important choice when assembling

your personal diving system. There are
many regulators on the market and the
selection may seem daunting. Apeks makes
the decision easier. As regulator specialists
we are dedicated to manufacturing regulators
that give reliable high performance in the most
demanding situations - perfect for professional and
tech divers and the only choice for serious recreational
divers. The performance of your regulator is of the utmost
importance, as this reflects the ease of breathing in all diving
conditions and increases the enjoyment and safety of your dive.
Our equipment has evolved through many years of research and
development. Independent tests prove their superiority, comfortably
exceeding the tough US Navy Group A test and the CEN European
Standard CE (the first regulators to achieve this mark of distinction). While our
performance figures are impressive, even more important are the comments we receive
from our customers. Divers choose our regulators because their friends, family, colleagues
and instructors, have wholeheartedly recommended Apeks. The most experienced divers from
all disciplines believe in us. We have achieved our original goal - to make the best diving
equipment in the world - and we continue to strive for excellence.

XTX REVERSIBLE REGULATOR FEATURES

The XTX range offers new features to advance Apeks tried and

lower cost maintenance and service. The first stage - the powerhouse of your
regulator - reduces the high pressure air stored in your cylinder to a controllable

intermediate pressure of 9-10 bar. The air then flows along the medium pressure
hose to the second stage (demand stage).
Apeks manufactures an extensive range of first stages to meet the needs of every
diver. All are of pressure adjustable depth compensated balanced diaphragm design
and supply air at exactly the right pressure. For example: as the diver descends the
demand for air increases. To maintain the supply, the intermediate pressure increases

in ratio to the water depth. In the Dry-Sealed System this is achieved by allowing
hydrostatic pressure, acting on the outer sealing diaphragm, to be transmitted to the
primary diaphragm via the load transmitter. Diaphragm first stages have a number of
advantages over piston type first stages, especially when combined with Apeks Dry
Sealed System*. They offer outstanding gas flow, easy maintenance and adjustment
of interstage pressure, and a sealed mechanism totally protected from all types of
contamination and freezing.
*Apeks invented the first successful dry environmentally sealed system

XTX Reversible Venturi System (RVS)

XTX Reversible Venturi System (RVS)

and all our regulators intended for cold water use, have this
system as standard.

XTX Reversible Venturi System (RVS)

Ambient pressure is greater than the pressure under the diaphragm, so the
diaphragm is pushed down onto the lever to assist with the breathing effort.
With the venturi lever in the minus position, the air-flow from the 2nd stage is
directed onto the diaphragm, closing the valve and preventing freeflow.
The Apeks Reversible Venturi System (RVS) allows the diver to control the venturi
assist with greater precision due to the indexable Venturi Lever*. Gas flow to the
diver can be directed towards the mouthpiece by indexing the venturi lever
towards the plus position. This allows the diver an assisted breathe resulting in a
more comfortable dive with less breathing effort. Due to its unique design the
venturi lever can be moved to either the left or right side of the regulator,
depending on the desired hose configuration.
The Indexable Venturi Lever can therefore act as a pre dive switch. Set in the
minus position, the second stage will not free flow either during the entry phase or
if the regulator is dropped in the water. When the diver begins to use the regulator,
the venturi lever can be indexed toward the plus position and the second stage
will give increased venturi assistance according to the set level dialled in.

* To qualify for the CE mark, regulators must be less than 3.0 J/L at 50 metres, RMV.: 62.5 (2.5L x 25 Breaths/min), and for US Navy Group A the regulators WOB needs to be less than 1.4 J/L at 60 metres.

Designed for water temperatures above 50F (10C).
The unit has a high visibility yellow front cover, yellow accent pieces and a
36 yellow hose.

Whether the spindle is set in the left or right-handed configuration, the

diaphragm is drawn down as the diver inhales (see Open Position diagram)
depressing the lever. The lever tilts and lifts the balanced valve and rubber
seating off the valve seat (orifice) allowing the air to flow through the valve
mechanism to the divers mouth. When the diver stops inhaling, the diaphragm
recovers and the spring pushes the poppet valve and rubber seating back onto
the seat, preventing further air flow.

Pneumatically Balanced
The Balanced Spindle Mechanism can be set by your local dealer in either the
left or the right-hand configuration, depending on your individual preference.
Combining existing technology with new ensures maximum performance and
versatility, whilst retaining our world renowned reliability. The poppet valve
allows air to pass through its centre to a counter-balance cylinder, which assists
the spring to close the valve eliminating the need for a heavier valve spring
reducing the breathing effort.

Cracking Resistance Control

The Cracking Resistance Control is used to adjust the spring load of the poppet
valve assembly and so vary the initial cracking resistance of the second stage.
The further the control is wound in the greater the cracking resistance. The
Cracking Resistance Control also incorporates an internal fine adjustment for
use by an Apeks Service Technician. This allows the second stage to be set to a
minimum breathing effort with a wide range of first stage medium pressures.

lower cost maintenance and service.
