EXT. PATHWAY,ROAD - EARLY AFTERNOON

REPORTER
When you can heat up a meal in
under a minute, why waste your time
and money cooking a propa slap up
meal?
Our story will begin with a MONTAGE, showing STUDENTS eating
INSTANT and TAKEAWAY food. It will also be INTRODUCED with
our REPORTER, DAVE, saying that it is possible to have
QUALITY and AFFORDABLE meals instead of TAKEAWAYS. We see
DAVE walk along the PATHWAY, where POP UPS of the FOOD
MONTAGE are seen SURROUNDING DAVE.

Final Draft 8 Demo

REPORTER (CONTD)
Its been proven that a tenth of us
students dont make any of our own
food, and 29% of us miss dinner at
least once a week?

As he continues to walk down the STREET, we see the

STATISTICS from what the REPORTER says also POP UP,
SURROUNDING him.
2

INT. STUDENT KITCHEN, HOUSE

REPORTER
We all know that instant meals are
easy and affordable, but what if
there was a way you can have a
decent meal for a student price
everyday of the week? Im here to
help you make meals your mum would
be proud of! Heres me earlier
getting the ingredients.

Final Draft 8 Demo

We now see DAVE in a STUDENT KITCHEN, wearing a black CHEFS

JACKET, black TROUSERS, a black PINNY, and a white CHEF HAT.
He is SURROUNDED by ICONIC kitchen EQUIPMENT, such as
SAUCEPANS, CHOPPING BOARDS, KNIVES, and so on.
3

EXT. OUTSIDE ALDI ENTRANCE, SUPERMARKET - EARLY AFTERNOON

Final Draft 8 Demo

REPORTER
Im here outside Aldi, one of the
most affordable supermarket with
great value. Of course being a
student Im on a tight budget, so
with just 5 per day, lets see
what we can get!

We see DAVE outside the entrance of the supermarket ALDI,

until we see him walk inside the SUPERMARKET.

2.
4

INT. INSIDE ALDI, SUPERMARKET - EARLY AFTERNOON

Once he enters the SUPERMARKET, we see him BUYING the

INGREDIENTS needed to cook the meals we will be shortly
showing in our REPORT. As we JUMP from one INGREDIENT to
another, DAVE will be REPORTING on some INGREDIENTS which are
on SALE and worth the best for your money. As well as this,
we see GRAPHICS showing the TOTAL AMOUNT of MONEY DAVE has
spent, as well as how much he has left of his BUDGET.

REPORTER
x bags for only 25! Not bad
going, now lets get back and see
whats on the menu.

After DAVE finishes his SHOPPING, he COMMENTS on how he got

as many SHOPPING BAGS and FOOD for a CHEAP price. We then see
him WALK out of SHOT as we now are going back to his HOUSE to
cook the MEALS. We once again see GRAPHICS showing how much
he SPENT, as well as the REMAINING amount and how much it
COSTS per STUDENT.
6

INT. STUDENT KITCHEN, HOUSE - AFTERNOON

REPORTER
As you can see, weve got your
basics like pasta, eggs, sauces,
chicken, onions, tomatoes, bacon,
and so on. So what will we be
making?

Final Draft 8 Demo

We now return back to DAVES HOUSE, where all of the
INGREDIENTS are spread out on a TABLE. We see GRAPHICS
showing some of the INGREDIENTs names, as well as how much
they each COST.
REPORTER (CONTD)
So Ive done a little research and
came across a meal which is your
closest bet to a takeaway kebab.
Its called a Kofta burger, a lamb
based kebab with a little spiced
kick, served in a pitta bread with
onion and tomatoes. Why bother
getting a taekaway when it takes
around 20 minutes to cook, and 20
minutes to prepare?

Final Draft 8 Demo

We see DAVE with our first MEAL - the KOFTA BURGER. He talks
about what it is exactly, whilst we see GRAPHICS showing the
INGREDIENTS needed for the MEAL, as well as how long it takes
to COOK and PREPARE.

3.
REPORTER (CONTD)
All you have to do is to grab your
mince, onion, garlic, chili sauce
and taram maslaa and mix it all
together, forming it into around 8
burgers.
Here we see DAVE PREPARING to make the BURGERS, showing him
MIX the INGREDIENTS together and FORMING the RESULT into the
BURGERS. GRAPHICS also appear on the screen around DAVE
showing the STEPS on how to PREPARE and COOK the BURGERS.
REPORTER (CONTD)
Once youve prepared them, simply
grill for around 5 minutes then
voila, serve on a platter to share
and help yourself to pitta bread,
tomatoes and red onions.

Final Draft 8 Demo

We now see the FINISHED RESULTS. DAVE places the BURGERS onto
a SERVING PLATE as well as a PLATE with the DICED TOMATOES,
ONIONS and then the PITA BREAD. We see a STUDENT help HIMSELF
to the PRODUCT.
REPORTER (CONTD)
And there you have it, you can cook
all of this for 11.19, which is
just 2.79 each for 4 of you! This
doesnt even include all the
leftovers which you get, and if
youre not cooking all of the meat,
you can freeze it for another day.

Final Draft 8 Demo

Returning back to DAVE, we see him have a bite of the KOFTA
BURGER. GRAPHICS then appear next to DAVE, showing us how
much it COSTS in TOTAL and how much it is EACH. We also see
the LEFTOVER INGREDIENTS.
REPORTER (CONTD)
Now for your vegeterian option, we
have a Florentine pizza. But
instead of buying a ready made
pizza base, Im gonna show you how
to make it yourself.

Final Draft 8 Demo

Moving on, we now see DAVE in the KITCHEN again, however now
with the second MEAL - a FLORENTINE PIZZA. We see him holding
a SLICE of the PIZZA, as well as GRAPHICS showing the
INGREDIENTS needed for the meal. We also see how long it take
to PREPARE and COOK the MEAL.
REPORTER (CONTD)
So first of all you need to make
your pizza base. You can make the
base depending on how hungry you
are, but not too big otherwise it
wont fit in your oven!

4.
REPORTER (CONTD)
Once youve rolled your base,
microwave the spinach for 2
minutes. Then scatter the spinach
and mushrooms across the pizza
base, sprinkling Parmesan on top.
Once baked for 10 minutes, make a
whole in the spinach for the eggs,
then cook until the eggs are how
you like them.
We now see DAVE go through the steps needed to make the
PIZZA, which will also come up as GRAPHICS next to him whilst
he COOKS. This includes showing him make the PIZZA BASE,
ADDING the INGREDIENTS to the PIZZA BASE, then making room
for the EGGS, as well as SHOWING him put it in and out of the
OVEN.

Final Draft 8 Demo

REPORTER (CONTD)
There we go, nice and healthy! And
this is only 8.31 In total, or
2.08 each!

We see the FINISHED PRODUCT once again, as well as DAVE have

a bite of the PIZZA. GRAPHICS appear showing the TOTAL amount
the PIZZA costs, as well as how much it COSTS EACH.
REPORTER (CONTD)
Now this is one of my personal
favorites, something a little more
creative. Its a beer can chicken,
served with potato wedges and a
runner bean salad. Something
perfect for gatherings, and if you
dont eat all the chicken, you can
save it for another day.

Final Draft 8 Demo

Now we see the FINAL MEAL on the NEWS REPORT. We see FOOTAGE
PANNING the CHICKEN, WEDGES and SALAD. Once again, the
GRAPHICS appear on SCREEN next to DAVE, as well a the COOKING
and PREPARING time.
REPORTER (CONTD)
Firstly well start off with the
chicken. Remove the neck and
giblets from the chicken and rinse
it inside and out. Then rub it with
oil, salt, pepper and your mixed
herbs. Now this is where you grab
your beer (it can be any, whatever
works for you), drink about half of
it then gently place the chicken on
top of the beer. Shove it in your
oven for an hour and 15 minutes
then let it cook, until the thigh
juice runs clear.

Final Draft 8 Demo

5.
We see the STEPS on how to COOK and PREPARE the CHICKEN,
where we SEE the STEPS as DAVE EXPLAINS them. This will once
again be shown through GRAPHICS.
REPORTER (CONTD)
Whilst you wait for this to cook,
you can prepare for your wedges and
salad. For the wedges, cut the
potatoes into wedge shape, then let
them boil for 5 minutes. Mix the
butter with the spice then add to
the wedges once youve drained
them. Allow them to cook for around
20 minutes.

Final Draft 8 Demo

GRAPHICS show how to cook the WEDGES, following the steps as
DAVE EXPLAINS them, not forgetting that we SEE this as well.
REPORTER (CONTD)
And now for the runner beans and
onion salad. Prepare a large bowl
of boiling salted water and ice
bowl of water. Then get another
bowl adding in all your
ingredients. Cook your beans for
about 3 minutes, then transfer to
the ice bowl immediately. Grill
your onion with vegetable oil and
seasoning, then add together.

Final Draft 8 Demo

These STEPS are once again SHOWN through GRAPHICS as well as

actually SEEING them.
REPORTER (CONTD)
And theyre we have it! A huge and
inventie meal if youve got some
spare time or in need of food for a
party. And the price? Well its
13.36 in total, which works out to
be around 3.34 each!
We see the FINISHED RESULT once again, which is SITUATED
around DAVE. GRAPHICS appear showing the TOTAL price as well
as how much it COSTS EACH.

Final Draft 8 Demo

REPORTER (CONTD)
Well thats all weve got time for
today, Ive got plenty of other
cheap meals for you to see which is
available at our website at...
However, the answers to most of
your questions is yes, you can cook
decent meals for a reasonable
price. Back to me in the studio!

Now that all the MEALS have been COOKED, we see them PLACED
around DAVE, as he comes to an END of the NEWS REPORT.

6.
7

INT. STUDIO, STUDENT ROOM - AFTERNOON

We see GRAPHICS POP UP at the bottom of the SCREEN showing

the WEBSITE link for our WEBSITE. Once DAVE has said this, we
