Course Objectives: Students are expected to increase their knowledge of second language
acquisition and language teaching, become familiar with a variety of second language
teaching approaches, methods and techniques, make explicit their own set of language
teaching principles and apply those principles in decisions regarding instructional materials
and strategies.

A = 90-100
B = 80-89
C = 70-79
F = 0-69

Attendance and Assignments: Class will be interactive and therefore an emphasis will be
placed on attendance and participation. Readings on syllabus should be completed before
class and students should be prepared to engage in discussion of material. Additional
readings will be given via Web CT and/or handouts. If you miss the midterm exam, make-
ups will be given only upon furnishing a written medical excuse. Late term papers and
presentations will lose10 points for each day they are late.
Academic Dishonesty will not be tolerated. Any cases of cheating or plagiarism will be
subject to university disciplinary proceedings.
