PREFACE
As a part of Nift curriculum and in order to gain practical knowledge in the field of design, we are
required to make a report on industry orientation. The basic objective behind doing this project
report is to get knowledge how industry work, their manufacturing process.
In this project report I have included the manufacturing process of the company, product range
packaging and shipping , costing, promotion of the product etc.
Doing this project report helped us to enhance our knowledge regarding the work and the attitude
of worker toward work and how industry works and various concepts. Through this report I come to
know about importance of industrial design.

HISTORY
It is a small scale industry established in 2000 affiliated from Ministry of Textiles. It is certified from
ISO 9001:2008. It is a renowned organization known for manufacturing, wholesaling and exporting
handicrafts and home furnishing products. The range of products comprises bed cover, curtain,
cushion covers, dollies, fashion items, pouch, runner, table cover and tissue box cover.
Manufactured using high quality fabric, these are available in various styles, patterns and designs.
The organization has become synonymous with modernity and traditionalism by offering the latest
and the trendiest home furnishing, beaded items, handicrafts and others. State-of-the-art
infrastructure, international quality norms, timely deliveries and competitive prices are instrumental
in the creation of splendid assortment of handicrafts and home furnishing products. Top-notch
quality and unmatched designs of our products have created a huge demand worldwide.
They are able to sustain the trust of their clients as they keep a track record of 100% exports
across the world, especially in the Middle East and Europe. Further, their membership of the
prestigious synthetic and rayon textiles export promotion council (SRTEPC) that comes in ministry
of textiles has helped them in designing their range at par with industry standards.
Under the able guidance of Mr. Rafi Ahmed, they have carved a niche for themselves in the
international market. His in-depth knowledge of the industry has helped us in achieving due
recognition amongst their clients.

ADMINISTRATIVE
The managing director of the company is Mr. Rafi Ahmad. Under his supervision all the work are
managed, under him there is chief executive officer (Mr. Karan Chauhan) who has to assign the
duties and get it implemented and delegate the responsibility to manager (Mr. Munnaver Ali) who
are responsible to distribute the work. Under him there is a supervisor (Mr. Sushil Tiwary) who
check out over the goods under him there is two department the storekeeper (Miss Suman Lata)
& packaging incharge (Mr. Shyam Singh).the storekeeper has the responsibility to check out
products are manufactured are on time raw materials are there or not. The packaging incharge are
responsible for packaging units according to the demand and the need of customer.
There is a production manager who has to checks with the production department under this there
is purchase and sale department who has to check out the market.

PRODUCT RANGE
They have an exotic collection of handicrafts and home furnishing items. The products are bed
cover, curtain, cushion covers, dollies, fashion items, pouch, runner, table cover, table runner,
tissue box cover, carpets wall hangings, artificial ornament, brassware, fancy stole, shawl hand
bag, scarves, Christmas ornament, and handicraft. They use quality fabric in the fabrication of
home furnishing items, which is procured from reliable vendors. Moreover, they also customize
their product range to meet the requirements of their clients.

The curtain is made with net fabric and embroidery item and the curtain holder is made with wood ,
pearl beads , threads etc all the embroidered items.

FASHION ITEM

The fashion item are made with thread, embroidered item like beads , stone thread, sequin etc.

PRODUCTION, OUTSOURCING OF MATERIAL AND COSTING


The productions of product depend on the size and dimension of the product. Since the products
are handicraft item and embroidered so the time consume for making product depend on size and
dimension of the product.
The raw materials are sourced from Chandni Chowk, Kinari Bazaar, New Delhi. For the fabric they
source from Riddhi Intex Surat. For the aesthetic appeal the materials are basically used are
embroidered items like beads, threads, mirrors, stone, sequins, fabrics, etc.The other items
eyelets, wire metal sheet wood, hinges, buckles fabric etc.. For making items the consumables are
pencil, tracing wheel, thread cutter, scissor, needle butter paper, etc. The cost of final product
depends on what are the material used and the size of product. Some of the raw material costs are
as follow:

Different types of material used for embroidery

MANUFACTURING PROCESS
The manufacturing is done in this industry is basically labour intensive technique. Some labours
are permanent and some are daily wages and some are on contact basis. Some time if the order
are more than the work are outsourced from Bareilly, Moradabad, Rampur, Agra. Some products
are made from February to may and from may onward they export it for the purpose of Christmas
and new year.
The manufacturing process are divided into various categories designing, tracing, cutting, shaping
embroidering, stitching, finishing and quality controlling, fabrication, sticking etc. For making
different product has different manufacturing process.
The manufacturing processes of different product are as follow:

JEWLLERY BOX
Some boxes are made with corrugated sheet and for the aesthetic appeal they are using different
type of printed fabric and velvet, fabric. Then they are added with hinges and ribbon eyelets and
decorative buttons for making jewellery box the raw materials are aluminium sheet glue mirror,
corrugated sheet, glitters, velvet fabric, butter paper, printed fabric eyelets ,hinges etc. For making
jewellery box firstly the aluminium sheet gone into fabrication process then after what with the help
of embroidered item they are decorated. The time consume in making one product depend on the
dimension of the product

HAND BAGS, POUCHES AND ALLTHE EMBROIDERED ITEM


For making bags and pouches and embroidered item like dollies, table runner curtains cushion
cover firstly it is designed then it is traced on butter paper. Then with the help of tracing wheel the
design are traced out on fabric. After tracing the fabrics is cut then on fabric the embroidery is
done on it .after doing embroidery then the stitching takes place. For the handle of bag either they
purchase wooden handle or they stitched the handle of fabric. After stitching the product are
washed with whitener powder or blue powder or they are dye cleaned or they are washed with
ezee wash. After what they cut the extra thread and label their tag.

COASTERS
For making coasters the materials are used are different types of beads and wire .depending on
design different beads are used .for making coasters the beads are placed into wire and they are
closed it. Here also time depend on size and design of the product.

PHOTOFRAMES
For making photo frame the raw material required are mount board fabric embroidered item, glue
etc. The mount board is cut from outside and then the embroidery is done on the fabric. After what
sticking is done on the cardboard.

CURTAIN HOLDER
The curtain holder is also made from embroidered item. For some design the wood is required
depending on design, the wood is cut then it is sanded. After what it is drilled from outside and
then they fix the tassels on it.

PACKAGING AND SHIPPING


The packaging is done according to customer requirement like how many pieces they want and
how they want as a set like 2 pieces in 1 set or 3 pieces in 1 set then these are packed in poly bag
and then these are packed in cartoon and in cartoon how many pieces they it depend on customer
so according to that cartoons are made.
The shipping is also done through airways and seaways depending on customer budget how they
want to be shipped. The airways gets costly so few customer can afford it so mainly customer
asked by seaways for transportation purpose. The products are exported in United States, Golf,
Medley, South Arabia, Europe, and Asia. In US they supply to K & K Table Tops, Daniel Home
Decor, Text Depo, in Golf they supply to El-Khaliz Co., Usman-LLC, in South Arabia they supply to
Southe in Europe they to supply Export Import and in Asia they supply to Karaca Homes,
Tasbemir Textiles.

Packaging department

COSTING
Since the industry is wholesale industry the profit margin is very less its about 5 % to 15%.the
costing include raw materials cost , labour cost, finishing cost, consumables, indirect cost like
(electricity bill, phones, stationery transportation of raw material cost, machines cost, tools)
packaging and shipping cost, profit.

ADVERTISING AND PROMOTION

For increasing the sale the company advertise from indiamart.com, tradeindia.com, b2b
portal.com, and alibaba.com.

The company also participate in international trade show fair. They also participate in exhibition
like Noida Expo Mart and other exhibitions take place in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

SWOT ANALYSIS

CONCLUSION
This document is made to understand the manufacturing process of the company. I come to learn
how the industry works like what are the different operations involve in manufacturing product.
Starting from where they source the raw material, what are the different steps for making product
then comes to costing then packaging and shipping quality control etc.
