PROFFESIONAL EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION PROJECT:

Working with academic members of the project team in order to deliver project
outcomes. Responsible for writing up research paper and presenting research
findings to senior managers and also at academic meetings.
Research Project: In the period of Nov-2012 to Mar-2013
[Mr. Syed Yahoob Ali, M.Sc, M.Phil, Ph.D.,]
Title:
1. Green synthesis of silver nanoparticls from Ocimum sanctum against
malaria and dengue vectors.

Required that I work methodically with regards to health and safety

regulations and pay close attention to detail in order to achieve accurate results.
All of my work experiences have involved working within a team-based
culture. This involved planning, organization, coordination and commitment and
effective communication amongst all staff members.
SUMMARY OF PROJECT WORK:
To investigate the larvicidal activity of synthesized silver nanoparticles
(AgNPs) utilizing aqueous leaf extract of Ocimum sanctum was tested against
fourth instar larvae of Aedes aegypti and Anopheles stephensi.
The present study was carried out to establish the larvicidal activity of
synthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using leaf aqueous extract of Ocimum
sanctum against fourth instar larvae of dengue and malaria vector. The larval
mortality was observed after different time of exposures. Further,
characterisation such as XRD and SEM analysis were carried out for the
synthesised silver nano particles.
The mortality values were obtained using the probit analysis. The larvae of
Aedes aegypti and Anopheles stephensi were found to be highly susceptible for
the silver nanoparticles. The larvae have shown 100% mortality against the
silver nanoparticles, whereas fourth instar larvae have shown efficacy (LC50)
after 24 and 48hrs. The characterization studies of synthesized AgNPs by X-ray
diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), of silver nanoparticles
along with stability. The findings revealed that synthesized AgNPs possess
excellent mosquito larvicidal activity. These results suggest that the green
synthesis of AgNPs have the potential to be used as an ideal eco-friendly
approach for the control of head lice and vectors.

Research Project: In the period of Jul-2012 to Oct-2013

[Mr. N. Yogananth, M.Sc, M.Phil, Ph.D.,]
Title:
2. Evaluation of in-vitro anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties of
Pergularia daemia and Solanum xanthocarpum.

SUMMARY OF PROJECT WORK:

This work is of used on the evaluation of the anti-inflammatory and
antimicrobial activities of stem and leaf extracts of Pergularia daemia and
Solanum xanthocarpum. The prevention of hypotonicity induced HRBC
membrane lysis was taken as a measure of the anti-inflammatory activity.
The anti-inflammatory activity of the ethanol extracts of stem and leaves
were compared to that of the standard drug hydrocortisone. The percentage
protection of lysis for Standard hydrocortisone 0.08 mg/ml is 97.90.24%, the
maximum percentage protection of lysis was observed in ethanol extract of
Pergularia daemia stem 12.0 mg/ml is 78.580.33%. In vitro antimicrobial
activity of crude stem and leaf extracts of these 2 plants was tested by well
diffusion method against 4 bacteria and 4 fungi. Among the two plant extracts
tested, Solanum xanthocarpum showed more antibacterial activity against the
organisms compared to Pergularia daemia.
Therefore these herbal extracts could be used in future direction as
alternative therapeutic agents for the treatment of human diseases.
PUBLISHED PAPER:
1.
