1. Access & Urgent Response (AUR): All referrals for adults (19 yrs +) to Squamish Mental Health &
Addiction Services must be directed to AUR services Phone Line 604-815-3008. AUR provides
access to all services at Squamish Mental Health & Addiction, as well as, consultation and referral to
other community services, and addiction treatment centers. Services available Monday to Friday, 8:30
am 4:30 pm. Confidential needle exchange services.

Vocational Rehabilitation Services: Vocational services for individuals who require support with job
search, career exploration, skill enhancement, supported work placement, and volunteer work.
Therapeutic Volunteer Program (TVP): short term supported volunteer program that helps clients
achieve a greater degree of independence, community integration and confidence.
Outreach: Services for individuals with functional impairments who require support in the community
to work on therapeutic goals related to their recovery.
Peer Support: Individuals with lived experience of mental health issues supporting and helping clients
meet their individual goals.
Youth Addictions: Counseling for youth that require short-term addiction therapy. Referrals via local
high schools.

Womens Services: Breastfeeding support, parent and infant drop-in groups, new mother and baby
care, postpartum depression and anxiety, and pregnancy support.
Infants Services: Breastfeeding support, nutrition, disabilities, parent and infant drop-in groups, new
mother and baby care, dental health, immunization, speech and language, and audiology programs.
Childrens Services: Disabilities, nutrition, dental health, school health, eating disorders, speech and
language, immunization, vision, mental health, and audiology.

Seniors Services: Assisted Living: subsidized assisted living service including accommodation,
hospitality services and personal care services. Fall Prevention Clinic: specializes in fall and fracture
prevention. Home & Community Care: provides a range of health care and support services to people
who have acute, chronic, palliative or rehabilitative health care needs. Residential Care: provides
publicly subsidized residential care to people who have complex care needs, can no longer remain
safely in their own home, and require 24 hour nursing care in a supervised and secure environment.
Long-Term Care: provided through residential care services.
Aboriginal/First Nations Services: Works with Aboriginal communities to address health issues in a
way that incorporates their input, cultural beliefs and identifies barriers and successful strategies.
LGBT2SQ: Alcohol and drug prevention for LBGT2SQ youth: an alcohol and drug prevention
initiative for LGBT2SQ youth ages 15-24. Transgender Health Program: a resource hub that
provides information to anyone in BC with a transgender health question.
Population Health: Food Security, Built Environment, Community Health Profiles, Health Inequities,
Partnerships, and Contact Population Health programs.
Community Projects: The SMART Fund supports more than 80 agencies that help people stay healthy
in their communities.
Sea to Sky Healthy Heart Program: Location: Club Flex 12 Week Program (Thursdays) $80Appropriate for clients with lung and heart issues (cardiovascular), diabetes, high cholesterol, high
blood pressure, and COPD. Program needs a doctor referral.

Addiction & Recovery Residential Resources:

Sea to Sky Support Recovery House: a six bed, 90 day residential facility for adults over the age of 19
who identify as being in recovery from an addiction to alcohol or other drugs.
Chopra Addiction and Wellness Centre: 6 Weeks Program, 4 Weeks Program, Two Week Mind-BodySpirit Integration, Healthy Weight Program, Wellness Week & Custom Corporate Programs

Family peer support: Peer-led one-on-one support and crisis counselling for family members dealing
with a close relatives serious mental illness
Squamish monthly support group: Peer-led group for family members, providing a safe space for
sharing of experiences, practical tips, and advice
Squamish Family-to-Family education course: Comprehensive 12-week course covering all aspects of
mental illness, including symptoms, medications, problem-solving, communication, and crisis
management.
Partnership education program: First-person presentations by a family member and person with an
illness to schools, workplaces, professionals, service clubs, and those who work with the public, to
break down barriers and fear, and encourage those who see someone falling ill to act quickly
Public Education Lecture Series: A forum for commentary on crucial issues touch on the treatment and
recovery of those with mental illness; speakers discuss the latest research, medications, innovations in
diagnosis and treatment, what families need to know, and more
Information and service referral: Current information on financial matters, including RDSP, wills and
estate planning, and tax credits; referral to community and government services including housing,
skills development, and supported employment
Support with legal issues: Information, support, and referral to legal services for families whose ill
relatives are dealing with the justice system
Advocacy: Promotes information sharing and inclusion of families as members of the treatment team,
and advocates for early intervention and a proactive approach to treatment

Pearls Place Transition House: 24/7 Staffed house providing support for women (and their children)
who are experiencing conflict/abuse in their lives and are unsafe. Women can stay up to 30 days.
Pearls Safe Home: This house is meant to address the short term needs of women and children in the
northern Sea to Sky area who are experiencing conflict/abuse in their lives and are unsafe. Women
can stay up to 10 days
Squamish Drop In Centre: The Drop-In Centre program provides a place for resource, referral,
support and safety for women and children. Free Legal Clinic: Free hour consultation with a
lawyer at the Howe Sound Womens Centre.
Multi-cultural Outreach Program: MOS provides services and support to women- this includes
immigrant women, refugee women, women of color and aboriginal women.
Pearls Value and Vintage: Thrift store operated with the help of volunteers; with all proceeds going
towards the Howe Sound Womens Centres programming.

Children, Youth and Family Programs: Information, referrals, and support by telephone or on a dropin-basis. Childrens Programs: For children and adolescents who have experienced serious family
conflicts. S.A.F.F.E Project: Sea to Sky Adolescents Freedom from Exploitation Project.
First Nations Womens Safety Network: FNWSN Program provides services and support to women
who are experiencing violence in their intimate relationships with a focus on the lived realities of the
women of the NQuatqua, Mount Currie, Squmaish, Skatin, Douglas and Samahquam Nations.
Grassroots Programs: Yoga: Drop in yoga is held on Thursday mornings from 9:15 am to 10:15 am at
the Yoga Studio. Meditation: Meditation is held on Wednesday mornings from 9:15 am to 10:15 am at
the Yoga Studio.
Squamish Women Connecting: Bi-monthly networking group. Random dates. Bi-monthly speaker
series. Focus is on career planning, financial planning, family health and wellness. Next event:
Thursday, Dec 5th at the Adventure Centre: TED X: 4:30 PM until 6 PM: live stream from San
Francisco. 6:30 PM onwards: Feature 3 local women. Topic: Celebration of Invention.

Child & Family Services
Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) services are offered to infants, children and youth up to
18 years of age who are experiencing mental health challenges. Services are free, confidential
and voluntary. CYMH services use a team approach, which includes some combination of
masters level clinicians, social workers and psychologists who provide a variety of services
and specialized programs.
Services offered include: intake, assessment, treatment, clinical case management and
consultation. These are available based on need, current demand, and best fit for the individual
and family. The assignment of services is determined by the CYMH intake clinician or team in
consultation with the client or family. Many of our local teams can provide children and youth
direct access to psychological and psychiatric services. In addition, we can advocate for
families with the schools, physicians and other service providers who may require more
understanding of you and your childs concerns.

Free suicide prevention mini-workshops: customized 30 minute and 60 minute sessions for
organizations, schools, groups and workplaces. Presentations help community members better
understand facts about suicide; warning signs to look for; and how to get help if they are concerned
about someone.

The Seniors Centre is open to any member of the public and persons with a seniors membership 55+. The

Re-Fit Active Aging Circuit (8 week set- 16 classes) $104: This exercise program is designed for
adults who are living at home or in an assisted living environment who, due to illness/aging/lifestyle,
are having difficulty with their mobility.
Exercise for Brain & Neuro Health (12 week set- 24 classes) $156: This exercise program is designed
for individuals of all ages who are affected by neurological based mobility disorders: acquired brain
injury, MS, Parkinsons disease, cerebrovascular accident (stroke), spinal cord injury etc. and want to
stay active and healthy. It focuses on optimizing: Cardiovascular health, agility & balance, strength &
movement, and postural flexibility.
Financial Access Fund Program: This program is intended to reach out to those families and
individuals on low income and provide assistance when needed and requested. Provides a $100
credit/3 months to be used towards programming.

Seniors Housing:
Shannon Falls Residence: An independent and assisted living retirement residence with some
subsidized housing for qualified individuals. Support available with personal care and medication.
Squamish Senior Citizens Housing Society: Manor: Subsidized housing for 55 +. The Cedars: Low
cost, unsubsidized housing.
Hilltop House: A residential care facility for residents who can not manage daily living independently.

ESP - Emergency Shelter Program: A low barrier / high tolerance environment, 24/7 emergency
shelter, 30 day/15 bed mat program, with 3 healthy meals/day.
EWP - Extreme Weather Program: A low barrier overnight cold weather shelter. Operates from
November to March/April depending on Weather - temperature, rain and wind activity.
HIP - Home InStead Program: A home environment for people who are transitioning from living on
the street or in shelters to independent living partnership with VCH for MH&S support; 18 to 24
months working through Individual Service Plan toward building skills and capacity for
independence.

community donated by grocery stores, cafes and restaurants.

Job Club: Meet once a week with other people looking for work. Feedback provided from Karen
(Employment Program Facilitator). Conduct job searches, resume work, mock interview skills,
information interviews over the phone, and labor market research.
The Opportunities Fund Program (BC Centre for Ability): A program to assist persons with
disabilities to obtain employment by providing: Funding for training, wage subsidies to employers,
and funding for adaptive equipment on the job or while in training.
Skills Connect for Immigrants Program: This program is for permanent residents and refugees.
Encore Program: This is a 10 week employment program that can help you update your skills and put
your experience to work. Eligibility: 50 + age.

Programs to connect youth to employment. Eligibility: 15-30 years of age. Not in receipt of EI. Referrals
through Training Innovations.

Youth Skills at Work: supports youth who face barriers in gaining experience and enhancing their
employability. Participants spend four weeks attending workshops focusing on skill development
followed by a 12 week work placement.
Youth Job Match: helps youth gain experience, build skills, develop confidence and overcome
barriers to employment. Participants work full time in high demand occupations for a minimum of 12
weeks.
High Demand Youth Internship Program: Provides motivated post-secondary graduates with careerrelated work experience in various high demand sectors.
