From the Desk of Fr. Underwood:

This time of year we give thanks to God for His many
gifts and we prepare for the greatest giftthe birth of
Jesus Christ our Savior. It has been a tradition here at
St. Lawrence to share some of the parish needs so
parishioners can thank God and celebrate the birth of
our Savior through a gift to the parish. This list will
be posted in the bulletin for several weeks. If you
would like to make a gift to the parish, please select
an item (or items) on the list, place the money (or
check) in an envelope marked WISH LIST 2014
with your name on it as well as the gift you have selected. The envelope can
be given to me, Fr. Duquaine, the Parish Office, or placed in the collection.
Thank you in advance for sharing your many gifts with your parish!

this is a good time to talk with your child about
selecting one or several toys to pass on to other
children. It's consistent with the "one in - one out"
principle for keeping a simple home. It doesn't
have to be a favorite toy, but it should be something
they think will bring joy to another.

THE FAMILY THAT WORKS, PRAYS AND PLAYS TOGETHER

How can you make the Season of Advent more

meaningful? Here are some ideas to help you get
started.
Blue Books for Advent Devotions are available at the
doors of the church for Parishioners. These books are a
great way to reflect on Scripture. Note the schedule of
important Advent events on the front cover.
Advent Evening Prayer along with Adoration and
Confession will be Tuesday evenings Dec. 9, 16 &
23 at 6:15 in the church.
Parish Reconciliation Service is December 15th at
7:00pm in the Church.

Service/Outreach Opportunities:
Jubilee ChristmasDecember 13, 2014. Help is
still needed for this special event which provides
Christmas for needy families who would
otherwise go without. More information is
available in this bulletin.
Advent Outreach Collection will be taken up two
Sundays during Advent. Monies are divided
among different Charities, such as Habitat for
Humanity, St. Pauls in McKee Kentucky, etc.
Fr. Underwood and the Parish Council will
determine who receives the donations.
Advent Reflections with Fr. Robert Barron:
Sign up to receive FREE daily reflections throughout
Advent with Fr. Robert Barron. Each day,
from November 30 until Christmas Eve (December
24), he will email you a short reflection on an
Advent theme, in either English or Spanish (your
choice!). In addition, you will receive exclusive

codes for new products, and several giveaways throughout Advent including DVDs, CDs, signed

The Tippecanoe County Right to Life is

once again preparing to honor the lives of
those who have been lost due to legalized
abortion. They will be running their annual
signature ad in the Journal & Courier the
weekend closest to the anniversary of the
January 22, 1973, Roe vs. Wade ruling that
legalized abortion in all states and
throughout all stages of pregnancy.
Parishioners will be at the doors of the
Church following the Masses the weekends
of Dec. 27/28 and Jan. 3/4 to collect names.
In order to defray the costs, a $5.00
donation per line is requested.
Thank you for supporting life!
Jubilee Christmas
Saturday, December 13
9:00am to 1:00pm
Thank you to everyone who took an
ornament off the tree. Please bring the
unwrapped gift, with the ornament
attached, back to Church or the Parish Office by
Monday, December 8th. The ornament helps us match
up the gift to the correct child.
There is still a need for volunteers for the day of the
Jubilee. It is Saturday, December 13th from about 9:00a.m.
to 1:00p.m. If you can help, please call Mary Jo Nelson at
404-4274 or email: 1maryjonelson@comcast.net. Also, it is
not too late to give a donation of cash to help pay for
the food that is given to each family. For those who
didn't wish to take an ornament and shop, this gives
you another opportunity to help. You may put your
contribution in an envelope and mark it "Jubilee
Christmas". Just drop it in the collection basket or in the
parish office door mail slot. God will bless you for your
generous gifts to help those less fortunate.

THE SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT, DECEMBER 7, 2014

IN THE AREA
Solemn Evening Prayer
Our seminarians know that they have a lot of support in
their journey of priestly discernment and preparation, but
I need your help to show them your actual faces and
hearts in person! Will you help me? On Tuesday,
December 30th from 7:00-7:30pm in Lafayette at the
Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception you can join
Bishop Doherty, the seminarians and me for the
celebration of Solemn Evening Prayer.
As part of this celebration, Bishop Doherty will formally
institute James Baxter, Cole Daily, John Nguyen and
Coady Owens in the Ministry of Acolyte, as well as
Christian DeCarlo and Jonathan Matthes in the Ministry
of Lector. As they experience these ministries they
continue to approach the full ministry of the priesthood
by proclaiming God's Sacred Word and assisting in more
formal ways at the altar in various celebrations of the
Eucharist. This Institution is a simple Rite, but it brings
them ever closer to being fully conformed to Jesus the
Head, Shepherd and Spouse of the Body of Christ!
Will you help me show them your support by joining us
in prayer at 7:00pm on December 30th at the Cathedral?
I am thankful for your many ways of supporting our local
culture of vocations! I also pray that you experience a
renewal of Grace during the coming season of Advent!
