Wiring
Figures 6.8 and 6.9 show the wire routing, grounding terminal and
power terminal blocks of the IPS Tempos.
ATTENTION: Do not route signal and control wiring with
power wiring in the same conduit. This can cause interference
with IPS Tempo operation. Failure to observe this precaution
could result in damage to or destruction of the equipment.
Do not route more than three sets of motor leads through a
single conduit. This will minimize cross-talk that could reduce the
effectiveness of noise reduction methods. If more than three IPS
Tempo/motor connections per conduit are required, shielded cable
must be used. If possible, each conduit should contain only one
set of motor leads.

Motor Wiring
This is the safety ground for the IPS Tempo that is required by
code. This point must be connected to adjacent building steel
(girder, joist), a floor ground rod or bus bar. Grounding points
must comply with national and local industrial safety regulations
and/or electrical codes.

Hard-Wired I/O
Hardwired I/O is provided via I/O that resides in the Control
Cassette and connects to the Main Control Board with a removable
connector. Two versions are provided based upon the need for
24Vdc inputs or for 115Vac inputs.
Control Cassette
The Control cassette has dedicated digital I/O and analog I/O.
These cassettes are available in two versions; one for 115 VAC
digital I/O and one for 24V DC digital I/O. Both cassettes
contain the following I/O points:
Analog I/O
(2) differentially isolated 10V (bi-polar) / 20 mA analog
inputs, 11 bit plus sign, 160V common mode noise
rejection. Both inputs are fully user programmable for a
variety of uses including frequency command, process
loop inputs and others. Inputs are programmable for
function, scaling (including invert), offset, signal loss
detect and square root.
(2) differentially isolated bipolar 10V (bi-polar) / 20 mA
analog output, 11 bit plus sign. Both are fully user
programmable to be proportional to one of 25 process
parameters including output frequency, output current,
encoder feedback, output power and others.
Programming is available to select either absolute or
signed values of these parameters.
(1) input for motor protection thermistor (1.8k PTC). Drive
will provide fault protection if temperature exceeds
protection value.
Digital I/O
(6) digital inputs 24V DC or 115 VAC inputs are configurable
as sink or source. All inputs are individually
programmable for functions from a list of 57 that include:
Start (3-wire control), Run (2-wire control), Stop,
External fault, Speed select, Jog, Process PI functions,
Level-sensitive Run and others. 24V Inputs draw
11.2 mA each and require a 20V minimum for ON state
and a maximum of 5V for OFF state. 115V inputs draw
5 mA each and require a 100V minimum for ON state
and a maximum of 30V for OFF state.

Encoder Feedback
As an option, one incremental encoder interface can be
provided. This option is selectable to receive either 5V or
12V from an encoder with a maximum of 250 kHz. The
encoder interface also has the ability to power the
encoder. Minimum high state voltage is 3.5Vdc (5V
mode) and 7.0Vdc (12V mode). Maximum low state
voltage is 1Vdc (for both 5V and 12V modes). This
encoder option can accept three channels (A, B and Z).
The Z input can be used as a pulse input.
Reference Signals
The drive is capable of the following speed reference signals:
Digital MOP
Jog
OIM (Program/Control panel)
Analog Input signals (2)
Preset Speeds (7)
Communication module commands
Encoder Feedback
Pulse Input (through Z-channel of encoder)
Analog input references are independently scaleable, both
from the analog input side and from the speed reference side.
A bi-polar analog signal (-10V to + 10V) may also be used to
control direction.
The drive has over speed protection in the event that the output
frequency exceeds the maximum reference by a specified amount.
All reference signals may have a trim signal applied to them
for finer resolution and accuracy. Trim source and amount is
programmable.
Loss Of Reference
The drive is capable of sensing the following reference loss
conditions:
Remote potentiometer wiper loss
2-10V DC signals below 1 volts (reset at 1.5 volts)
4-20 mA signals below 2 mA (reset at 3 mA)
In the event of loss of an analog input reference signal, the drive is
user programmable to the following:
Fault the drive
Alarm and maintain last reference
Alarm and go to preset speed
Alarm and go to minimum speed
Alarm and go to maximum speed
Alarm and maintain last output frequency
Signal loss detection is available regardless of the function of the
analog input.

Adjustments
The digital interface is used for all set-up, operation and
adjustment settings. All adjustments are stored in nonvolatile
memory (EEPROM). No potentiometer adjustments are used.
The drive provides EEPROM memory for factory default values
and user stored drive configurations.
Auto Economizer
This feature automatically reduces the output voltage when the
drive is at a constant speed and partial load. The voltage is reduced
to minimize flux current in a lightly loaded motor thus reducing kW
usage. If the load increases, the drive will automatically return to
normal operation.
Bus Regulation:
DC Bus regulation is available to reduce the possibility of drive
overvoltage trips due to regenerative conditions. The drives
reaction to a Bus voltage increase is programmable to one of
5 options.
Disabled: Faults the drive on Overvoltage Fault
Adjust Frequency: Adjusts the drives output frequency to
maintain bus voltage at a predetermined regulation level.
Dynamic Brake: Dissipates the excess energy on the bus
through the internal DB chopper and connected resistor.
Both DB 1st: Begins by actuating the dynamic brake.
If more response is needed, the drive will then adjust the
output frequency.
Both FRQ 1st: Begins by adjusting the output frequency.
If more response is needed, the drive will then actuate the
dynamic brake.
Two bus regulation levels are available and are accessible through
the digital inputs.

Braking Options
Dynamic Braking
The drives have either a standard or optional built in 7th IGBT for
use as a dynamic braking chopper. This IGBT can provide at least
100% braking torque on a continuous basis. Drives less than
30 HP, 480V also have an optional drive mounted dynamic
braking resistor for low level braking applications and interactive
software to protect the internally mounted resistor from abuse.
If the resistors duty cycle or power rating is exceeded, the drive
software manages the operation of the 7th IGBT to bring the
loading below the resistors maximum level.

Communications Interface
The drive has the capability for either internally mounted or
externally mounted communications interface cards. Internal cards
use drive power and can operate at higher speeds. Externally
mounted cards are separately powered and connected to the drive
via a cable. The following are available:
DeviceNet
EtherNet/IP
ControlNet Coax
Others - Other open control and communication network interface
cards are available, including Profibus and Interbus-S, and
Modbus-RTU.

All three modes can be used with an encoder feedback option for
tighter speed regulation.
Current Limit
Programmable current limit from .1 amps to 150% of drive rated
amps. Current limit is active for all drive states: accelerating,
constant speed and decelerating. Both the source of the current
limit value and the gain for responsiveness adjustment are
programmable. The drive employs PI regulation with an adjustable
gain for smooth transition in and out of current limit.
Memory Storage
Fault Memory
Droop Control
Flying Start
The drive is capable of determining the speed and direction of a
spinning motor and adjusts its output to "pick-up" the motor at the
rotating speed. This advanced feature can connect to a spinning
motor almost instantaneously. It does not rely on a slower speed
search algorithm.

Ride Through
The control logic is capable of "riding through" a power outage of
at least two seconds in duration. The inverter section is shut off
after an 18 percent drop in bus voltage to conserve power for the
drive logic. The ride-through method and trigger point are
adjustable by the user.

Start At Power Up
A user programmable restart function is provided to automatically
restart the equipment after restoration of power after an outage.
A maintained two-wire start input is required for this function.
Start Up Routines
Start up routines allow the user to commission the drive more
quickly and accurately.
Start Up routine to aid the user in commissioning the drive asking
simple Yes/No or Enter Data questions. The user is guided
through the Start Up to reduce the amount of time necessary
to get the drive up and running. The following are included
in start up:
Input Voltage Ratings
Motor Data
Motor Tests & Auto-tuning
Speed/Torque Control & Direction Limits
Speed Reference
Start & Stop Modes
Ramp setup
Digital and analog I/O
Auto-Tune is available independently or as a part of Start Up to aid
in setup of the Sensorless vector and Vector control algorithms.
Both a static (motor does not rotate) and a dynamic (motor
rotates) routine are available. If tuning is not desirable, the drive
can be instructed to calculate the values for tuning directly based
on entered motor data.

Pumps
The two features that are unique for the IPS Tempo as compared
to the other smart drives on the market, designated for pumps,
are the Pump Power Monitor (PPM) and the Auto Set-point
Adjustment Monitor (ASAM):
PPM: This monitor is unique as it utilizes similar input information
as the Flowserve KW 941 PowerMonitor and has delay features
that are similar in operation. The user selects a standard speed
such as 1800 or 3600 rpm and inputs the minimum and maximum
acceptable brake horse power corresponding to the rpm. The IPS
Tempo has built-in programming (if this feature is selected) to vary
the selected minimum and maximum acceptable break horsepower,
based on the pump affinity laws. The competition (ITT Goulds
PumpSmart) requires the end-user to put in the BEP point and
then calculate a percentage of the BEP to set the min and max
levels. This method is not as user friendly and makes viewing the
actual brake hp and comparing to the min / max not as practical.
Also, it should be noted that the PumpSmart unit utilizes torque
in lieu of horsepower, which is not the universal power unit used
for pumps.
ASAM: The Auto Set-point Adjustment Monitor is a unique
program that Flowserve designed to enable the end-user to
incorporate pump curve properties, by means of a scalar routine,
that are used to control the speed of the pump so as to avoid
detrimental operating conditions or to optimize the pump
performance. Competitors such as ITT Goulds PumpSmart PS200
utilize different methods which are not as easy to implement and
are not as versatile. The IPS Tempo ASAM feature can be used to
optimize tank load-out applications or multiple pump operations.
Manual Override
Manual Override is an IPS Tempo feature that enables the end user
to manually take control of the IPS Tempo drive in lieu of allowing
the drive to operate in automated speed or process mode.
IPS Tempo logic allows the end-user to choose whether to keep
the IPS Tempo pump protection monitors enabled or disabled
while manual override is in effect.
ITT Goulds Pumpsmart has the manual override feature.
However, all PumpSmart protection monitors are disabled if
the drive is in manual override mode. This can be detrimental
to the pump.

Procedure:
1. Flowserve sales must determine if the problem is with the IPS
Tempo Monitors (application, set-up, etc.) or if the problem is a
drive problem (hardware and/or electrical).
IPS Tempo Monitor assistance should be handled by the
local sales office with assistance, as required, from the
IPS Tempo Design Engineer.
Drive hardware and/or electrical problems should be directed
to the IPS Tempo Design Center. The Design Center will
contact Reliance Electric to get the customer in contact with
the drive specialist.
2. In the event that the customer feels as though the problem is
due to a manufacturing defect, which is covered under
warranty according to the terms and conditions of sale
agreement with the particular customer, the sales office:
a) Should get a return authorization number (RA#) from
Memphis Operations.
b) Send the (RA#) along with shipping instructions to the
customer.
c) Have the customer ship the IPS Tempo in question freight
pre-paid to the designated service center.
d) Obtain a Purchase Order for a new IPS Tempo drive if an
immediate replacement is required.
e) Obtain the inspection report from the designated service
center so that it can be determined if the original drive is in
fact covered by warranty.
If the original IPS Tempo is determined to have a
manufacturing defect, then a credit will be issued for
the original drive.
If the original IPS Tempo is determined to not have a
manufacturing defect, then the drive will be shipped
back to the customer, pre-paid, and the customer will
potentially own two IPS Tempo drives (the original plus
the replacement IPS Tempo).

6. Changes:
Buyer may request modifications as to the amount, scope and/or nature of the Equipment to be supplied by a written change request. Buyer may also request modifications,
including but not limited to drawings, models, instructions, specifications, quantities, method of shipment, packing, place of delivery or delivery dates for the Equipment. If, in
the opinion of Seller, any modification will affect the agreed fixed price and/or time of delivery, Seller will notify Buyer thereof in writing and will not be obligated to perform any
modification unless agreed to by Seller. Buyer shall confirm that such change is authorized and accepted by issuing a Purchase Order revision.
7. Setoff:
All amounts that Buyer owes Seller under an Order shall be due and payable according to the terms of an Order. Buyer is prohibited from, and shall not set off such amounts or
any portion thereof, whether or not liquidated, against sums which Buyer asserts are due it, its parent affiliates, subsidiaries or other divisions or units under other transactions
with Seller, its parent affiliates, subsidiaries or other divisions or units.
8. Cancellation:
Buyer reserves the right to cancel any portion of an Order affected by a default of Seller or any insolvency or suspension of Sellers operations or any petition filed or proceeding
commenced by or against Seller under any state or federal law relating to bankruptcy, arrangement, reorganization, receivership or assignment for the benefit of creditors.
9. Non-Disclosure and Non-Use of Sellers Information:
Buyer agrees that it will not use Sellers data for the manufacture or procurement of products which are the subject of an Order or any similar products, or cause said products
to be manufactured by, or procured from, any other source or reproduce said data and information or otherwise appropriate them without the written authorization of the Seller.
Buyer agrees that it will not disclose or make available to any third-party any of Sellers data or other information pertaining to this Order which is proprietary to Seller without
obtaining Sellers prior written consent.
10. Patent Indemnity:
Except insofar as an Order calls for equipment pursuant to Buyers designs, drawings or specifications, Seller agrees to pay the amount of any final judgment against Buyer
resulting from a suit claiming that any commercial equipment manufactured or furnished hereunder, by reason of their manufacture, sale or use, infringes any United States
patent which has issued at date of an Order, and Buyers reasonable costs and expenses in defense of such suit if Seller does not undertake the defense thereof, provided Seller
is promptly notified of the threat or commencement of such suit and is offered full and exclusive control to conduct the defense or settlement thereof.
Sellers indemnity shall not apply where infringement would not have occurred from the normal use for which the equipment was designed. Sellers liability for damages hereunder
is limited to those computed solely on the value of any equipment sold to Buyer. In no event shall Seller be liable for consequential damages or costs applicable thereto. In the
event of any claim that equipment furnished hereunder infringes any United States patent, Seller may at its option and expense (a) procure for Buyer the right to continue using
the product, or (b) replace or modify the product so that it becomes non-infringing, or (c) grant Buyer a credit for such product, less a reasonable depreciation for use, damage,
and obsolescence upon its return to Seller. Buyer agrees to pay all costs and expenses incurred by Seller in its defense and the amount of any judgment against Seller, in any suit
or proceeding against Seller based upon a claim of infringement, resulting solely from the Buyer combining any equipment furnished hereunder with any item not manufactured
or furnished by Seller or from the sale or use of any such combination by Buyer. Seller shall also indemnify Buyers customers and agents for such infringement if, and to the
extent that, Buyer has agreed so to indemnify them, but to no greater extent than Seller has indemnified Buyer herein and under the same conditions as set forth herein. In the
event any equipment to be furnished under this Order is to be made in accordance with drawings, samples or manufacturing specifications designated by Buyer and is not the
design of Seller, Buyer agrees to defend, indemnity and hold Seller harmless to the same extent and subject to the same requirements as set forth in Sellers obligation to Buyer
as above. The above is in lieu of any other indemnity or warranty, express or implied by Seller, with respect to intellectual property (patents, trade secret, mask works, trademarks,
copyrights, or the like).
11. Special Tooling and Data:
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, all material, software, data processes, equipment, facilities and special tooling, which term includes but is not limited to jigs, dies, fixtures,
molds, patterns, special taps, special gages, special test equipment, other special equipment and manufacturing aids and replacements thereof, used in the manufacture of
products covered by an Order shall be and remains the property of Seller. Seller retains all rights, title and interest in drawings, engineering instructions, specifications, and all
other written data, if any, furnished with equipment.
12. Import Permit or License:
In the event an import permit or license is required by Buyers or End Users authorities for the Equipment sold hereunder, performance is subject to Sellers prior receipt of
evidence satisfactory to Seller that an appropriate import permit or license has been granted. As to any such permit or license Buyer shall advise Seller of the validity, number, date
of issue and whether the expiration date refers to clearance from the port of departure or arrival at the port of destination. Buyer assumes all responsibility for the procurement
thereof and any expenses incurred therein related to any import permit or license. In the event currency exchange controls exist in Buyers country, Buyer shall so state.
13. Export License:
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, Buyer shall be responsible for compliance with the export control laws and regulations of the U.S. Government or the jurisdiction where
Sellers manufacturing facility accepting the Order is located, and when required by such laws and regulations shall obtain export and re-export licenses required for goods,
services and technical data delivered under an Order. Seller shall not be liable to Buyer for any failure to provide goods, services or technical data as a result of any of the following
governmental actions: (1) refusal to grant export or re-export license; (2) cancellation of export or re-export license, or (3) any subsequent interpretation of the export laws and
regulations, after the date of an Order, that limits or has a material adverse effect on the cost of Sellers performance on an Order. Sellers performance hereunder is subject to
Sellers prior receipt of evidence satisfactory to Seller that an appropriate export license has been granted. If Seller assists in obtaining any export license, Buyer shall reimburse
Seller for all expenses.
14. Taxes:
Sellers price does not include, and Seller is not responsible for, payment of any tax levied for sales, use, excise, value-added, goods and services, business (franchise or privilege)
or any duties, charges or other such taxes. Seller is only responsible for any tax imposed on Seller, by taxing authorities in Sellers jurisdiction, which are based on Sellers
revenue, income, net income, net assets, net worth, or capital or any taxes imposed in lieu thereof. Seller accepts sole responsibility and liability for the payment of any and all
contributions or taxes for unemployment insurance, social security payments, or other assessments for those persons performing work for Seller hereunder. If Seller is required
to pay any taxes or other charges that are the responsibility of the Buyer, then Buyer shall promptly reimburse Seller those amounts.
15. Assignment:
Neither party shall assign an Order or any portion thereof without the advance, written consent of the other party, which consent shall not be unreasonably withheld. The nonassigning party shall not have any obligation to an assignee of the assigning party unless such consent is obtained.

16. Waiver:
Failure by Seller to assert all or any of its rights upon any breach of an Order shall not be deemed a waiver of such rights either with respect to such breach or any subsequent
breach, nor shall any waiver be implied from the acceptance of any payment of service. No waiver of any right shall extend to or affect any other right Seller may possess, nor
shall such waiver extend to any subsequent similar or dissimilar breach.
17. Severability:
If any portion of these Conditions of Sale is determined to be illegal, invalid, or unenforceable, for any reason, then such provision shall be deemed stricken for purposes of the
dispute in question and all other provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
18. Disputes:
Except as otherwise specifically agreed in writing by Buyer and Seller, any dispute relating to an Order placed by a Buyer incorporated in the United States which is not resolved
by the parties shall be adjudicated by a court of competent jurisdiction in the state of Texas. For Orders placed by a Buyer incorporated outside the United States, the parties shall
resort to binding arbitration under mutually agreed procedures.
19. Applicable Law:
This Agreement shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Sellers facility accepting the Order hereunder is located, exclusive of any choice
of law provisions. The Seller and Buyer expressly agree to exclude from this Agreement the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods, 1980,
and any successor thereto.
20. Limitation of Liability:
The remedies set forth herein are exclusive, and the total liability of the Seller with respect to this Contract, or any breach thereof, whether based on contract, warranty, tort
(including negligence), indemnity, strict liability or otherwise, shall not exceed the Contract Price of the specific equipment or service which gives rise to the claim except in
the clause entitled Patent Indemnity. IN NO EVENT, WHETHER ARISING BEFORE OR AFTER COMPLETION OF ITS OBLIGATIONS UNDER THE CONTRACT, SHALL SELLER
BE LIABLE FOR SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL OR PENAL DAMAGES OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF USE, REVENUE OR PROFITS,
INVENTORY OR USE CHARGES, COST OF CAPITAL, OR CLAIMS OF CUSTOMERS) INCURRED BY BUYER OR ANY THIRD PARTY.
21. Translations; Governing Language:
English shall be the legal language of this Agreement, and all parties waive any right to use and/or rely upon any other language, translation or interpretation. The parties
specifically agree that in the case of any inconsistencies or interpretation disputes, the English language version shall control.
22. Entire Agreement:
The contract of purchase, consisting of these terms and conditions, Sellers quotation and Buyers order if accepted in writing by Seller, constitutes the entire agreement between
Buyer and Seller. All other previous and collateral agreements (including letters of intent or purchase orders issued by Buyer), representations, warranties, promises and
conditions relating to the subject matter hereof are superseded by the contract of purchase. Any understanding, promise, representation, warranty or condition not incorporated
in the contract of purchase shall not be binding on either party.
