that he wasn't physically attacked, since Ted's
wounds were caused by magic. Help him, and you'll take
[1] Help.
him up into one of the beds. After some discussion, Ted
[2] Don't help.
will come to and he'll tell you what happened. Ted was
taken to see Lady Windy, who turns out to be a witch
that Ted remembers from 300 years ago; she wants the rune on his right
hand, but he uses the power of that rune, the Soul Eater, to escape from
them.
He'll pass out again, and Pahn will start to wonder if the Imperial Guard
would do such a thing. Gremio will argue with Pahn about contacting them
about this, then you'll regain control. Talk to Pahn outside of the door,
and he'll decide to go wake up the shopkeeper and get some medicine for
Ted. Ted will wake up once again, then he'll ask you to do something for
him.
[1] What is it, Ted? Choose option 1 to take off his glove to reveal one
[2] No.
of the 27 True Runes, the Soul Eater. If Ted hadn't
used the Soul Eater at Mt. Seifu, Windy would have never found
out about it, but it's too late now. Ted won't be able to escape from her
with his wound, so he will ask you to take the Soul Eater and to protect
it from Windy.
[1] I'll take it, Ted. Don't worry.
Choose to take it, and he will
[2] No.
bestow the Soul Eater upon your
right hand. As soon as you do, something happens at the door.
Head to the front door to find that Pahn has brought the Imperial Guard
back with him. His excuse; he can't allow any trouble while Master Teo is
away. They're here for Ted, but Cleo won't let them enter Master Teo's
house without just cause.
At this point, Ted will come in. He'll tell you that they think he still
has the Soul Eater, so he suggests that everyone should escape while he
uses himself as bait.
[1] No.
[2] All right.

Choose option 2 to agree with him, since we have to


protect the Soul Eater at all costs. They will head out
through the kitchen door, while Ted stays with the Guard.
In 300 years, you were the only true friend he ever had.
Out in the pouring rain, go behind the house and go left, then down and
into Marie's Inn. Inside, she'll decide to let you hide out in the attic.
Talk to Cleo and Gremio, then attempt to head downstairs to have Gremio

scold you. Then head downstairs anyway, and while you're at it, make your
way to the exit on the first floor. As you go to leave, members of the
Imperial Guard will come crashing through, complaining about you being in
the way.
[1] Shut up, you fool.
[2] (We'd better try to be inconspicuous.)

Pick either option, and the


guard will take a closer look
at you. They think that
you're that 'fugitive' McDohl kid. Just as Cleo and Gremio get ready to
fight them while you escape, a man named Viktor comes over to settle the
whole thing. His thoughts; would fugitives still be hanging around here?
C'mon, now.
The guards buy it, and Viktor will decide to 'kick us out'. As you leave,
Marie realizes that guy just left without paying! Outside, Viktor admits
to bilking Marie, but thanks you for helping him out as well. Head north
and talk to Viktor again. He says that he knows that you're the rebel
McDohl, and that he also has an idea to help us all escape if we listen.
[1] I'm not sure I can trust you.
[2] All right. Help us out.

Choose to let him help, and he will


agree on one condition; you must meet
someone he knows. Not too bad of a deal.
Anyway, Viktor will then join your party! Before doing anything else, go
to your menu and select FORMATION, then move Viktor into the front row so
he can attack during a battle. Now, head to the southern gate to let
Viktor talk to the guard. Once he does that, you'll head outside. As it
turns out, Viktor was able to bribe the guard; the whole Empire is corrupt
and everything is about to come apart at the seams. Oh, to bribe him, he
used Gremio's money! (haha) Now that we're out, we have a previous
arrangement to meet someone, whom Viktor says is in Lenankamp.

[2] I've never heard of Lenankamp.

Choose 1, then leave Gregminster. If


you want, you can level up, but when
you're finished, head to Lenankamp.

to make some arrangements, and he'll take off.
Before going to the Inn, I'm sure that you have extra
money. Sharpen all of your weapons to level 5 and get the best equipment
you can, if you don't have it already. Once you do that fun stuff, go to
the Inn and talk to the innkeeper and choose to stay the night.
Gremio doubts that Viktor will come back, but Cleo is still hopeful. He
also wonders why Pahn did what he did. You'll suddenly hear crashing at
the front door; the Imperial Guard is here now, and Gremio will panic.
[1] Let's fight.
[2] I'm scared. Let's run.

Choose either option to have Cleo try to


think of something. Someone then starts
talking from behind the grandfather clock.
Examine it to move it out of the way. A woman called Odessa will then
hurry everyone underground. So Viktor didn't abandon us, as she knows
that we're the new friends that he told her about.
Head down, then left to meet the group; this is the Rebel Army that the
Imperial Guard is trying to eliminate; the Liberation Army. Odessa

Silverberg is the leader of this army, and the other members are Viktor,
Humphrey, Sanchez, and Flik. Viktor thinks that we could be a great asset
the Liberation Army, though Gremio doesn't think so. What about you?
[1] Who says I'll join?
[2] Maybe I should join the Liberation Army.

Choose either option, and


Flik says that he doesn't
think that we should,
since a lot of their hideouts have been discovered recently, and that
there's probably a spy among them. In any case, Odessa will let you stay
with them until things blow over, then you're free to do what you want.
Head right then up to the stairs to find a member of the Liberation Army
collapsed by the stairs.
Once they're together, he'll tell Odessa that he's one of the Mt. Seifu
bandits, who only rob the Imperial scum; his bosses, Varkas and Sydonia
were captured, and he needs their help to rescue them, since Grady has
strung them up to die. Now it's time for a little judgment call.
[1] It's our fault.
[2] This has nothing
to do with us.

Be the good guy and admit that it's your fault that
they've been captured. After you tell Odessa your
story, you'll be told by Viktor that it's up to us
to help Varkas and Sydonia. He'll help too, so once
you regain control, head back upstairs and leave the Inn.
Put Viktor back in the front row of your battle party again, and if you
have extra money, upgrade Viktor's equipment and sharpen his weapon. If
you still have the Clone Crystal with you that you got at Mt. Tigerwolf,
go ahead and put that on him too.
When you're done preparing, leave Lenankamp, then head north and east
back to Rockland.

him. Watch the events unfold as the Grady

mansion mysteriously bursts into flames.

(!) Viktor will come back, and you'll
Empire Soldier (A) regain control. Head into the mansion, and
Empire Soldier (B) make your way left to be attacked by some
Empire Soldier (C) Empire Soldiers. Once you're done with
Empire Soldier (D) them, grab the [_MEDICINE_] out of the
chest in the room above you.
Head left and up into another room to be attacked by more of them. Go down
through the door, and you can see that you can enter three rooms in this
hallway. Go to the upper right room first to fight some soldiers, then
open the chest here for some [_BRASS ARMOR_].
The room on your left contains just soldiers, so go in there only if you
want to fight. Go to the lower right room to find just a chest with an
[_ANTIQUE_] inside. Go back out to the hallway, and go down, left, and up,
then right into another room; this room has two chests, one with
[_700 BITS_], and the other with [_1000 BITS_].

Go back out, move left, beat the crap out of the soldiers, then head left
to be outside with the bandits. Talk to Varkas, and at first, he'll think
that you're with the Imperials, but once you help him, he'll change his
mind. He'll ask you to free Sydonia as well, but Sydonia will escape on
his own, begging the question of why didn't he escape sooner?
Head back into the house, and make your way to the front door to be
greeted by Grady. He'll start to threaten everyone, but leave it to Varkas
and Sydonia to terrify him by what they would like to do to him. After he
flees, head out of the mansion. Varkas and Sydonia will thank you and the
Liberation Army for helping, so we're done here! Let's head back to
Lenankamp.

in the back right room. Go talk to Odessa, and
she'll be glad to see that you're back; you see,
she has some more plans for us. She shows everyone the blueprints to a
Fire Spear, because one day, the Liberation Army will be big enough to
take on the Imperials; she wants you to take it to her Secret Factory so
they can be created. Gremio will want to leave, claiming that they're
still members of the Imperial Army, but Odessa tries to convince him that
the Empire is evil and corrupt, as we've already seen. You don't want to
always be McDohl's little boy, do you?

[2] Since I'm a member of
the Imperial Army...

Choose option 1, and Gremio will still try


to protest. Cleo goes where you go, so it's
decided. We must go northwest of Lenankamp
to Mt. Tigerwolf, then to Sarady to meet up
with someone from the factory at Sarady.
Flik worries that you may be a spy, but Odessa decides that she's going
too, so he shouldn't worry. After Odessa joins your party, leave the
hideout As with Ted, don't worry about upgrading her equipment; she's just
a temporary member. Leave Lenankamp, and when you're on the world map,
head north, west across a bridge, and north to Mt. Tigerwolf.

just ignore the details below, since you should have already gotten the
treasure here.

the bridge, and up to the next area. Continue up some more to the next
area.

Go left to a fork; to the left is another chest with a


[_WIND RUNE PIECE_], so get it, then go up under the bridge. Follow the
path left across the bridge, then up to the next area.
As you go through this area, a man named Ledon stops you and recommends
that you rest at his place tonight and continue tomorrow. Odessa wants to
keep going, but everyone else think that they should rest.

[2] We'd better go on.

Choose either one, because either way, you'll


decide to stay here anyway. Go into his place,
and he'll decide to make you some tea before
[1] Not if it's bitter. supper. Everyone says it's bitter, and when
[2] Just a taste, then. you're given a choice, pick option 2 to move on.
Viktor asks what the tea is called, and he says
that it's "Robber's Tea." At that point, everyone passes out, and Ledon
will go around the room and pick everyone's pockets.
Another man named Kessler will come in and see what Ledon is doing. Ledon
starts bragging to him about the job he just pulled, but that's when
Kessler recognizes Lady Odessa! He'll threaten Ledon and tell him to hurry
up and make an antidote or he can say goodbye to his head.
After everyone's awake again, Kessler apologizes to Odessa; she just says
that she needs to be more careful, so Ledon can keep his head without
worrying, for now. The next morning, get out of bed and go talk to both
Ledon and Kessler. After his speech about Lady Odessa's ambitions, leave
here, then go right and up to the next area.
Go up to yet another screen. Go left, up, and right to grab the
[_ANTIQUE_] before going up to the next screen. Go up a little, then open
the chest to your left for another [_MEDICINE_]. Take the eastern path up,
and get the [_CLONE CRYSTAL_] out of the chest here. Go back and go up the
western stairs, then continue up, but grab the [_1000 BITS_] to your
right. Now go north back out to the World Map, and head north to Sarady

no sign here saying where the inn is. So, go into the
building to the right of you when you first enter, and voila! The inn.
Talk to the innkeeper in here, and choose to stay the night.
During the night, you can't sleep, so get up, go outside, and talk to
Odessa. She'll want to talk to you about something.

Choose 1 and ask her about it. She's worried


that she may not be able to live up to everyone
else's hopes. She also wonders if you will go
[1] Of course.
back to the Empire. Choose 2, and she'll lecture
[2] I don't understand. you again about the Empire, and how you can
judge between right and wrong. She also notices
the compassion that comes from you, and that you have eyes that can draw
people together, and if she should ever-Odessa will notice someone coming; a ninja named Kage will come and say
that he was sent by Mose, chief of the secret factory. Odessa asks about

a sick pigeon of his, in which Kage says that Mose does not keep any
pigeons. That was just a test to make sure Kage was the right person.
Odessa will then hand over the blueprints to Kage. After that, she'll go
back to bed, so go back to one of the empty beds to go back to sleep.
After a little morning chatter, you'll regain control. Leave the Inn, and
if you need supplies, stop at the Item Shop. After you're done, leave
Sarady and head back to Mt. Tigerwolf. I'm sure you don't need directions
on how to get back to the other side, so make your way through the
mountain and back to the World Map. Then go back to Lenankamp.

follow her, examining the clock to go down
there. Go left as soon as you're down there to fight a group of Empire
Soldiers. After beating them, go down and left into the next section to
fight another group. Again, once you're done with them, go down and left
into the third section.
You'll hear Odessa scream, so hurry over there to fight one last group of
soldiers. After that, go over to Odessa to find out that she sacrificed
herself to save a child. She says that she chose to be a woman over being
a leader. She'll ask you to come closer; she has two requests; 1) She
wants you to give her earring to a man called Mathiu in the village of
Seika (you'll receive the [_EARRINGS_]), and 2) She wants you to throw her
body into the stream down here.
[1] I can't.
[2] As you wish.

It's her dying wish, so do as she asks. She'll tell


Viktor to keep her death a secret, that way the
Movement won't lose hope and die off. After a last few`
words to you, Odessa will pass away.
*[.NOTE.]* Odessa's death will unlock the level 1 spell of the Soul Eater;
Deadly Fingertips.
Back at the Inn, we have to find a way to get to Seika, since the only way
there is through the Fortress of Kwaba.
*[.NOTE.]* You won't be seeing Marco until much later in the game, so you
may want to try to win as much money as you can. I would even max it out
at 999999 if you have the time. Remember, bet 10,000, choose the cup on
the right, win, then quit and repeat. (Or as Chris said, right, win,
then middle, win, then quit and repeat.)
We're gonna go through Kwaba, so leave after all preparations are made,
and head south of Lenankamp to Kwaba.

everything else. He'll also offer to lop off your head!
Ain Gide will decide to let you pass, since McDohl's son wouldn't be
dressed like a beggar. As you pass by him, he'll mention to you to take
good care of your father... (yeah, he knows...)
On the other side, Gremio apologizes for his behavior back there, and will
even let you kill him if you think that's what needs done...

Once you've done that, go back outside and
talk to the man in brown again, who is in fact Mathiu.
Gremio will show him the earring that Odessa gave to them, telling him
that it was her last request. Mathiu doesn't approve of what Odessa was
doing, so Viktor will ask him what was wrong with what she was doing.
In any case, Mathiu refuses the earring, tells us to leave, and heads back
into his house.

Follow him into his house and pester him some more. He still tells us that
he doesn't want anything to do with Odessa. Leave his house again, and
some Imperial Soldiers will arrive. They'll run right past you into
Mathiu's house, so go inside and see what the deal is.
The soldiers will be giving him the order to return to the Imperial Army
for duty. Mathiu will refuse them, saying he wants nothing to do with war.
Of course, they decide that they will take him by force if they have to;
they even stoop low enough to giving him the ultimatum of choosing to
return to duty or to let one of his students... well, there's no telling
what could happen to that child. Now, what do we usually do right now?
[1] Help them,
of course.
[2] Wait.
Let's see what's happening.

Choose 1 to help Mathiu out. They will


wonder who you are.

Choosing 2 makes you sound much cooler,
of the Rebel Army.
but pick whichever one you want, and

soldiers. After the battle, go inside
the house and talk to Mathiu again. He knows who you are, and
Gremio will point out to him that the soldiers called him Mathiu
Silverberg; Odessa was his sister. He decided that he wanted nothing to do
with war anymore, but Odessa kept fighting for what she believed in. When
he asks how she described him, Cleo tells him that she said 'just a man
in Seika named Mathiu', meaning that she never forgave him.
He was a coward; he wouldn't fight for what he believed in because of what
war did to him, seeing people die due to his actions, but now, he decides
to strive for what Odessa was striving for. When Gremio tries to give him
the earring again, he says that you should keep it.
[1] Why?
[2] But Odessa...

If you ask him why, he'll tell you that there's an


inscription on it with the location of the Liberation
Army's hideout, and whoever holds this earring will
lead the Freedom Fighters. He will tell you that he
[1] I can't do it. would be unable to lead the Liberation Army, but you
[2] I'll do it.
would be, since you're a born leader. Do you accept?
Of course! Choose 2 to become the new leader of the
Liberation Army. Cleo and Gremio decide to stay with you, even if it means
never going back to the Empire. Mathiu says that we need to get a
Headquarters and to recruit some volunteers. The place would have to be
big enough to withstand an attack by the Imperial Army; he says that the
abandoned castle in the middle of Lake Toran would be perfect.
First, you need to go to Kaku so we can get a ride to the castle. Mathiu
joins your party, but he can't go just yet because he has to get ready, as
well as give the students plenty of homework. Well, shop around here if
you need to (you can get a Water Crystal for Gremio if you really want to,
but I'll keep the Prosperity Rune on him for a while), then leave Seika.
Head southwest of Seika to Kaku.

Inn. Once you've done that, go to the Tavern,


which is down the southern stairs, then right
and up those stairs. Talk to the red haired
girl in here and she'll say that she's finally caught Gremio!? He wonders
what he did wrong; the girl, Camille, says that he owes her money, and
she's been looking for him for two months. She'll show him the bill from
the banquet with Teo, as well as Inn expenses.
Viktor is also surprised at the amount of the bill, so he'll try to
bargain with her, because she's an acquaintance of Tai Ho, and Tai Ho is
the guy we need to take us to Toran Castle. So, for the deal, Camille will
stick around and join our party until someone pays the bill! After she
joins, she tells you that Tai Ho is in the basement, so head downstairs
and talk to him. He's the one on the left.
He thinks that you're nuts, wanting to go to the castle, since it's
loaded with monsters. He will let fate decide; you will have to put all of
your money on the line (this is why I told you to save), and beat him in a
game of dice. What do you say to that?
[1] Yes.
[2] I don't think so.

You don't have any other choice, so choose to do


so. Ask him for the rules of Dice (Chinchirorin is
what it's called in Suikoden II), then play away!
I actually enjoy playing this game, and it's going to be a great source of
money later in the game. If you lose, you'll only lose between 1000-3000,
so only reset if you don't have much money. I got a STORM on my first game
with him, so I gained 3000 Bits. When he loses, he decides to play along
with the luckier folks, so he'll drag his brother Yam Koo into his madness
as well.
Go to the docks, and talk to Tai Ho, telling him that you're ready to go.

*[.NOTE.]* If you're worried about your defenses, or if you're not at a
high level, feel free to travel to Kouan and buy some new armor for your
party. Just tell Yam Koo that you want to go back to Kaku, then leave town
and head far south and a little west to find Kouan. They have much better
armor there, but it's also pretty pricey, but hey; I always would rather
be safe than sorry. My Party's levels for this are higher than what they
started because I took Camille and Tai Ho out for leveling. Also, don't
forget to sharpen their weapons in Kaku!
Okay, let's get started here! Head up and all the way to the right, then

down and to your left is a chest containing a [_MEGA MEDICINE_]. Then go


north into the cave. Head up and right to a fork; go south, and move
southeast beside what looks like a pool of water to find a chest with
[_TOE SHOES_] to your south. Put them on Hero, and DO NOT EVER GET RID
OF THEM! Keep them on Hero until I tell you to take them off, because
these aren't easy to come by just yet, and you'll need them to recruit
another character later on.
Go back to the fork and head east and south to the next area. As you
follow the path, grab the [_ANTITOXIN_] to your north and the
[_2000 BITS_] to your south. Follow the path as it goes north to the next
area, then north to another area, where you'll head east to yet another
area. Go south down two sets of stairs for a [_POWER RUNE PIECE_], then go
back up one set and head east to a fork; go north first and down the
stairs to get a [_POINTED HAT_]. Go back to the fork and go south for the
[_MEDICINE_] to your left, then continue south to the next area.
Go right and up the stairs, then left to the next screen, then follow the
long path as it turns east to a Journeyman's Crystal and a chest with an
[_ANTITOXIN_]. Now, save your game, and make sure that Viktor has some
Medicine on him for the upcoming boss battle. When you're done with that,
head north two screens, then head east to the next screen.

Since you've beaten the Zombie Dragon, the fog has cleared! Now that the
castle is ours, we'll be able to name it! Just to let you know, in the
history books in Suikoden II, the default name for this castle is Tora
Castle, SO, I will refer to it as either Headquarters or Tora/Toran
Castle, okay? Feel free to name it however you want. It DOES have the same
glitch when it carries the name over to Suikoden II, so if it's over four
letters, use all uppercase so it carries over. Refer to the beginning of
the Walkthrough if you're confused about what I'm talking about.

Mathiu will congratulate you for gaining the castle, as well as designate
today as the New Liberation Army's founding date. As everyone starts to
throw in their ideas for what to do, Leknaat will show up to give you some
gifts; 1) The Stone Tablet of Promise, which shows the names of all of the
people who join you in your fight, and 2) Luc. He's one of the best magic
users in the game, though he does basically nothing physically in battle.
Mathiu suggests that we recruit a man named Lepant in the town of Kouan,
and after that, it'll be the next morning. Gremio comes in and joins you,
saying that we need to talk to Mathiu, so go directly right of your room
to the other side of the screen and talk to him. He says that if you say
that Mathiu recommended him to join, Lepant will listen. Cleo and Viktor
will join up with you, then you can choose who else to bring with you. You
can always talk to Mathiu or Sanchez (later on) to switch party members.
Head to the bottom floor and exit through the south, then take the boat
out to the World Map and head east to Kaku.

the far right. Talk to
the woman in here; it's Marie from
Gregminster! Talk to her and recruit her and
you'll have an Inn at your castle!

Go into the building north of the Inn, and talk to the woman in here; she
is Onil; she's a know it all, so recruit her; you'll be able to talk to
her in your castle, and if you're lost, she'll tell you what you're
supposed to be doing.

Now, talk to the chef beside the counter in the Inn; this is Antonio, and
he wishes he had his own restaurant. To recruit him, we have to do a
little bit of traveling, so leave Seika and make your way back to
Headquarters via the boat in Kaku. Go to the first floor and go to the Inn
to the right of you. Talk to Marie and keep choosing to stay the night
until she says, "I finally opened my inn, but I have no time to prepare
the food. Do you know any good cooks?"
Leave Headquarters and head back to the Inn at Seika. Talk to Antonio and
recruit him into your party as well. We're done here, but we're not going
to go to Kouan just yet.
Head south of Kaku to come near Kouan, but instead of going there, keep
going west until you reach a bridge. This is Garan.

Kai, and he is the BEST
person to have in your party when taking on
groups of enemies. Anyway, Kai was Hero's stick-fighting teacher, or as
I'd like to call him, his Sensei, and he knows that you're now leading the
Liberation Army. He will decide to join you, so go ahead and recruit him.
The bad thing is this; he heads straight to the castle. I STRONGLY
recommend traveling all the way back to Headquarters just to put him in
your battle party. He and Hero have a Unite attack that attacks ALL
enemies for a LOT of damage (The Master Pupil Attack), which is great on
2 enemies or more; so you should be using this pretty much EVERY turn,
unless there's only 1 enemy, then you should just use them to attack
normally. Oh yeah, he also starts at level 21, and has a level 8 weapon,
so go back to HQ and get him. (5 minutes later...)
Now that Kai is in your party, head SOUTHEAST of Kouan to come to the
Great Forest. We have 2 more people to recruit before going to Kouan.

place to level up if you're at a lower level, because the enemies we're
going to encounter in Kouan are tough AND annoying, so I strongly
recommend leveling up to around 20 (A battle with 6 Kobolds put Luc from

13 to 19). Make sure to SAVE before doing anything, though. Once you're
done here, head northwest to Kouan.

Stay at the Inn to recover your MP if you needs to, and also Save before
you leave, then go over to the right side of his mansion. Krin will fix a
rope to the tree, so we can sneak in through the roof. Once on the roof,
head left and down the ladder. Head right, down, and left to find some
[_SHOULDER PADS_] in a chest. Then go down to the next screen.
The Robot Soldiers in this place are sort of tough, but imagine how much
harder it would be without the Master Pupil attack and Kai! Head down the
ladder, and go through the door. Go down into another door and talk to the
man in here; this is Rock, and he's a warehouse guard and he's likes to
build vaults as well. When he finds out that you don't have a vault, he'll
want to join you so he can build one. Recruit him, then grab the
[_MEDICINE_] and [_700 BITS_] out of the two chests in here.
Go back out in the hallway and go through the door on the right to be in
a room full of Robot Soldiers. Here's the trick; you have to walk BEHIND
all of them; do not walk in their field of vision or you'll have to start
over. So, walk under the first two, then go up and zigzag behind the two
above them, then go right and down to a chest containing a
[_COUNTER CRYSTAL_]. Go back to the top and through the door.
Go right at the fork and go through the door to find a chest with a
[_SPEED RUNE PIECE_]. Go down the hallway and down the stairs, then left
and up to a fork. The room above you has a [_LEATHER ARMOR_]; the room

to the right of that one has a [_FIRE RUNE PIECE_]; then there's two rooms
to the left; the first has a [_MEDICINE_], and the second has the
[_WHITE PAINT_] in it.
Talk to the man beside the third door to find out that this is Juppo, he's
an inventor and a Trickster; he invented all of the dolls that we've been
fighting, as well as 'the big one' that we'll see in the next room. He'll
then leave. Go into the next room to the left.
WOW! This giant wheel just isn't any fun. There's no way to control it;
it'll just plop you down wherever it pleases, which usually means fighting
a bunch of monsters, losing some EXP, and maybe a treasure or two before
it lets you off on the other side. Head north through the two doors to
find the Lepant's treasure, [_KIRINJI_]. Head all the way back to the roof
and get off on the right side.
Back at the Inn, Krin will be glad that you made it back, and he will
offer you some tea. Wait, tea? Didn't some other sneaky guy try to give us
tea before? After everyone refusing it and putting Krin to bed, you'll
hear Lepant all fired up about someone stealing Kirinji; turns out, Krin
told Lepant about it so he would catch you in your sleep. Lepant will come
in and demand to know why you took Kirinji.

[2] Um, Mathiu recommended you.

Choose 2 to tell him what's going on. He


says that he'd like to help, but there
are certain things that he cannot give

so you can give his sword back to him.
We'll return your sword.
Giovanni will come running in, saying
that his wife, Eileen, was taken away by
the new military commander. He'll rush out, so leave the Inn, and head up
to the mansion at the upper right of town to find Lepant demanding why
Eileen was taken. It turns out that it's Commander Kraze! Lepant will take
out the two guards, so follow him into the mansion.
Inside, he'll take two more of them out, but don't follow him again. Go to
the room on the lower left, and grab the [_WATER RUNE PIECE_] from inside
the chest. Go back out and go into the room Lepant went in. He'll be
surrounded, so he'll join you to fight them. You have to get take someone
out of your party for the time being while he's there (sorry, Luc).
Lepant will be in the back row anyway, where he can't do a thing, but as
long as Kai is in your party, the battle will be no problem. After the
battle, stick Lepant in the front row and head up the stairs. Go down
through the door, then go right and through this door, then go through the
door on the left first. Get the [_ANTIQUE_] out of the chest here, then
leave and go into the room on the right.
Kraze will be surprised to see you, since it's your fault that he was
reassigned to this country town, but he won't let him ruin his pleasure
(ew, gross). You'll be attacked by 6 more Empire Soldiers, so take them
out as well. After that, he'll take Eileen hostage, as well as summon an
old friend to take you out; Pahn! He says he doesn't regret the decision
he made that day, but his heart still aches about it, so he'll run over
and attack Kraze! You will then be given a choice. Kill Kraze or let him
live.

Surprisingly enough, you can pick


either option without consequences!
This is the one time you can get away

with killing someone, so if you want


to, go ahead because even if you don't, you won't be seeing him again, so
pick 1 to kill and 2 to not kill.
Talk to Lepant, and he'll tell you that, since he's a fugitive now, he
will join your army! He tries to break it off with Eileen, seeing as how
he won't be able to come back, but she won't hear of it; she'll go with
him! Now, talk to Pahn, and he'll apologize to you. He also wants to join
the Liberation Army, even if you don't forgive him.

forgive him and let him join the army too.

you hold a banquet to welcome all of our new friends!

Choose option 1, and let the feasting begin! At the


banquet, talk to all 10 people in here, then leave the
room. When you do, an assassin runs in to attack you
and take that rune off your right hand! In the battle, Deadly Fingertips
won't work on him, so just attack him for a few rounds until he disappears
and leaves the castle, saying that Lady Windy is always ready to destroy
you.
Pahn and Gremio will be arguing over who's going to stand watch over you,
so all you have to do is crawl into bed. The next morning, Gremio will
come in and join you, and you'll gain control. Head down to the basement,
then make your way out to the boat to find an Elf named Kirkis passed out
beside it.
Back in one of the beds, Kirkis comes to, and asks if this is the
Liberation Army HQ. He'll want to speak to the leader, Odessa, but of
course, Mathiu will tell him that you're the leader while she's away.
In any case, Kirkis will ask you to save the Elves, because the great
General Kwanda Rosman is planning on exterminating all of them.
[1] Of course.
[2] But...

Pick either option, and Mathiu will tell you that we only
have a few hundred men, not nearly enough to mobilize
their forces, but he will send a team to the Village of the
Elves to check it out, meaning you, Gremio, Kirkis, and three others. Just
for the sake of recruiting others, pick Tai Ho, Lepant, and Juppo. This is
just temporary, though.
Before doing anything else, visit Rock at the Vault, and put all of your
important items in there, including the White Paint and any valuable
Crystals you aren't going to use just yet.

Before going to the Village of the Elves, there's three more people we can
recruit. First stop is Kaku for two of them.

Head to the Tavern and go to the basement where you recruited Tai Ho. Down
here is a man named Gaspar; Tai Ho was one of his best customers, and
since Tai Ho joined the Liberation Army, he wants to too, but only if you
win 5,000 Bits from him at Dice, which is why you needed to save your game
before coming here.
After you've won the money, recruit Gaspar. Then leave Kaku and head north
to Seika.

the girl here, but that's when Lepant comes
out and yells at him. Turns out, Sheena's his son, so he will grab him and
drag him to Headquarters. That's it for new recruits.
Now, head back to your castle. If you've recruited everyone possible so
far, you will see a quick scene showing that your castle has grown. Take
this time to tour your castle once again to see where everything is. Go to
the third floor to talk to Mathiu, and put whomever you want in place of
Juppo and Tai Ho. Head back to Kaku, then leave there and head far
south-southeast to the Great Forest. Stop at Kouan if you need to update
some of your armor.
*[.NOTE.]* Now that Pahn is back in your party, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND
keeping him in your party at all times. He will eventually take part in a
battle all by himself, and he will need all of the experience he can get,
and the outcome of the battle will determine whether you get all 108 Stars
of Destiny or not.

When you enter the Great Forest, a man will

tell everyone. Head north and east, then enter
Kobold (B) the actual forest. As you go east, Kirkis will tell
you that without him, you can't go through this
area, since it's under a spell, which explains why the screen kept
repeating if you tried it earlier.
On the next screen, head up and right to the next area. Cross the log
bridge, and a girl named Viki will mysteriously pop up behind you. She
seems lost, and wants you to protect her, so go ahead and recruit her, and
she'll teleport herself to Headquarters.
Anyway, head east, but don't go down the stairs; keep going east, and open
the chest on the next screen to find a [_GAUNTLET_]. Go back, and go down
the stairs this time, then go right to the next screen to find another
chest; this one has an [_ESCAPE TALISMAN_] in it. Go back and head left
across the log to the next screen, where you'll find another chest; this
one has a [_NEEDLE_] in it. Go down from there and open the semi-hidden
chest for another [_WATER RUNE PIECE_].
Go right two screens, grab the [_FORTUNE RUNE PIECE_] to your north, and
continue right some more, following the path until you end up in another
village. This is the Kobold Village, but Kirkis says that all of the
Kobolds are gone. At that time, a Kobold named Kuromimi will come up to
you, saying that you humans took away all of his friends and that they're
sick too. We have to figure this out too, but we need to go to the Village
of the Elves first. Leave here.

of the Empire's generals, General Valeria;
she's trying to persuade them that Kwanda is planning on burning down the
entire forest, not just the Village, and this forest is her home as well.
They'll decide not to listen to her and lock her up.
Take this opportunity to visit the Armory, and once you're done there, go
north and into the house here. You'll meet Sylvina, Kirkis's girlfriend;
she was worried that Kirkis left without her. Talk to the elder here, and
he'll wonder why Kirkis left; when Kirkis tells him the story, he claims
that he doesn't need human help to defend the village, and will decide to
lock everyone up.

Talk to Stallion down here if you want to, then talk to Valeria. She'll
tell you that the elves wouldn't listen to her, and then she'll tell you
Kwanda's plans; he's going to use an object called the Burning Mirror to
burn down the entire forest.
Examine the sets of bars and you'll hear Sylvina come down to the prison.
She'll want to know why Kirkis keeps trying to help the humans; he says
that he doesn't understand why humans, dwarves, and elves just can't get
along, so he wants to help. She decides that she'll believe him, as well
as decide to let you out of prison. Kirkis has an idea to stop the
Burning Mirror, and that's to go to the dwarves and ask for their help.

[2] Let's go back to the castle first.

Choose either one, because we


don't have much time so we're
going the to Village of the
Dwarves now anyway. When you gain control, leave the prison, and once
you're back out at the village, make sure to stop at the Item Shop and
Armory if you haven't yet, then head back down to the trunk of the tree.
Valeria will then ask to join your party so she can help protect the
forest, meaning that you have to boot someone out of your party. (Sorry
Cleo. Why can't Gremio leave for now?)
Kirkis will ask Sylvina to join too, but she says that she will wait for
now, wait for him to come back. You'll go back out to the World Map. Head
east and north a little to the Dwarf Trail.

Go back to the fork and head right and up to the next screen. Follow the
path to another fork; go up the first ladder on the left to come across a
chest with a [_GUARD ROBE_] in it. Go back down, then go east to find
another hidden chest with a [_KILLER CRYSTAL_] inside. Go up the second
ladder here, then follow the path to the next screen. Look for a chest to
your south to find a [_MEDICINE_], then go up to the next area.
Go north and grab the [_FORTUNE RUNE PIECE_] out of the chest here, then
go east under the grating and up the little stairs, following the path to
the next screen. You'll meet up with Kuromimi again, mumbling about the
stingy Dwarves not giving him the cure for his sick friends. He'll run off
again, so just head up to the next screen where you'll find a Journeyman's
Crystal. Use it, then follow the path back out to the World Map and go
northeast to the Village of the Dwarves.

Appraiser/Armory. The only things worth
getting in the Armory are the Half Helmets,
so get them for your party. East of the Inn is the Item Shop, and south of
that is the Blacksmith; you can sharpen your weapons to level 9, as well
as recruit Meese; he can sharpen your weapons to level 9 back at the
castle! Sharpening your weapons is the most expensive thing to do in this
game, which will add hours on end to your game if you insist on getting
all of your characters to have a level 16 weapon.
When you're ready, make your way up to the big house on the right side.
Talk to the Chief here; he won't believe your story about the Burning
Mirror blueprints, because their vault is impenetrable. If he's going to
believe us, we're going to have to break in and steal something as well.

The vault is to the north of the village, so do what
you have to do here in town, and save at the Inn. I recommend bringing
plenty of Medicine, as well as at least one set of Mega Medicine on each

Dwarves' Vault.

and move up, right, up, right, up, left for a while, then down all the way
to another chest containing a [_MAGIC ROBE_]. Go back to the first fork,
then head south, and zigzag your way east until you come across a chest
with a [_BLUE RIBBON_] inside. Make your way north from here to the next
room, then down three more sets of stairs and into another room.
Go onto the moving block directly south of the door, then go south and get
on that one too, and you'll land on a platform with a
[_THUNDER RUNE PIECE_]. Go back to where the door is, then go right and
down on this block, then take the south one here as well. Go down into the
next room and, guess what? Go down three MORE sets of stairs and move

north again.
In this next room, you're at a fork when you walk in; go right and down to
get a [_POINTED HAT_], then go up from that one to get a
[_SKILL RUNE PIECE_]. Back at the fork, head north and follow the lengthy
path, grabbing the [_MEDICINE_] along the way to the next room.
In this room, you can read the tablet that says "Fiddle dee diddle dee
piddle dee doo.", then step on the two buttons in this order; Left, Right,
Right, Left, Left, Left, Right, Right. Go north through the door, and at
the four-way fork, head west first to find a [_MEGA MEDICINE_] in a chest,
then head all the way east to find [_5000 BITS_] in another one.
Go back to the fork and head north, then go down the stairs in the next
room. Go east to a fork, then go south because east leads to a dead end.
You'll reach a set of stairs, but DON'T go down them just yet; go west to
find an [_ESCAPE TALISMAN_] in a chest, which is IMPORTANT in this dungeon
since that's our primary and preferred exit method. The stairs to the east
of this set also lead to a dead-end, so go down the stairs in the center.
Before going east down here, heal everyone to the max, then follow the
path to the boss.

have one of your attackers take a break and heal. I got
[Bits] 3,000 lucky because over half the time, my characters delivered
critical blows. He can be pretty tough if you don't stay
healed, because this battle can easily drag on.
Head north into the next room, and you'll be at a fork; the westernmost
room has a [_DEFENSE RUNE PIECE_], and the middle room has the
[_RUNNING WATER ROOT_] that you were sent here for.
Now, you have two choices; you can use the Escape Talisman you picked up
just a short while ago to exit this place. However, if you think you
could use both the money and the EXP, feel free to walk ALL THE WAY back
up however many floors we came down; that's what I'm going to do because
I don't feel like being short of money any time soon.
Once you're out of this place, head back to the Village of the Dwarves.

the elder there the news, so leave here and return to the Dwarf Trail.
Halfway through the Dwarf Trail, your party will look out in the distance
and see the forest on fire! Hurry to the exit, the run over to the Village
of the Elves...(oh no...)

they can plan on destroying Kwanda Rosman's army.
Leave the Village, but once you leave, go right back to it again. You'll
see a kid here, so talk to him; he's Templeton, and he makes maps. He asks
you permission to map the Toran Castle, giving you the chance to recruit
him, so do so. He also gives you the [_SUIKO MAP_], a map of the world
showing the locations of all the cities and dungeons.
Now, Save at the Journeyman's Crystal, then leave and head to the Great
Forest/Kobold Village.

Burning Mirror; Sylvina will run in and rush over to Kirkis, and Stallion
will sprint in as well. Gremio will give the ring back to Kirkis; I bet
he's glad that Gremio kept it for him.
Mathiu will update you on the situation; Humphrey and Sanchez arrived with
the survivors of the old Liberation Army, giving them enough manpower to
fight Kwanda Rosman's army, and will ask the signal to move forward. It is
at this point that Humphrey automatically joins your party without you
knowing.

Okay, Major Battles work like a rock, paper, scissors type of game. You
have three choices of attacks; Charge, Bow, and Magic, as well as an
Others command.

As for the Others command, you'll have various skills that you can use;
I ALWAYS recommend using the Thieves or Ninjas command first off (though
you don't have any Ninjas just yet); they will tell you what the enemy
is planning on doing, giving you the edge for the next attack.
Now for the battle; use the Thieves command first off to see what they're
going to do; if they fail, you'll just have to pick one of the three. I
always use a Bow attack in this case, because it WILL do damage no matter
what they do. *Kwanda's Attack* is a Charge attack, just to let you know,
and it's usually the first attack that they will use in this battle. If
your thieves tell you that they're going to do a Bow attack, use the
Strategists command under Other to boost your Charge attack power, then
use the Charge command with the Commander's Team or the Lepant family.
After that turn, use the Thieves command again, then do whichever is
strongest, and so on and so forth until you win the battle.
Like I said, if you're ever in doubt, or if the Thieves command fails,
just use a Bow attack, that way you will be able to inflict damage on them
no matter what. Pretty easy, isn't it?
Kwanda says that he's going to use the Burning Mirror again, but as he
goes to use it, the Mirror will shatter, thanks to the Firewind (or
Windfire, as he says here) Cannon that the Dwarves built! At this point,
your party will gather together, and no, you don't get to pick who; it's
Hero, Gremio, Kirkis, Kuromimi, Valeria, and Viktor.

Go into the room on the left to find another chest; this one has a

[_MEDICINE_]. Go back out and go into the room on the right to find
[_OLD BOOK VOL. 1_]. Go back out again, and you'll see a white room below
you; you can enter it from the left side, though it's kind of hard to see.
Go in there and open the chest for a [_GALE CRYSTAL_]. After getting those
three items, head to the lower left corner of the big room to go outside;
grab the [_THUNDER RUNE PIECE_] out here. Now you can go up to the third
floor.
Don't move; make sure that everyone is at full health. When you're ready,
go up through this door, and when you get to the center of the room,
you'll meet the next boss!

mom and bro will come running in to find Kuromimi, so that means that the
Black Rune's spell was broken over the Kobolds. Kirkis will decide to join
the Liberation Army for good, as will Sylvina, Stallion, Kuromimi, and
Valeria. He'll ask you if you're ready to go back to the castle.

You'll wake up in your room; leave here and make your way down to the
third floor; go into the big room on the right to meet up with Flik! He's
angry, wanting to know where Odessa is. Mathiu will come in an introduce
himself as Odessa's brother, and when Flik asks him where she is, he flat
out tells her that she's dead.
[1] But Odessa's last request... Choose either one, and Mathiu will tell
[2] You're right.
him that she was killed at the hideout
in Lenankamp. Flik doesn't believe that it happened,
and he doesn't think that a guy like you should be the leader of the New
Liberation Army. He'll decide to leave, and stay at the Inn in Kaku.
Viktor says that he needs to talk to him, so he'll join your party.
Leave Headquarters and sail to Kaku. He's not actually at the Inn, rather
at the house to the left of the steps. Go in and talk to him, and he'll
seem to blame himself for not showing Odessa how he could be a leader.
He says that he can't accept you as a leader, but he will want to join
forces with you. Will you?

Choose option 2, and he'll decide to move his troops in


at the castle as well. Get back in your boat and sail
back to Headquarters. Go to the first floor and save
first, then go up to the third floor, and enter the big room on the
right (known as the War Room from here on out). Talk to Flik, and he'll
say that his comrades were captured my Milich Oppenheimer's forces, so we
need to go and free them by taking the Fortress of Garan, then take
Milich's domain.

attack, which will take a HUGE chunk out of your troops. At this point,

around everywhere, so we're going to get a nifty
little item that'll teleport us back to
Headquarters! But before we do that, head a little
west of Garan and a little south to enter Rikon.

and purchase the Blue
[Save Points] Inn
Flower Seeds as well as the
Blue Paint. If you visit the Appraiser, you'll meet a
man named Jabba; he says that if you can find anything that he can't

appraise, he'll do anything you ask; that item is called the Nameless Urn,
and we'll come back to it in a few minutes.
Go to the Inn and go upstairs. Talk to the girl up here; she's Lotte, and
she's lost her poor kitten. Note to self; if we catch her cat, she'll join
our party, mmmkay? Now, since we're already here, go to the south end of
town and hop into the boat here. On the World Map, follow the river south
as far as you can, and when you see a whirlpool to your west/northwest, go
over and TOUCH IT with your boat for a message that says 'rapids'.
Once you've touched it, take the boat back to Rikon, and your party will
wonder what to do, since you can't get past them with a normal boat. Now,
leave Rikon head north to Teien.

Go into the Inn here, and


talk to the elderly woman
on the right side; this
is Hellion; she knows all about you, and she
would like to lend you her powers. Recruit
her, and she'll tell you about the Blinking
Mirror; it will teleport you to your base
from the World Map at any time, so open the chest on the right to obtain
the [_BLINKING MIRROR_], then open the one on the left for a
[_MEGA MEDICINE_].
Talk to the guy at the Item Shop, and buy the Yellow Flower Seeds, as well
as the Yellow Paint. Now, leave Teien, and use your Blinking Mirror to go
back to Headquarters. MAKE SURE THAT THE BLINKING MIRROR IS ALWAYS ON
HERO, AND NEVER DISCARD IT!
At HQ, if you leave by boat, then come back in, you'll notice that your
castle has grown yet again, so check everything out to see where it is
now. Go to the second floor and put the Blue and Yellow Paint/Seeds in
Rock's vault, then talk to Mathiu or Sanchez on the third floor, and put
Tai Ho and Yam Koo in your two available slots. If you want to, you can
play Dice with Gaspar to get some money so we can upgrade weapons; it's
by far the fastest way to earn an unholy amount of money; just be sure to
save before playing. Head down to B1 of your castle, and talk to Viki;
have her teleport you back to Teien.
Once in Teien, go to the Blacksmith and sharpen all of your weapons as
high as you can; up to 12 if you have the money. If you don't, don't worry
about it; we're going to be fighting on the World Map for a while. The
Holly Fairies on the World Map hold the Nameless Urn, which we need to
recruit Jabba. So fight around on the World Map for a bit if you want to,
but we need to go to Antei as well, so leave Teien.
Here's a list of things to do while fighting for the Nameless Urn; first,
go southwest of Teien and stop in at a place called the Soniere
Prison, so we can teleport there later instead of walking it. After that,
head west to Lorimar and visit there. Go north of Lorimar and visit
Scarleticia Castle as well, and you'll see the giant rose with the weird
pollen. Head northeast to Antei, but head northeast PAST it first, all the
way to the Northern Checkpoint. Finally from there, head all the way west
and enter the Dragon's Den. Once you've visited all of those places, head
over to Antei.

Armory, which is on

on the left. Talk to the Armorer; he is
Chapman, and he's tired of working in this
run down Armory; he'll ask to join your
party, so recruit him to give your castle an
Armory! Leave here and go to the Rune Shop, which is just up and right
from the Armory; talk to the beautiful Jeane, and since you now have over
45 stars, she will join your party as well!
*[.NOTE.]* Now that you have an Armory in your castle, you will be able to
buy Wing Boots. The only way they will be in your inventory is if you
LOOKED at the items at the Armory in Gregminster at the beginning of the
game. These Boots are very useful.
If you have kept the Toe Shoes on Hero this whole time, I applaud you!
With them equipped for the last time, head over to the Inn, and talk to
the dancer on the right; she's Mina, and yes, she's heard of you too.
To recruit her, you have to dance with her, and you can only dance well
if you have those Toe Shoes on. After the dance if over, Mina will join
your party!
If you talk to Esmerelda on the second floor, she'll tell you that she'll
join your party if you bring her an Opal, which we can't get until we
break into Soniere Prison.
That's all for Antei, so leave here. If you've gotten the Nameless Urn by
now, head over to Rikon. Well, even if you haven't, go to Rikon anyway.

Go back to the second floor of the Inn, and talk to Lotte a second time;
this time, she'll flat out tell you that if you find her cat, she'll join
your party. To find her cat, head over to Kaku, and chase the cat on the
right side. Once you've caught it, come back to Rikon and give it to her,
and she'll join your entourage as well.
Now, we've got three more characters to recruit before continuing on, and
they are pretty tough, so here's what you do; play Dice with Gaspar, and
have all 6 of the people listed in My Party to have level 12 weapons, and
have all 6 of them outfitted with the best armor, including Head Gear,
Ninja Suits, Steel Shield for Flik, and Guard Rings for everyone; if you
have good luck, it should only take a few minutes of Dice to get around
500,000 or more Bits to do this. You'll also want to have them at level
28 or 29 and higher, and have Mega Medicines on Viktor, Tai Ho, and Yam
Koo.
Stay and Save at the Inn, and when you're ready, leave Headquarters BY
BOAT. If you look on your map, you'll see a dot on an island

west-northwest of your castle. That's our next destination.

Choose 1 to fight them. Here's what you do; have

Tai Ho and Yam Koo use their Fisherman Attack on
Leonardo, and heal while they're unbalanced; have
Viktor use his Clone Rune on Anji and heal while he's unbalanced; have
Flik use his Lightning Rune on Leonardo, then Anji, and have Hero and
Gremio just attack Anji normally. If you've prepared well enough, this
battle should be a breeze. I know for a fact that we're not supposed to be
fighting these guys just yet, considering my levels jumped 2-3 levels!
After the battle, Anji, Leonardo, and Kanak will join your party! Leave
the Pirates' Fortress, and head back to Headquarters. Switch out Tai Ho
and Yam Koo for whomever you want. Since the game doesn't exactly spell it
out unless you talk to every single person, I'm going to let you in on
what's going on; we need to find a man named Liukan, who can help us out
by making an antidote for the Pollen that Milich's roses let out. Liukan
lives beyond those rapids that we couldn't get past, so we've got to find
a way to get past them. The answer is in Teien, so head there now.

and talk to the guy in here; his name is Gen, and he's very interested

Choose 2, and he will


decide to help you, but
he can't do it alone; he
needs the help of the old man next door, Kamandol. Gen will join your
party, so you have to kick someone out of it temporarily. Leave his house
and go next door to have Kamandol come out to talk to you; Gen will make
fun of him for being so old, but Kamandol says that he can do anything,
depending on the time and money.
Go inside his house, and he'll show you a machine that moves by burning
oil; by attaching this to the boat, we can navigate the Dunan Rapids. He
tells us to be careful with it, meaning that... we have to carry it?
Kamandol will join your party, thus kicking out your other party member.
You'll obtain the engine, which is listed as the [_PRODIGY_] in your
Party Items.

Leave Teien, and head south to Rikon.

The next morning, leave the Inn and you'll go talk to them; they worked
throughout the night and completed it, so they'll rejoin you. Now, hop on
the boat, and follow the river to the blinking dot to your south to arrive
at Liukan's Hermitage.

to take Liukan to his impenetrable Soniere Prison.
Head into his house and grab the [_BLACK PAINT_] out of the chest. Now we
need to head back to Headquarters, so get on your boat, then use your
Blinking Mirror to head back.

Leave this house and go to the one northwest of it. Talk to "Albert" here,
and Viktor will start interrogating him; Viktor will trick him into saying
that he is in fact Tesla the Scrivener. He really doesn't want to go back
to his life of crime, but he doesn't have any choice here. Tesla joins the
party!
Use the Blinking Mirror on the World Map and go back to Headquarters.

Journeyman's Crystal, so save at it, then grab the
[_SILVER NECKLACE_] out of the chest in the room south of it.
Go back up and head left, following the path through two doors, then get
the [_OLD BOOK VOL. 6_] out of the chest beside that second door. Go left
and up, and walk up to the big door to use the lever to open it. Then
continue north and down the stairs, and keep following the path down
four more sets.
Go south, and open the chest here for an [_ANTITOXIN_], then follow the
path past all of the empty cells and down the stairs. You'll run into
four sets of Veteran Soldiers down here, so take care of them, then
examine the cells to the right of Liukan to obtain a [_HALF HELMET_] and
[_SOUND SETTING 0_].
Examine the third cell and free Liukan. If you haven't obtained the Opal
just yet, stay down here and fight Nightmares until you get it. Once you
have the Opal, TAKE ANYTHING IMPORTANT OFF OF GREMIO! Then start to make
your way back to the entrance.
When you reach the room with the lever, Milich will use it to trap you in
the room with him. Instead of fighting you, he decides that he will

release a bottle filled with the Spores of Agony; these spores eat men
alive. He'll smash it on the ground, then run out of the room, locking the
door behind him.
In a brave effort, Gremio will use the lever again and throw everyone
behind that door, then shut the door back with him still in the room!
Gremio says that the spores are spreading quickly, and that this is the
only way for the rest of us to survive.

Choose either option, but Gremio will


refuse to comply. He apologizes for not
being able to protect you any more, but
you've become strong enough to where you don't need him. He will then say
goodbye...
Later on in the day, Mathiu and the troops will come along and free you,
and after you grieve over Gremio's remnants, you'll leave. Viktor will go
back in, then come back out, and the next thing you know, you'll be in
bed back at Headquarters.
*[.NOTE.]* With Gremio's death, you have unlocked the level 2 spell to the
Soul Eater; Black Shadow, which is a pretty good attack. If you did leave
stuff on Gremio, it has been put in your Vault. Check with Rock to get it
out.
You will be able to revive Gremio, but only if no one else
permanently dies, and if you recruit all of the other 107 Stars.

Head up to the fourth floor, and head west into


your room, then go to bed. In the middle of the
night, Leknaat will show up, saying that she knows

option, and she will tell about her older sister,
Windy. She also carries a True Rune with her
sister, which is the Gate Rune; Windy wants to have the power of two True
Runes, and if she can do this, she'll become too powerful and will
probably bring the world to ruin. She also says that you're the only one
who can stop her.
The next morning, head to the War Room and talk to Flik; he remembers
about the Fire Spears! With them, we should be able to defeat Teo's
armored cavalry!
Go down to the basement and head out to your boat; you'll see Gen and
Kamandol here; they've put a more powerful engine on this boat as well!
With it, you'll be able to cross the maelstrom (a whirlpool similar to the
one near Liukan's) to get to the next town, the town of Kirov.

boat, we need someone who's experienced

with boats, and the only other guy we know


who knows about boats is good old Tai Ho. Head back up to the fourth floor
and talk to Sanchez. Put Tai Ho in your party, as well as four others you
would like.
Ideally for now, I'd take Tai Ho, Yam Koo, Kai, Kirkis, and Stallion, but
there are three others I'd like to recruit before moving on. (I strongly
recommend taking Kirkis that way you won't have to spend extra time trying
to level him up so you can recruit Rubi) To get these recruits, you must
have Milich in your party. Once you have Tai Ho and Milich in your party,
go back to the boat and choose to take a test ride. Once you're on the
World Map, use the Blinking Mirror, then have Viki teleport you to
Scarleticia.

Go to the fourth floor and kick Milich out of your party and put whoever
you want in there (I used Yam Koo). Make sure to stop at the Blacksmith
and Armory to get the party properly equipped, and even go to Teien to
sharpen their weapons, if you have the money. Once you're ready, save
your game and hop on the boat!
Head northwest of Headquarters, and head north of the Pirates' Fortress
to sail over the maelstrom that was once blocking our way. Head north and
dock at Kirov.

There are three


people to recruit
here in Kirov, as
well as some new armor to get. First off,
let's recruit Georges; go to the Inn and
talk to him; he's the guy directly up from
the door. He has a pretty fun card game to
play, and if you beat one of his records,
he'll join you! It's pretty simple; all cards are face down and you have
to match pairs of your recruits, as well as memorize where they were when
you flipped them over. Ask Georges for details.
Next, we'll recruit Lester; go into the house on the left of the woman
washing clothes, and taste the stew cooking on the stove. Then leave this
house and go into the one to your right. Taste the stew cooking on this
stove as well. Now, leave this house and go into the house that's right
beside the docks and your boat. Talk to the chef in here; he's Lester, and
he's happy to hear that you like his stews, and when he learns that
you're the leader of the Liberation Army, he'll decide to join you!
Finally, there's Sarah; she's a chore to recruit, so follow along
carefully. Talk to Sarah, the woman who's washing clothes, and choose to
recruit her; she'll agree to join, but only if you get her some soap.
Go talk to the man walking between the Inn and the Armory, and he says
that he'll give you some Soap if you get him some Soy Sauce. Then go talk
to the guy that's close to the house below the Inn; he'll give you some
Soy Sauce if you give him some Salt. Go to the southeast end of town and
talk to the person here; they will give you some Salt, but only if you
give them a Yardstick. Go to the Inn and talk to the guy in the room on
the right; he'll give you a Yardstick if you can get him some Sugar.
SO after you talk to ALL of them...
Go to the Item Shop and buy some Sugar, then go to the Inn and give it
to the man here to get the Yardstick.
Go to the southeast end of town and give the Yardstick to the person here
to get the Salt.
Talk to the guy between the Item Shop and building beside Sarah and give
him the Salt to get the Soy Sauce.
Talk to the guy between the Inn and the Armory and give him the Soy Sauce
and he'll give you the [_SOAP_].
Finally, go over to Sarah and give her the Soap, only to find out that she
had some all along (ARGH!). She will then join your party!
Now that those tasks are done, head north and leave Kirov.

fighting for what you believe in. He will then ask Alen and Grenseal to
join the Liberation Army and serve his son. He'll say his last words to
you, and then the Soul Eater will gain its level 3 spell, Hell, due to
the death of Teo...
Back at Headquarters, go into the War Room and talk to Lepant; he says
that the Empire is in disarray since the defeat of Kwanda, Milich, and
now Teo, and now would be a good time to take the Fortress of Lorimar!

You'll see a bunch of graves that looks as though they were emptied
recently. Viktor and Cleo will join your party to scout the area, so pick

three others to come with you (for now, choose Maas, Meese, and Mose so
you can recruit Moose in the next town.
When you regain control, leave Lorimar to the south, and once you're on
the World Map, go right back to Lorimar. Go up and left beside the graves
and talk to the man named Kirke, he says that all he can do is cut off
heads, but recruit him anyway, and Kirke will join your party! Leave
Lorimar.

Once you're in the

mention Neclord, a name that Viktor
recognizes very well. He will demand to
know more information about Neclord, and Hix will call Viktor a bear
(haha). The Chief invites you to his house to talk about Neclord.
When you regain control, head to the northeastern part of town and go
into the house here. Talk to the Blacksmith, Moose, and since Maas, Meese
and Mose are in your party, he will decide to join you as well!
Now, talk to the person between this house and the one south of it; it's
Marco from Rockland! If you can win 5,000 Bits, Marco will join your party
too! To recruit Marco, just use the trick I told you at the beginning of
the game; choose the 10,000 Bit bet, and pick the cup on the right and
voila! Marco will join your party!
Stop at the Armory if you like, then go to the Item Shop. Buy the Red
Flower Seeds and any other thing you like. Now, leave the Warrior's
Village for the time being and head back to your castle.
Once you're there, get the Blue and Yellow Flower Seeds out of the Vault
so you have all three colors, then switch Maas, Meese, and Mose out for
a better party. Sharpen your weapons to 15 if you can afford it, After
you've done that, teleport back to Warrior's Village.

about Neclord. He'll
say that he came here as a general of some Imperial
Troops, which he turned into zombies. He demanded that the villages send
women, and the girl from this village would have to be Tengaar, and the
women would become his brides. He will then begin his very long talk about
the history of the Warrior's Village.

After that, he says that he's prepared a room for you. Go over and talk to
Tengaar; she wonders about Cleo, since she's talking to Hix, then listen
in on Cleo and Hix's conversation. After that, Hix will run off to bed, so
go in the room and talk to Viktor. He says that Neclord misused a rune and
turned himself into a vampire, and that he also destroyed the Village
where Viktor was born. He vows to destroy him with his own hands.
The next morning, head outside, and at the front of the Village, Neclord
will be waiting! He's come to take Tengaar, and when a group of warriors
try to attack him, they'll be blown away. Then Viktor will go up and
challenge him.

this village, we should find what we're looking for. Leave the Warrior's
Village, and head west of here to get to Qlon.

Go in through the big door here. Go to the upper right of the temple and
talk to Morgan; he's been blind since birth, but he claims that he can see
better than most others; go ahead and recruit him as well! Go to the upper
left part and talk to Hugo if you want; he can't seem to find his War
Scroll, so we'll let him know if we find it. Check the left bookshelf
close to Hugo to find [_OLD BOOK VOL. 3_].
Now, talk to the man in front; this is Fukien, and he has foreseen the
coming of Hero, since he's the destined leader of the 108 Stars of Heaven
and Earth, and everyone who has joined us so far was born under one of
these stars.
Fukien says that he knows of a way to defeat Neclord, and he'll join your
party! He'll take you out to the entrance to the Cave of the Past, and
remove the guard to it. Now we must go in to face the past, or something

like that.
*[.NOTE.]* Make good use of Kirkis and Stallion's Wild Arrow Attack.
Once inside, head north to a fork; to the east is a Journeyman's Crystal,
so use it, then go back and head north, then down the stairs. Follow the
path to a four-way fork; head west and up the stairs to find a chest with
a [_CRIMSON CAPE_], then go back and take the northern path to the east.
Follow the path as it curves around to two chests, one with a [_MEDICINE_]
inside, and the other with a [_FLOWING CRYSTAL_]. Go back to the fork and
take the southern path to the east.
On this screen, head straight down and you'll start walking through the
wall like we did at the Toran Castle; head straight down, then take a step
or two to the right, then down some more to the next screen, where you'll
find the [_WINDOW CRYSTAL_], which is used to recruit Window in the
Warrior's Village.
Go back through the hidden path, then go up the stairs to the east and get
the [_HEAD GEAR_] out of the chest. Go east to another fork; go up first
and grab the [_OLD BOOK VOL. 2_] out of the chest, then go back and take
the southern path. Go down and left past the stairs and open the chest for
[_5000 BITS_]. Now go up the stairs and north, then get the
[_ESCAPE TALISMAN_] before going down some more stairs.

Head south through this little room, and you'll be in


another large room with a hidden path. If you follow the
lines to the left, it will lead you to the magician Crowley.
He is the best magician in the game, but he says the he will
join you when you're castle gets bigger, so we have to wait
a little while longer before he joins.
Head to the middle of this room to a fork; head east and
north first to come to a dead-end with the [_WAR SCROLL_]
that Hugo in the Temple was looking for. Go back to the fork
and head southeast.

Follow the lengthy path here until you come to a fork where you can either
go into a room, or continue north to some stairs; go into the room and get
the [_MEDICINE_] and [_SILVERLET_] out of there. Then go back out and head
north down the stairs. Follow the path down here, and when you can either
go north into a room or east to the next screen, go north into the room
and grab the [_MEGA MEDICINE_] and the [_SKILL RUNE PIECE_].
Go back out and head east, then follow the path the west of the way until
you reach the weapon that Fukien told us about; the Star Dragon Sword, and
it can talk! It will take you into the past...
You'll be in a town with wooden houses; go towards the upper right for a
kid to run that way, then get closer to the house up there for the kid to
run to the lower left, then go over and talk to him; it's Ted! He'll ask
if you've come to take the treasure.

[2] No.

Pick either one, then Ted will be called by his


grandpa. Cleo will notice that his grandpa called him
Ted and will wonder if it's the Ted they
[1] He did remind me of Ted.
know. Choose either option again, then
[2] No, it must be someone else.
go to the upper right and talk to the
Village Chief; he thinks that you were
sent by some woman, but after Viktor insists that you weren't he'll tell

you that you should leave. Go into the house here, and open the chest in
here for a [_MEGA MEDICINE_].
Talk to the Chief again, and Lady Windy will show up, with Neclord! Windy
will demand from the Chief to give her the Soul Eater (?), since she knows
that this is the Village of the Hidden Rune. Another man named Yuber then
decides to set the town ablaze. When Windy tries to take the Soul Eater
from the Chief, he will use it on her and flee.
In the back of the house, the Ted's grandpa will transfer the Soul Eater
over to him, then he will ask you to take Ted and leave while he acts as
a decoy. Leave the house, and follow the path on the edge of the village
to run into Yuber; just as he's about to attack you, Neclord will come in
and stop him so they can go chase the Chief in the forest.
Your party will conclude that this is 300 years in the past, when Ted
acquired the Soul Eater, but now they have to find a way back to the
present. Go back into the house to the north and out the back door, then
follow the path south and west to a chest containing a [_BOAR CRYSTAL_].
Go back and through the house, then go into the house to the south. Open
the chest in the upper right corner for a [_CHAMPION'S CRYSTAL_]. Now,
leave the house and go up the stairs to the light. You'll have a choice
about what to do with Ted.

[2] We can't take him along.

Choose either option, because in any case,


Ted can't leave the past and come with you.
Head up the stairs here, and you'll be back
in the Qlon caves. Head south back to the Star Dragon Sword; he'll ask
Viktor about his mission, and when Viktor says that he's going to kill
Neclord, the Star Dragon Sword decides that he will join Viktor on that
mission. Now Viktor's new weapon is the Star Dragon Sword! (if it's
already leveled to 15, then it's the King Dragon Sword.)
If you want to, you can walk all the way out of here, which is what I'm
going to do. But you should still have that Escape Talisman that you found
earlier, so if you want to, use that to escape to the entrance of Qlon.
Go into the Temple, and go to the upper left part and talk to Hugo. He'll
be glad to see that you've found the War Scroll, and for finding it for
him, he'll join your party! Leave Qlon and go back to HQ. Teleport over to
Garan.

Kai in. I suggest leaving the other spot empty since Hix will be joining
us soon. When you're ready, teleport back to the Warrior's Village.

Now, go back outside and talk to Zorak; Viktor will show him the Star
Dragon Sword. While we were gone, Zorak and the village got invitations
from Neclord to he and Tengaar's wedding, so if we don't hurry up, Tengaar
will be drained of blood! The villagers will leave ahead of us, so after
they're gone, go to the Inn and save. When you're ready, head southwest of
the Warrior's Village and enter Neclord's Castle.

You're the only one who can enter, so Zorak begs you to save Tengaar. As
you go to enter, Hix comes in, saying that he wants to go and help too,
even though Zorak says he's not a warrior yet.

Choose 2, and Hix will get the permission


of Zorak and will become a warrior. He
will then join your party! Now before
continuing on, I recommend going back to Headquarters and sharpening Hix's
weapon, as well as upgrading his equipment. The monsters are tough and
Neclord isn't exactly easy. If you still have the Clone Rune that you had
on Viktor, put it on Hix. I would also recommend putting two Mega
Medicines on each character, and if you want to play it REALLY safe, a
Sacrificial Buddha on each. Once you're prepared, head back and enter the
castle.
Go into the room to the right of the stairs, and go down the stairs in
here to a chest with a [_FULL HELMET_]. You can talk to the Zombie down
here for hints, but you have to pay for them; if you're reading this,
don't bother wasting your money; I'm free! If you want to save your game,
go into the door to the left of the main stairs and go down to the
Journeyman's Crystal.
Back in the first room, head up the stairs to the second floor. Follow the
path up here until you make it out to the balcony. Head left, then down
back into the castle. Keep following the path until you can go up to the
third floor.
Up here, go down to the wall, then left and up into a room with a chest
containing the [_SOUND SETTING 1_]. Head back and enter the room beside
the stairs to get an [_ANTITOXIN_], then enter the room to the lower right
of it for a [_MEDICINE_]. Now enter the room on the upper right, and
you'll see four painting; examine the third one from the left (Chestnut
Tree) 1st, then the second one (Girl in the Early Afternoon) 2nd, the
fourth one (Peasant Girl) 3rd, and the first one (King of the Night) 4th.
A door will open out to the balcony. Head right and then down back inside.
Go into the room below you for some [_EARTH BOOTS_]. Go into the farthest
left room and get the [_GREEN PAINT_], then go through the middle room and
up to the next floor. Go right and into this room for another
[_ANTITOXIN_], then enter the room below that one to find an
[_EARTH RUNE PIECE_]. Go through the upper right door of this area to be
back out on the balcony again; go left and back into the castle.
Go into the first room on the right and grab the [_CAPE OF DARKNESS_],
then go behind it and enter the room above it for a [_MAGIC RUNE PIECE_].
Go to the lower right part of the area and head up these stairs.
You'll see Neclord playing on his giant organ, waiting for sunset. After
he's finished playing his own wedding music, he will turn around and ask
why you took so long. Viktor asks him about the village of North Window,
where Viktor came from, and Neclord thinks that he remembers him, but the
village doesn't really ring a bell. Viktor draws the Star Dragon Sword,
and Hix will draw his sword Tengaar, and the battle with Neclord will
commence!

FIRST OFF BEFORE WASTING ANY OF YOUR SPELLS, have Viktor

Defends so you will be able to attack him normally. Once

you've done that, have Flik and Cleo use the strongest
spells on their runes, and when they start to run low on
[Bits] 10,000
MP, just have them attack/heal. Have Hix use the Clone
rune, and then heal when he's unbalanced, and finally,
have Hero, Viktor, and Kai just use normal attacks, and heal when

necessary. He hits VERY HARD, so be prepared to have someone heal every


round with Mega Medicines. He's tough, but if you keep everyone above 250
HP, you should make it through.
The Star Dragon Sword says that he is the reincarnation of the Night Rune,
and since Neclord is just a servant of the night, he cannot hurt him.
Viktor will take the Start Dragon Sword, and will strike Neclord down for
good! Tengaar has been saved, so it's time to head out of here.
Before doing ANYTHING, take off anything important on Viktor; he'll be
leaving temporarily. Before leaving this place, go behind the staircase;
there's a stained glass window to your south; search the circle at the
top of the window to find a [_RAGE CRYSTAL_].
Guess what? You can't use an Escape Talisman in this castle, so you now
have the fun task of walking ALL THE WAY back down. When you reach the
front of the castle, Zorak will be glad to see Tengaar safe. Viktor tells
you that since Neclord is gone, he must travel to his village and deliver
the news to everyone, but he promises to return to the Liberation Army.

Choose 2 to let him leave. Tengaar says


that she would like to join the
Liberation Army with Hix, so when Viktor
leaves, Tengaar takes his spot in the battle party. Now, leave here and
teleport back to Headquarters.

Before doing anything, get on your boat and leave the castle, then once
you're on the World Map, re-enter Headquarters. You will see a scene
showing that your castle has gotten bigger yet again; and since the flag
is on it this time, that means that it's as big as it can get! Sweet!
Head up to the fourth floor and talk to Mathiu. He says that Kasim Hazil
has been put in charge of the northern defenses, and he will run the
numbers by you about how many troops they have, and we only have enough
to take on just Kasim Hazil. Humphrey speaks up, saying that he's an old
friend of Joshua, Commander of the Knights of the Dragon's Den, so he will
join you so you can go talk to them to see if they'll join.

asking for his help. Even though Mathiu doesn't trust him, Leon decides
that he will help the Liberation Army and fight with Mathiu one last time.
Leave Kalekka, then head over to Qlon.

Head into the caves once again. Go north to the next screen,
then down the stairs to the third screen, then east and
south to the fourth screen. Head east and then south at the
fork on this screen, then follow the path up a set of stairs
then down another set on the next screen. Head south through
this little room, and you'll be in the big room where you
can find Crowley. Head south from the entrance and search
the bottom wall for the entrance, then follow the diagram to
your left to get to him. Talk to him, and since your castle
is big enough, he will decide to join your party! Head out
of Qlon, then head over to, yes, Neclord's Castle.

Now march all the way back down, then go back to Headquarters. I switched
out my three old members for new ones (Clive, Pesmerga, and Liukan) then
then upgraded their equipment. You REALLY should bring Liukan with you,
since it will save you a trip back and forth to put him in your party in
a little while.
I also put the Spark Rune on Clive since he has a decent speed. The Spark

Rune makes all of the other members of your party that are slower than the
holder of the rune as fast as the holder, and I also put a Ninja Suit
instead of the Dragon Armor on him to boost his speed. Very helpful for
the slow guys like Pesmerga and Humphrey. I also put Killer Runes on
Pesmerga and Humphrey. If you need to prepare for anything else, go ahead.
Then go west-northwest of Antei to the Dragon's Den.

option, then he'll leave to go talk to Joshua of the
Dragon's Den, leaving you with the bill; a measly 200 Bits. Leave Antei
and head back to the Dragon's Den. When you get there, talk to Vincent to
hear him trying to lie his way in. After you talk to him, he will
recognize Humphrey, then decide that he's going to help you out. He will
tell you that you can get into the Dragon's Domain by going through this
hidden path behind the rock. This is our only choice, so go up to the rock
and enter the cave.
*[.NOTE.]* Fight the Sunshine Kings in here until you get
Window Setting 3.
Head north to the next screen, then grab the [_GOLDLET_] to your right.
Continue following the path, grabbing the [_OLD BOOK VOL. 5_] along the
way. Head up to the next screen and go up the stairs here, then go north
to the next screen to a fork; grab the [_POWER GLOVES_] to the east, then
go west and down to fall into a room full of dragons!
A woman named Milia will demand to know what you're doing here, then Futch
will recognize you! Milia will also recognize you as the leader of the
Liberation Army when Futch mentions your name, but when Flik asks why the
dragons are sleeping, she gets all defensive again. She decides that you
have to meet Joshua just to report what they've seen, so leave this area
to be at the World Map.

the Liberation Army, and since it may mean a chance to kill the man who
killed his master, Kreutz will be glad to join.
Go to the second floor and enter the top room to meet with Joshua. He
will want to ask you the purpose of your visit.

that he doesn't know what's wrong
with the dragons; they fell asleep a
months ago and haven't woken up since. They've brought in many doctors
none have been able to cure them. They went looking for Liukan once,
they couldn't find him. Liukan introduce himself to Joshua and he will
him to look at the dragons.

Back at the Dragon's Den, Liukan will look at them and tell Joshua that
they've been poisoned; to cure it, we need Moonlight Weed, Black Dragon
Orchid, and one other thing to be mentioned later. We must go to Seek
Valley to get the Moonlight Weed. To get there, we'll have to fly, and
the only two dragons awake are Black and Thrash, Milia's dragon, so Milia
will join our party to take us there! Leave the Dragon's Den.
Head back to Headquarters first, and put Kai in your party, because the
enemies are tough at Seek Valley, and they are much easier with him. Also,
upgrade Milia's equipment before moving on. Head back to the Fortress.
Go back up to Joshua's room. Open the chest on the left for
[_WINDOW SETTING 2_], then check the bookshelf on the right for
[_OLD BOOK VOL. 4_]. Head back out to the front and go over to the big red
dragon to your left; this is Milia's dragon, Thrash, and she'll fly you
over to Seek Valley on it.

area. It makes no sense that the Journeyman's Crystal is on the OTHER side

of this boss, but we'll have to make do.

crystals are gone and the sphere turns red, then use

your best magic and attacks on the sphere itself. The
attack it uses once it turns red hits everyone for
[Bits] 70,000
about 100-200 damage, so just keep everyone about 250
HP, and you should do great, considering how weak this
boss is compared to how hard Neclord was.
Open the chest on your left for a [_CYCLONE CRYSTAL_], then use the
Journeyman's Crystal. Head north to the next screen, then grab the
[_GOLD NECKLACE_] to your northwest. Continue north to the end of Seek
Valley, and you will find the Moonlight Weed. As you go to grab it, Windy
will appear, then ask you again for the Soul Eater. At this time, she will
bring Ted out to see you!
Ted seems to be possessed by something, and he will ask you to give him
back the Soul Eater.

Pick either option, and something will


happen; Ted will be talking to you in the
darkness, saying that he is being
controlled by Windy's Conqueror Rune; he says that he's about to do
something, so please forgive him for doing it.
Back in reality, Ted will ask you once again to give him back the rune.

Eater.
[2] All right. I'll give it to you.

Pick either option, and Ted will get


closer to you to get the rune; by
doing so, the Soul Eater will give
him just enough power to move, and
with this power, he commands the Soul Eater to take his own soul! With
this gesture by Ted, your Soul Eater is now at full power, unlocking the
level 4 spell, Judgment.
Windy will attempt to take the rune herself, but you will use the Soul
Eater to fend her off. She'll disappear, then Ted will say his final words
and disappear as well. Milia will tell you that this is the Moonlight
Weed, so she'll pick it and you'll receive the [_MOONLIGHT GRASS_].
Make your way back to the entrance and ride Thrash back to the Dragon
Knights' Fortress.

Futch went to Gregminster Palace to get the
the Black Dragon Orchid...alone...
At Gregminster, you'll be
in control of Futch. Head south to the next screen, then examine the
flower on the right; it is the Black Dragon Orchid that Liukan described.
Barbarossa will come in and tell him that it is; Futch will start to get
scared because the Emperor showed up, but then he gets a surprise when he

tells Futch to go ahead and take the Orchid. Grab it, then head north back
to Black. He'll get back on him, and as he goes to take off, Windy
appears, then casts a spell while he's in midair, which cause Black to
crash to the ground...
Later on, Futch will wake up back at the Fortress, with the good news from
Liukan that he combined the three ingredients to wake up the rest of the
dragons. Futch will ask what happened to Black, and then he'll learn that
the third ingredient needed to wake up the dragons was... a dragon liver.
Now that the dragons are awake, Humphrey suggests forging a formal
alliance with the Dragon Knights. Go upstairs and talk to Joshua, and he
will commit his troops to fighting for the Liberation Army, then Joshua
will join your party! He also asks that Humphrey take Futch with him,
since he's no longer allowed at the Dragon's Den since he has no dragon,
so Futch will join as well! Milia asks if you want a ride back to the
castle.

on Thrash out front to be back at HQ.

Go up to the elevator, and you'll see Krin and Kasumi talking about a spy,
but before we figure out what's going on, Krin will run off and Kasumi
will chase him for running his mouth. Go up to the fourth floor and talk
to Mathiu; he tell you that Kasumi and Krin caught this man hanging around
the castle; his name is Taggart, and he was ordered not to talk until he
could talk to you in person.
His master, Master Warren, has been surrounded by Kasim Hazil's troops for
harboring fugitives and rebels, and to make it worse, Viktor was captured
in there as well. We do have troops, but they will need proper training if
they are to attack Kasim Hazil, don't you agree?

Choose 2, and Mathiu will begin to make the


preparations.

Now, before going to bed as Mathiu suggested, we can recruit the Master
Blacksmith, Mace. Talk to Sanchez and make a party of Hero, Stallion,
Maas, Meese, Mose, and Moose. Upgrade their armor, then take them out
leveling; I'd start out at Kalekka to get them broken in, then to the
World Map outside of the Dragon Knights' Fortress, and once they're over
level 48 or so, go to the Fortress and take Trash to Seek Valley.

Head up to the fourth floor, then go to your room. Mathiu will tell you
that a spy has infiltrated the Liberation Army, and he would like to
oversee the military training maneuvers tomorrow to keep an eye out.

Choose 2, then Mathiu will leave you alone to go to


bed. After you've rested, head down to the first floor
and save your game at the Inn. Then head back up to
the fourth floor and talk to Mathiu in his room and ask him if he's ready.

Choose option 1 to move on. As you arrive at the


Maneuvers Site, instead of training, Mathiu will
give the order to go north and attack the
Imperial Forces! After Flik and Sanchez say a few words, Mathiu will ask
you to give the order to go.
At the Northern Checkpoint, the soldiers will let Master Griffith know
that the Liberation Army is about to attack, since he only received info
that they were just training today, they're not ready to go! Another Major
Battle commences!

Viktor and Warren. Our party will be Hero, Kasumi, Krin, Griffith, and
three others (I'm taking Clive, Kai, and Luc, putting the Cyclone Rune on
Luc). If something goes wrong, Mathiu has asked someone else for support,
but won't tell us who.
You'll automatically be back at Northern Checkpoint. After Mathiu unveils
the plan, you'll be back on the World Map. Re-enter Northern Checkpoint.
Open the chest to the lower right for [_OLD BOOK VOL. 7_], then leave once
again. Now, I know you're not prepared for this, because I'm pretty sure
that you've never used Krin, so head back to Headquarters and get ready.
Like I said before, I put the Cyclone Rune on Luc and a Holy Rune on Krin
because he's pretty useless. Once you're done, you might want to go train
for a little bit on the World Map outside of the Dragon Knights' Fortress,
then use the woman inside the Fortress to heal yourselves. When you're
ready, teleport back to the Northern Checkpoint and exit to the north.

balcony; go right and back inside, then move up two screens. Get the
[_MEGA MEDICINE_] out of the chest in this room, then go down and left
again out to the balcony. Krin will fix a rope out here so you can cross,
so head left and back inside, then grab the [_NEEDLE_] and head right and
back outside again.

Go into the next window to be at the prison. Kasumi will open it up while
Krin teases Viktor, then Warren will join your party! Sadly, you don't get
a chance to open the chest in there, nor talk to Vincent, so we'll have to
come back again shortly.
Back in Kasim Hazil's room, he'll be talking to Mathiu about why he
decided to join the Liberation Army, and before they know it, Moravia
castle will be surrounded by our forces. Kasim says that we're doomed
anyway, because when the forces return from the decoy attacks, we will be
crushed. That will be followed by news of those groups being attacked by
the City-States of Jowston!
Now that Kasim is pretty much trapped and out of ideas, you'll return to
talk to him. Mathiu will ask him to surrender, and while he thinks about
it, Milich Oppenheimer will come in to persuade him to join the Liberation
Army with them, and he will agree. Kasim Hazil has joined our party! Now,
we must leave before Jowston attacks us too. (The messenger, Taggart, has
also automatically joined our party without us being told.)
Back out on the World Map, go back in to Moravia, and make your way back
to the prison on the top floor.
Once you're there, open the chest for a [_MOTHER EARTH CRYSTAL_], then
talk to Vincent de Boule. He will thank you for rescuing him, then
renounce his aristocratic title and agree to fight by your side, a fancy
way of saying that he's joined your party! Make your way back to the exit
of Moravia. Don't teleport back to Headquarters, however, go south back
into Northern Checkpoint.

and Sancho join your party! Leave here and teleport back to Headquarters.

Go to the fourth floor and talk to Mathiu. He


says that we can now match the Imperial Army on
equal terms, so we will march to Gregminster
soon, but to do so, we must march through Sonya
Shulen's Floating Fortress of Shasarazade. Lepant thinks we should go
through Kwaba, but Mathiu says they will expect that; he will have 500
boats ready to go to Shasarazade tomorrow.

will rest early tonight in preparation
of tomorrow. You'll see scenes between
Mathiu and Humphrey about the Kalekka incident, Gen and Kamandol's
bonding, Pahn and Cleo's thoughts about the battle and of you, Tai Ho, Yam
Koo, and Kimberly's night of celebrating, Hix and Tengaar's own squabbles,
Flik and Sanchez's thoughts of Lady Odessa, Krin's dreams, Liukan and

Fukien's concerns of the young, and finally, you and Viktor. Viktor will
give you back Gremio's Hatchet, the [_COPPER AXE_] that was left in
Soniere. He will give you some words of encouragement, then leave you to
your rest. The next morning, head out of your room.
Head to the first floor and save at the Inn, then go out to your boat.
You will see that Mathiu has met his quota of 500 boats, and they're all
made of ice! Mathiu had Thrash use its breath to freeze and create all of
the boats. Back in the War Room, Mathiu asks if you're ready.

I took the Cyclone Rune off of Crowley and put it on Tengaar. If any

Go over towards Mathiu, and he will command the troops to unload the oil
barrels; he's going to burn down this fortress, but first, we have to
close the floodgate at the far end of it. Viktor will join your party, so
choose whomever else, save your game to the left, then enter the Flying
Fortress.

Go down the stairs on the upper left, then follow the path, grabbing the
[_CHAOS SHIELD_] to your north. Then keep going and go up the stairs to
the next screen. Go down the stairs here and go left to the next area,
then make your way over to the chest in the upper left for a
[_GUARD RING_]. Head south from it, then open the chest in the lower left
for a [_MASTER GARB_]. (I equipped it on Viktor since he has low SKL.)
Go right and follow the path until you go down two sets of stairs and go
left to the next area. You'll be at a fork; head west and get the
[_MEGA MEDICINE_] out of the chest, then go back and head south to meet
up with the first of two bosses.

Save both of your Judgment spells for the next boss.

Have Luc cast Storm every round, unless your party took

even a little damage, then use Shining Wind to attack

heal at the same time. Have Hix and Tengaar use their

regularly. Luc's Shining Wind should keep everyone
healed to the max every time it's used.
After the battle, head down a little to close the floodgate. Grab the
[_THUNDER CRYSTAL_] to your left, then start to make your way out of this
place. Once you get close to the exit, you'll meet up with Sonya Shulen.
She will ask you why you betrayed your father and the Empire.

She's fast and hits hard, but with this strategy, you should stay alive.
After the battle, Sonya decides that since she has been defeated, she will
die in this Fortress; Viktor will run over and save her, then you'll need
to run out of here.
Once you get back to the surface, you'll find out that Sanchez lit the oil
barrels before he was supposed to; Sanchez will tell you that he is the
spy that's been leaking information, and that he's also responsible for
Odessa's death. Flik will draw his sword and go to cut off his head, but
Mathiu will tell him not to, because if the troops find out about it, they
may lose morale, so they'll keep it a secret for now. Mathiu is badly

hurt due to the blast, so they'll return to the castle.

Head down to B1 where Viki is. You'll see Sonya talking to Cleo, saying
that she's a traitor as well. Cleo knows about her relationship with
Master Teo, and Sonya could be someone like your mother, but she hates
you, which Cleo doesn't think is right. Lastly, she tells Sonya that Teo
seemed at peace when he died, because he saw his son surpass him.
Go over and talk to Sonya. She wonders if you're going to execute her.
[1] I have no business with you.
[2] I want you to join us.

Choose option 2, and she'll say that


she still hates you, but wonders if
you want her to join anyway. Choose option
[1] You have a point there.
2 again, and she says that she'll join you,
[2] I don't mind.
not to help you fight, but to watch you die.
How nice of her! Sonya, the 108th Star, will join your
party! Go to the Inn and save your game.
Go up to the War Room on the fourth floor and talk to Mathiu. He says that
all that is left is to take the capital. He will ask you to give the
command to gather all of the forces to march on Gregminster.
[1] Let's wait and see what
happens.
[2] March to the capital.

Choose option 2, and Mathiu will tell you


to gather all of the troops to raise their
morale. After everyone's words of
encouragement, Leknaat will appear. She
will tell you the truth of everything; Windy is planning on destroying
everything, and she along with Leknaat possess the Rune of the Gate in two
forms; the front and back runes, or entrance and exit runes. Leknaat has
the exit rune, and Windy has the entrance rune. Windy tried to take the
rune from her before, but she was able to escape and isolate herself on
Magician's Island.
She's been waiting for someone like you to come along, to gather the 108
Stars of Destiny to defeat someone like Windy. Viktor will tell her that
they only have 107 here, since the other one was Gremio. Leknaat will use
her power of the Rune of the Gate, and bring Gremio back into the present
with us! With the power of the 108 Stars and the Rune of the Gate, one
can bring back life, but it can only happen once. A few more words from
Mathiu will follow, and finished off by your one word; Victory!
You'll see some more individual scenes between Varkas and Sydonia, Gen,
and Kuromimi, then you'll be back in the War Room.

If you have been following my guide since the start, you should have all
108 Stars. All of the following is completely optional, but if you're
going for a perfect game, and are preparing for Suikoden II, all of this
is necessary. If you don't have some of the things below, use the search
feature and look for it earlier in the guide.
Here's a list of things you should to do before talking to Mathiu.
% Leveling up - Why now and not later? Here's why; you can put 5 people of
your choice in your party right now, the only required member is Hero.
If you wait until after, you will only have 3, because Flik and Viktor
will be required as well.
You MUST level up these three; Hero, Viktor, and Flik. Choose three
others that you will want in your final party, and level them up as
well. You will also want to level up all of the characters who will be
returning to Suikoden II, and will fight, not just open up a shop or
something. These people are...

I recommend getting them all to level 52 or higher, which is quite easy


at Moravia Castle. You will also want to get all of their weapons to
level 16; again, fight at Moravia Castle for money, as it's a sure thing
compared to playing Dice. You can either get all of them leveled up in
just three groups, if you leave either Flik or Viktor out, but I
strongly recommend using four groups, and having Hero and Kai in each
one so you have an easier time leveling up. You can put armor on them if
if you really want to, but only Level and Weapon Level really matter. It
won't carry over at
Group 1 - Viktor, Flik,
Tengaar, Luc
these levels, but they
Group 2 - Valeria, Hix,
Tai Ho, Kasumi
will give them a boost
Group 3 - Pesmerga, Stallion, Clive, Lorelai in S2 so they're higher
Group 4 - Humphrey, Sheena, Futch, Meg
than they would be.
The character who has
the highest level when you complete the game will also get a 5 level
boost in Suikoden II. Don't bother sharpening any magic user's weapon if
they're an S, because they're too weak to fight in the front row anyway.
You can do whatever you want to with anyone else in the game; I just go
through and strip them of all of their equipment and their runes, since
I won't be using them.
% Give all of the Old Books (Volumes 1-8) to Hugo on the third floor, in
the lower left corner. Check them out if you want to learn something.
% Give all of the Paints (Yellow, Red, Green, Blue, Black, White, and
Pink) to Ivanov on the third floor to the lower right, and view the
mural. Once it's complete, he will give you the [_BINOCULARS_]. To use
them, you must have controller 2 hooked up; use the buttons on that
controller to change your view in battle.
% Give all of the Window Sets (0-3) to Window. Take the western path on
the second floor outside, then go west at the fork and follow the path
all the way to the top.
% Give all of the Sound Sets that you have (0-3) to Melodye. Take the
western path on the second floor outside, then go west at the fork and

follow the path all the way to the top.


If you need to prepare for anything else, now's the time. Save your
game, and when you're ready, talk to Mathiu
[1] Wait a minute.
and choose option 2 to begin your march on
[2] All right. Let's go!
Gregminster. Almost to the final battle!
At the battlefield, you'll see Kanaan and Yuber. Somehow, they've come up
with 100,000 troops! Leknaat says that the majority of them must be
monsters that Windy created. Leknaat will try to use her Gate Rune to get
rid of them, but she can't do it by herself.
[1] The Soul Eater...
[2] Then what...

Choose either option, and Joshua will come in and


help her get rid of them with his Dragon Rune.
With all of the monsters gone, you will begin the
Last Battle against the Empire!

Ledon to spy, then counter.
Giovanni to spy, then counter.

After the battle, you'll see that both the Chief of the Dwarves and the
leader of the Ninjas of Rokkaku, Hanzo, came just in time to help out
with the battle, as well as Zorak from the Warrior's Village. You will
then charge into Gregminster...

Viktor and Flik will join your party, then pick the rest of your party as
well. Make sure to stop in at the Item Shop and Armory here in Gregminster
to upgrade your equipment. You may also want to go out on the World Map
and fight the enemies here for more levels so you're better prepared for
Gregminster.

is an Imperial General, and he will fight
you to protect the Emperor.

After you beat him, I STRONGLY recommend heading back to either HQ or one
of the surrounding towns to rest at an Inn to recover your MP. Then come
back to Gregminster, and head north inside the Palace. Once inside, go to
the right side of the room and open the chest in the lower right room for
the [_WINDSPUN ARMOR_].
*[.NOTE.]* If you will be using this data for Suikoden II, I STRONGLY
recommend going back to Headquarters and equipping the Windspun Armor on
Humphrey; as far as I know, he's the only character in the game whose
Armor will carry over; in Suikoden II, his armor is locked so you can't
unequip/change it, but if you equip the Windspun Armor on him now, he'll
have the Windspun Armor in Suikoden II. Just thought I'd let you know.
Follow the carpet up to be attacked by some Imperial Guards, then go up
and left, then up the stairs. Follow the path to the Throne Room, then go
through the door to the left of the throne and follow this path to the
next floor.
Head right and up to be attacked again, then follow the carpet up to the
next screen to be ambushed by five sets of Imperial Guards. After you've
taken care of them, go left and up through the doorway to the next screen,
then follow the path while being ambushed by five more sets of Guards. Go
up the stairs, then through the doorway and east to be ambushed by another

group of Guards.
Don't go north just yet; go east and open the chest for a
[_HORNED HELMET_], then go back to the last doorway and head north to a
fork. Go west to a room to find a Journeyman's Crystal and a
[_POWER RING_].
THIS IS THE FINAL SAVE POINT IN THE GAME! SAVE HERE IF YOU WANT TO USE
THIS DATA FOR SUIKODEN II.
[My Party] Hero [62], Viktor [61], Flik [61] After you save, go back to
Kai [62], Tengaar [61], Luc [61] the fork and head east,
[My Time] 47:18
then up the stairs. Follow
the long red carpet to the Gardens on the roof. Head all
the way north to meet with Barbarossa. He says that this garden is all
that he has left of his Empire, and he will defend it with his own hands.
He will use his Dragon King Sword to transform himself into the Golden
Hydra!

The Golden Hydra has three different heads to attack.

Between Luc and Tengaar, you should have about 10 level
[ Golden Hydra ] 3 spells, so have them both cast Storm each round, but
**************
if you're party has taken damage, have one of them cast
Shining Wind, and alternate between who casts Shining
Wind each time, and your party should stay well healed throughout the
battle. Note that the Left Head will not take any damage by the Wind/
Cyclone Runes. Do not use Lightning on the Middle Head, since it will
block it but concentrate all of your attacks on the Left Head; use
Judgment and Thunder God on the Left Head, and when you run out of those,
use Black Shadow and Ball of Lightning, while having Kai and Viktor attack
the Left Head as well. Once the Left Head is gone, concentrate all attacks
on the Right Head, then finally, the Middle Head. By the time you get to
the Middle Head, you'll probably be using all physical attacks except for
Luc and Tengaar. As long as you have Tengaar and Luc do their things with
the Cyclone Runes, you shouldn't have any trouble with this boss. Just
hope that you get rid of the Left Head before it starts to heal itself
and/or resurrect the other heads as well.
After you beat the Golden Hydra, the other four former Imperial Generals
will come in, then Windy will come in as well. When she goes to try to
take your Soul Eater, the souls of Odessa, Gremio, Teo, and Ted will come
together will reject Windy. Windy will then attempt to take out Barbarossa
but she can't since the Sovereign Rune on his Dragon King Sword protects
him from all magic. Barbarossa will then take Windy, and jump off the top
of the Imperial Palace with his love in his arms...
All of a sudden, the Imperial Palace will start to crumble, so we've got
to get out of here quickly! Start making your way back, and on the way,
Viktor will volunteer to stall a group of Guards while you escape.
[1] Don't be ridiculous, Viktor.
[2] Hurry.

Choose either option because he's going


to stay anyway. Keep going towards the
exit, and you'll run into another group.
[1] I can't leave you here.
Flik can't let you die, since Odessa chose
[2] Stay alive, Flik.
you to rebuild the country, so he'll stay
behind to fight as well. Choose either option, and
you'll exit the Palace while Viktor meets up with Flik to fight the rest.
After you escape the Palace, everyone will be glad to see that the Empire
has been destroyed! In one of the tents, Mathiu is hearing the voices of

victory. Liukan tells him that they have indeed won, so now Mathiu can
rest peacefully...
