I have always been fascinated by mathematics mainly because it involved more of

understanding and less of memorizing stuff and in a way statistics is an applied part of
mathematics. Even though I do admit the fact that my introduction to statistics has been
purely accidental, I m amazed by the subject. It has always intrigued me as how statistics
prove things so easily and how to prove an experiment right or wrong the subject is used.
Experiments on such a large scale are undertaken and yet their validity can only be proved
with the use of hypothesis. Statistics is an extremely interesting and useful field; in fact, any
decision we make is based on likelihood which we loosely derive from understanding of the
world.
It is this and much more which has inspired me to take up statistics first at the graduate level
and then at postgraduate level. To make myself familiar with the subject and its applications, I
had always taken part in almost each and every quiz competition and seminars related to
statistics in college and had also organized a statistical event.
After I complete my postgraduate studies I wish to become a statistical consultant and start
my own venture. I wish to get into LSE because this school would give me a wide platform
and broaden my mind and a career boost. The Grad Stat award from Royal Statistical Society
would definitely be an added advantage.
