General description of the project

I. General description of the project

The goal of this project is to prepare a fully functional template for a document following
specific formatting and styling requirements. The aim is to so prepare the template that any
later modifications that might be required to the styling of the resulting document could be
made easily, without the necessity of reading through the whole document. The final result
should be this very document (which will be transmitted to you in a PDF format) recreated
by you, following as closely as possible the formatting applied here. For a perfect grade, the
printed version of your document should perfectly overlap with the printed version of the
sample (this) document.
The raw text of the document will be given to you in a plain text format, so you do not
have to waste any time typing and can focus on learning and improving your Word 2013
skills.

Styling and editing requirements

III. Styling and editing requirements

1. First (cover) page styling
The first page must have a style defined named FirstPage_Normal, which uses 14 pt
Calibri as its font, paragraph text is centered, with no indentation, line spacing at 1.5 lines,
no spacing before and 10 pt spacing after. This styling is used for the text present on the top
part of the document.
The title Applied Informatics should be in bold, 48 pt, Calibri, centered, and the text
Semester Project Specifications should be in plain, 18 pt, Calibri, centered. For these two
direct formatting can be used. All other text on the page should be formatted using the
above presented FirstPage_Normal style.

2. General document styling

The rest of the document (meaning everything excepting the first (cover) page), should
have a minimum of five styles defined, these being: Normal, Heading 1, Heading 2, Accent
and Caption. There is not prohibition regarding the use of other styles, however, the
existence of the five above styles is compulsory. All unused styles should be removed from
the Quick Styles Gallery! The description of each style can be seen in.

Please note: Where text follows a table, an empty line should be inserted, just like in this
example.
Direct formatting should be avoided throughout the document wherever possible.
However, table headings can be directly formatted to bold without defining a separate style.
Captions should be above tables and below images. Items in italics should be formatted
using the Accent style presented in Table 3. All references to tables and images should be
inserted using the Cross reference feature, and if changes are made in the document, they
should automatically update when updating all fields (Alt+F9).

3. Other editing requirements

Each chapter should start on a new page.
The whole document should be set as being written in English (U.S.) and should be spellchecked before submission.
On the last page of the document a Table of Contents should be generated.

Headers and footers

IV. Headers and footers

Headers should contain the title of the current chapter on each page, on the outer side of
the page.
Footers should contain the page number of the current page, also on its outside, i.e.: the
headers and footers should both be on the same side (on the outside) of the page. The cover
page is considered page number 1, however, it does not have numbering on it.
Headers and footers should automatically change if the appropriate command is used to
update them (except if Word 2013 bugs prevent automatic updates).
