Have you ever

wondered how LMES
compares to other
elementary schools
in South Carolina?
Recently the Niche
Reports released their
2015 best school rankings. Their Best Public
Elementary Schools
report ranks 40,403
elementary schools
based on key student
statistics and 4.6 million opinions from
280,000 students and
parents. A high ranking indicates that the
school is an excep-

tional academic institution with a diverse

set of high-achieving
students and faculty,
and the students are
very happy with their
experiences.
Lake Murray Elementary ranks 4th among
all public elementary
schools in South Carolina. Our students
showed a 93.0% Math
proficiency and a
95.0% Reading proficiency. District 5 had 6
of the top 10 elementary schools in South
Carolina.

Healthy Holidays
to you
Stay healthy this holiday
season by preventing the
spread of germs and prepare food safely. Remember these simple steps:
wash hands and surfaces
often, avoid crosscontamination, cook
foods to proper temperatures, and refrigerate
promptly.
Eat healthy, and get moving. Eat more fruits and
vegetables. Limit your
portion sizes and foods
high in fat and sugar. Be
active for at least 2

hours a week and help kids

and teens be active for at
least 1 hour a day. Maintain
a routine even when school
is out for the holidays.
Healthy eating habits and
cooking skills learned at
home can last a lifetime.
Cooking meals together is a
great time for teaching about
nutrition. Kids love the one
on one time and they like to
eat the foods they help to
make. Kids learn best by
example and the best way to
teach healthy eating habits is
for your child to see you
eating healthy too. Have a
Happy and Healthy Holiday!

the Speed Limit?
Recently we have had
speed limit signs posted in
our car line and bus loop.
The speed limit for all District 5 schools is 10 miles
per hour.
Our school is
under the jurisdiction of
the Richland
County Sheriffs department. If you
are caught speeding, you
can be fined.
As always, these rules are
implemented for the safety
of our children.

White Rock VFW members, Pat Martin (former
CHS teacher) and Melissa
Kimball (former LMES

Wendy Herring's kindergarten class in honor of
Veterans Day. Students
received H is for Honor: A Military Family
Alphabet by Devin Scillian and Don't Forget, God
Bless Our Troops by Jill
Biden. Mrs. Herring's
class can't wait to read
their books and share them
with other classes. Thank
