Abstract
Assalam u Alaikum!
The purpose of communication is to get your message
across to others clearly.
Doing this involves effort from both the sender of the
message and the receiver. And it's a process that can be
fraught with error, with messages often misunderstood by
the recipient. When this isn't detected, it can cause
tremendous confusion, wasted effort and missed
opportunity.
This error can be removed by using good communication
skills. To be a good communicator we can make sure that
we communicate in the clearest, most effective way
possible.
This is why the 7 Cs of Communication are helpful. The
7Cs provide a checklist for making sure that your
meetings, emails, conference calls, reports, and
presentations are well constructed and clear. So your
audience gets your message.
When writing or speaking to someone, be clear about your
goal or message. To be clear, try to minimize the number
of ideas in each sentence. Make sure that it's easy for your
reader to understand your meaning.

Introduction
In order to achieve effective business communication
you must understand the context in which communication
takes place and identify all the elements which contribute
to successful communication. There are many things that
can get in the way of successful communications but I am
here discussing about seven golden rules used for business
communication
From seven I discuss only one rule in the seven golden
rules i.e. Clarity. Clarity is the most important C in the
Seven Cs because if there is no clarity in your message no
one understand the message you want to convey and if
reader or listener cannot understand your massage than
use of other Cs in your message become worthless.
For example, if your message is Concise, Concrete,
Correct, Coherent, Complete and Courteous but not clear
then listener or reader cant able to understand the
message you want to convey.
According to me, in the business communication

Clarity is the first step of the 7 stairs

WHAT IS MEANT BY
COMMUNICATION
Communication is the activity of conveying information through the exchange of
ideas, feelings, intentions, attitudes, expectations, perceptions or commands, as
by speech, non-verbal gestures, writings, behavior, etc.

HOW TO BE A GOOD
COMMUNICATOR
For any communication in business, in order to be effective, it must have seven
qualities. These seven attributes are called seven Cs of effective business
communication

What is effective communication?

Effective communication is that type of communication in which sender
used proper word its mean Clear, Accurate and meaningful to receiver that can
be easily to understand.

Components of Effective Communication

The Seven Cs of Effective

Business Communication
The message is said to be effective when the receiver understands the same
meaning that the sender was intended to convey. For any communication in
business, in order to be effective, it must have seven qualities. These seven

In this assignment I am going to discuss about clarity.

Clarity
Clarity demands the use of simple language and easy sentence structure in
composing the message. When there is clarity in presenting ideas, its easy for
the receiver/decoder to grasp the meaning being conveyed by the
sender/encoder.

BENEFITS OF CLARITY
Clarity makes comprehension easier
Complete clarity of thoughts and ideas enhances the meaning of
message
Clear message makes use of exact, appropriate and concrete words

Clarity comprises of the following points:

a. Selection of precise, concrete and clear words

Clarity is achieved in part through a balance between precise words and familiar
words. Defining the above sentence, example, although it is appropriate to use
technical terms and business jargon's in professional institutions but they need to
be avoided when communicating with a person who is not acquainted with the
terminology.

Example:

Un Familiar

Assessed valuation

Property value for tax purposes

Charge to your principal(banking)

Buyouts

People moving on over bridge

b. Constructing effective sentences and paragraphs

Here, important characteristics to consider are:

1) Length
2) Coherence and unity

Length:
Generally short sentences are preferred, the suggested average
sentence length should be about 17-20 words, because longer sentence
may cause lack of concentration in sentence.

c. Coherence and Unity

Coherence in sentences means the words should be correctly placed or

arranged so that ideas clearly reflect the intended meaning.
Emphasis: It refers to the quality that gives force to important parts of the
sentences and paragraphs. The writer must know when and where the
emphasis is required which helps in making the letter more clear along with
other C qualities.
Unity:

In a sentence whether it is simple, compound or complex the link i.e. the unity
matters which means to have one main idea traveling through the entire
conversation. Every sentence or word must be closely related to each other.

Difference between a weak and strong paragraph:

Weak Paragraph

Strong Paragraph

Limited investment in the housing

sector makes it practically impossible
to allocate sufficient resources for
urban dwellers' housing needs. A high
rate of urban population growth has
increased the country's needs for
housing. A small group of city officials
has laid out a new plan to combat the
crisis. A solution to the housingshortage problem is a vital policy
issue here. The housing problem has
grown in the last twenty years. [Each
sentence makes its own separate
point with no link to the sentences
before or after. The result is a group of
related yet separate ideas instead of
one coherent paragraph.]

Conclusion
When writing or speaking to someone, be clear about your goal or message.
What is your purpose in communicating with this person? If you're not sure, then
your audience won't be sure either. To be clear, try to minimize the number of
ideas in each sentence. Make sure that it's easy for your reader to understand
your meaning. People shouldn't have to "read between the lines" and make
assumptions on their own to understand what you're trying to say.
