Hark! The herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King;
Peace on earth and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled!
Joyful, all ye nations rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With thangelic host proclaim
Christ is born in Bethlehem!
Hark! The herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King!
Christ, by highest Heavn adored;
Christ the everlasting Lord;
Late in time, behold Him come,
Ospring of a virgins womb.
Veiled in flesh the Godhead see;
Hail the incarnate Deity,
Pleased as man with men to dwell,
Jesus, our Emmanuel.
Hark! The herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King!
Hail the heavn-born Prince of Peace!
Hail the Son of Righteousness!
Light and life to all He brings,
Risn with healing in His wings.
Mild He lays His glory by,
Born that man no more may die.
Born to raise the sons of earth,
Born to give them second birth.
Hark! The herald angels sing
Glory to the newborn King!

Advent Reading
Gods Promise: The Greatest Proof of All
Last week we lit the first advent candle. We
were reminded of the message of hope to a struggling nation, the hope of Jesus our Savior. This week we light the second advent candle, and see Gods promise, the greatest proof of all.
Isaiah 7:10-14
Again the Lord spoke to Ahaz, Ask a sign of the
Lord your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven. But Ahaz said, I will not ask, and I will not put the Lord to the test.And he said, Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also? Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
God sent the prophet Isaiah to Ahaz to calm his
fears of attack and he told Ahaz not to worry; God would protect him. Ahaz was afraid to ask God for a sign, but God wanted to give him a sign. So God spoke through Isaiah and gave Ahaz the greatest sign that has ever been given.
Ahaz had no idea what the sign meant, but
today we know that the virgin Isaiah spoke of was Mary and her Son was Jesus, Immanuel, God with us. God was giving the greatest sign, that He was who he said he was. Jesus proved that he was God when after dying on the cross, he rose again from the dead, just as he said.
As we rejoice in the fulfilled promised of God;
we wait with assured hope for the promises of God to be completed, and for Christ to come again.
