Introduction
University Open Days play an important part in helping to
determine which university is right for you. That's why today's
activities are all geared towards informing you about the
opportunities available to you at Glamorgan.

Today, you will see presentations and have the opportunity to

participate in tours and other exciting activities, such as a
Computer Games workshop, Business Simulation and a Crime
Scene Investigation. I am confident that our state-of-the-art
teaching facilities, safe, secure campus and friendly teaching
staff will impress you.

We are currently investing a great deal of money – over £55m – to improve our
campus and the quality of the student experience. As part of this work, we have
opened a new state-of-the-art campus in Cardiff city centre. ATRiuM is the home of
the Cardiff School of Creative & Cultural Industries, offering courses in media, design
and the arts.

An area which affects all students is of course, student funding. We will therefore
explain the current situation and outline an attractive range of non-means tested
scholarships, which will ensure that Glamorgan students have a first-class learning
experience, as well as receiving generous financial backing to support them.

I am also delighted to be able to tell you that the University has been short-listed for
the prestigious title of ‘University of the Year’ in this year’s Times Higher Awards.

I hope you enjoy discovering the many great things that Glamorgan has to offer.
Enjoy your visit!

Professor David Halton, Vice-Chancellor

How to get the most out of your day

Top five tips
1. Study this programme! – It gives you an overview of everything.
2. Check out the Course Index and look up the relevant subject heading for your
course. Then use the planner to find out where and when your Course Talk is
taking place. Most subject-specific sessions are offered at a limited number of
times during the day and attending this is a priority.
3. Read through the section of the planner entitled, ‘Plan your Day’ and fit in the
general talks on Student Finance, Accommodation, UCAS and Applying to
Glamorgan around your Course Talk.
4. Visit the exhibition being held in the Glamorgan Business Centre.
5. Go on a tour of the local area, sports facilities, accommodation or the campus, to
sample what Glamorgan has to offer.
What’s happening on the day?

In addition to the subject-specific sessions, we will also be running the following
programme of talks:
• Welcome to the University of Glamorgan
An introduction to the University with an overview of the facilities, achievements
and developments taking place here at Glamorgan.
• Student Money
Money is a big worry for many students. This talk will detail the financial support
potentially available to English and Welsh students, including student loans and
grants. The University of Glamorgan scholarship package will also be explained -
find out how studying at Glamorgan could save you over £10,000.
• Accommodation
Find out all you need to know about living in Halls of Residence or in private
accommodation and how to apply for a place.
• Student Life -- Beans, Books and Beer
Who better to tell you about life at Glamorgan than our students? Find out the real
