I would like to thank Lord for giving me the courage, patience, strength
and wisdom that I needed to accomplishment of this report of action research.
I would also like to express my deepest thanks and appreciation to my
supervisor, Madam Jenny Kwong Shuk Wah for her unfailing supports and
guidance throughout this action research, who motivated me a lot and gave
me endless ideas and suggestions in producing this report.
Besides that, I would also like to thank my fellow colleagues for their
encouragement and suggestions provided. They taught me that patience is
virtue.
A big thank you I would like to dedicate to my parents for their constant
motivation, who told me that the power of prayers can always guide me in
going through any challenge in life.

to create this action research report.

ABSTRAK

Penyelidikan tindakan ini dijalankan untuk menilai sejauhmanakah


keberkesanan program mentor-mentee dalam menyelesaikan masalah murid
lemah dalam melabel serta menghafal struktur jantung manusia. Responden
dalam kajian ini terdiri daripada 16 orang murid dari Tingkatan 3 Kreatif yang
memperoleh markah terendah bagi mata pelajaran Sains dalam ujian
semester yang lalu. Data dikumpulkan melalui ujian pra dan ujian pasca. Hasil
analisis data mendapati bahawa seramai 13 responden menunjukkan
peningkatan markah yang ketara dalam ujian pasca berbanding ujian pra.
Terdapat 2 orang responden telah memperoleh markah penuh dengan
menunjukkan jumlah peningkatan markah yang sangat tinggi. Keputusan
kajian menunjukkan bahawa program mentor-mentee sangat berkesan dalam
membantu murid lemah melabel serta menghafal struktur jantung manusia.

ABSTRACT

Readers Theatre is a drama activity which promotes fluency in reading aloud.


It is also use to teach punctuation in a fun way as Readers Theatre shows the
way how reading should sound when we see punctuation. This is a twocycle action research on the use of Readers Theatre in the teaching and
learning of punctuation among lower primary pupils. The research aimed to
investigate to what extent Readers Theatre helps to promote the correct use
of full stop, comma, question mark and exclamation mark. Data collected from
49 Year Two pupils using three data collection methods which include
observations, reflective journals, and achievement tests. The findings of both
cycles reveal that the pupils had improved and became more confident in
marking the correct types of punctuation while listening to teachers reading
aloud; the pupils were also able to read aloud with the correct intonation and
stress guided by the punctuation. Hence, Readers Theatre is one suitable
strategy used to teach punctuation among pupils in lower primary level. It is
also suitable to use in teaching integrated language skills. In future study,
research could be carried out to teach other punctuation such as colon,
semicolon, inverted comma etc using Readers Theatre.
