Geotechnical Engineering
Structural Engineering
Water Resources Engineering

Environmental Engineering

First class Masters degree in Biotechnology /

Chemical Engineering / Environmental Engineering / Environmental Science / Remote Sensing
and GIS from a recognized University

Geotechnical Engineering

First class Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering

from a recognized University AND

Direct PhD

Academically exceptional candidates will

be considered for admission into Direct
PhD Program (PhD
after Bachelors)

First class Bachelors degree in Civil /Aerospace /

Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University AND

Requirements
A Bachelors degree
in Civil Engineering
with more than 75 %
marks (or, 7.5 CGPA)
Qualify in GATE
(Civil Engineering) in
the last two years
A qualification in
GATE is waived off
for IIT graduates

First class Masters degree in Structural (or, allied)

Engineering from a recognized University

PhD Options

First class Masters degree in Agricultural Engineering / Earth Sciences / Geophysics / Hydrology / Meteorology / Remote Sensing and GIS /

Rs. 18,000/- pm
Last 2 Years:
Rs. 20,000/- pm

specific to only ONE Area of interest (Specialization)

A Valid GATE / UGC-NET / CSIR-NET is essential for

availing MHRD fellowship

Minimum number of courses to be done varies between sciences / engineering background students

Applicants working in reputed R&D organizations /

Laboratories are eligible to apply. Such applicants:
a) Need to be deputed on leave by the parent organization / department during the residency period

With Bachelors Degree (NET qualified)

First 2 Years:
Rs. 16,000/- pm
Last 3 Years:
Rs. 18,000/- pm

b) Do not require valid GATE score

c) Will not be paid any financial assistantship by IITH

Results

Interview results will

be communicated to
the applicants by email

made available on Department webpage

Applicants are requested to check their

and Dept. website frequently for any updates

Reservation of seats will be made as per Government

of India rules

Selection process is purely based on merit

Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test
and /or interview on a specified date (travel expenses
will be paid as per Institute norms)
Date of written test / interview will be communicated
to the shortlisted candidates only by e-mail (and also,
