About EID14
The spread of Information and Communication Technologies
(ICTs) is continuing to facilitate technological change in the
globalizing economy. The rapid proliferation of mobile telephony
and worldwide broadband connectivity is strongly motivating the
introduction of new services and applications that expand the
scope of leveraging ICTs in various development areas
including environment, health, education, and governance.

Against this background, Elgazala Innovation Day 2014 (EID'14)

puts the spotlight on the role of innovation in the development of
services and applications relying on ICTs. EID'14 will feature a
new, greatly expanded program organized for industry
practitioners, scientists, and students in ICTs in Elgazala
Technopark and its broader supporting ecosystem. The
program is designed to provide opportunities for the attendees
to both share and learn about the latest ideas, trends, and
product innovations in ICTs. The prospective program of EID'14
includes an Innovation Exhibition where the participants from
the ecosystem of the Technopark will present their flagship
innovation projects and an Innovation Workshop where the
strategic view of the Technopark in the area of innovation will be
shared with the partners and the involved parties.

Themed Towards a Better Cooperation Between University and Industry, Elgazala Innovation Day 2014 (EID14)
entails the delivery and presentation of 6 invited speeches addressing innovation strategies, practices, and experiences.
Additionally, an exposition will be held in conjunction with EID14 to depict a faithful figure of the innovation landscape in
Technopark Elgazala. The program of the event is most inclusive for industry professionals, academics, researchers,
and government officials.
EID14 seeks to build on the experience on the various actors the Technoparks ecosystem by highlighting the newest
developments, achievements, and prospective results. The agenda has been built with oral and showcase participations
that not only foresee the evolution of the market in the near future, but also explore the methodologies that will motivate
collaborative and goal-oriented innovation projects in Elgazala Technopark. The attendees will have the opportunity to
network and share experience with professionals, researchers, and practitioners serving nearly every communications
area.
EID14 is an important step in a global process that will be conducted by Elgazala Technopark to boost the development
of new ideas, products, and services. This process will involve different parties that contribute to building innovation,
these are namely: international organizations, SMEs, students, and researchers.
As the General Manager of Elgazala Technopark, I wish to thank the organizing committee, the speakers and the
participants, and the other volunteers who have worked tirelessly preparing the event. I look forward to sustain the event
and extend it to the international level starting from next year.

Message from EID14 General Chair

How should organizations innovate to respond to emerging market issues? This unanswered question is the focus of a
rich debate about innovation strategies, opportunities, and challenges. Joint efforts involving researchers, decisionmakers, students, scientists, and politicians are being made at the national and international scales to elucidate on the
process by which innovative business models are implemented. Based on its constituency, Elgazala Technopark has an
enormous potential to emerge as a regional source of innovative products and services. This is mainly due to the
diversity of actors hosted at the technopark. However, to exploit this rich potential, governance models, funding
mechanisms, and project management policies must be designed and enforced. This is to promote building partnerships
relying on knowledge sharing and exchange of experience.
On these foundations, Elgazala innovation Day has been established as a forum for presenting new products,
prototypes, research results as well as best professional practice to improve the ICT-based services. Such balance
between future technology improvements and day-to-day management will contribute to better understanding between
solution providers, researchers, students, and practitioners, making this forum lively and successful.
The event encompasses a workshop where strategies, models, and practices regarding innovation will be presented, as
well as an expo where the participants will have the opportunity to exhibit their innovative products, ideas, and services.
EID14 will also be an occasion to present the new strategy of Elgazala Technopark regarding innovation. This strategy
articulates around strengthening innovation centers, encouraging joint R&D projects, and motivating student
entrepreneurship initiatives.
Organizing the workshop and the expo would not have been possible without the tremendous volunteer efforts of the
entire organization committee. I am most grateful to the participants who submitted their projects to EID14, the staff of
Elgazala Technopark who have diligently supported the organization of the event, volunteers from ACEPT, ADSUP and
ADRI who have worked hard to organize this event, and everyone to put together this remarkable program for their time,
commitment, dedication, and effort.
On behalf of the entire committee, I welcome you to EID14 at Elgazala Technopark.
