CHANGE IN EDUCATION SYSTEM

Children must be taught how to think, not what to think. Is said by Margaret Mead.
This is probably one of the best lines said by our elders to portray our present day education.
What is meant by education? It is a form of learning to enchance our knowledge and skills and a
habit of passing on what we learned to our next generation.

An article on Indian Education - Past, Present and Suggestions for Future by

Thomas Babington Macaulay stated there were 7.5 lakh Gurukuls before the british invasation in
india and their strength varied from 200 to 20,000, Whereas in Britain there were hardly 250
schools. This clearly shows us that India was once highly literated and well versed in our
education system then when india falled in the hands of Britain and we started praising and
embracing whatever was western.

Our teaching method slowly got destroyed and the trend of theoretical learning only
through books increased and the practical application of what we learned got declined. At the
same point the rapid increase in our population let to the emergence of various institutions with
low quality education. As a result of various institutions evolving rapidly like a fire, education
became a business sector and then it was lead by public and private organisation with a tough
competition.
The education system in India is provided by both government and private organisations
and it comes under 3 levels.
o Central
o State
o Local
Indian government is trying to provide education for every kids atleast in a primary
level. Though the government strives hard to increase our educational sectors to a best level, we
lack in providing quality education.
The teaching in central government based schoolsare highly qualified and more
practical while the education system in government school is very poor and the quality of
teaching is too less. Though the students are intelligent they are not provided with much teachers
to increase their knowledge ability and this reason is a major flaw in the lacking of education in
government schools.
Most of the institutions and schools in India follow the technique known as Exam point
of view technique which mainly concentrate only on the textbook contents and not on the
practical meaning of the subject.
They treat children like a computer and their brain as a HardDrive where they keep on
feeding all the information continuously to them, and apparently these children, who once were
smart as computers, later turns out into a dead hard drive, where they lose their minds

completly out of over loading by memorizing all the text books. The present day
education is killing the creativity of the children.
The students tend to memorize all the concepts in the textbook to score good marks in
their exam and they fail to understand the real purpose of their learning system. Parents and
teachers are also encouraging their kids only to get good marks but they are failing to understand
that their children are lacking from the general awareness and the current situations thats
happening around them. Parents and teachers should encourage their kids to think outside the
box rather than trying to trap them inside a box.
This kind of educational system in India has to be completed changed. The text book
teaching has to be completly stopped to its maximum level and the children should be given
practical knowledge on What is What.Children should never be forced to learn everything in a
harsh manner but then a suitation has to be created for them through which they themselves
should learn everything enthuciatically.
This goal can be achieved only when they are taken to many field trips where they can
explore the real world. The method of online teaching has to be implemented where more
videos and presentations has to be displaced in an very attractive ways, so as to increase their
interest towards education. They must be taught on how to create new things innovatively.
We all know that the visual communication has a greater impact rather than normal audio
communication. People tend to remember everything that they seen in video, even after its been
a decade. This same technique can be applied to education, by which the educational level can be
increased and not just the level in education can be increased but the entire quality of education
can be increased by which our country can once again become a developed country.

Education not only means reading books or writing or knowing about the current
suitations. Education will be of no use when we dont have the health to utilize our brain source
or when we are in middle of any natural calamities. So the children should also be taught on
How to survive when they are in danger and How to maintain their health in an appropriate
balanced state. Classes for swimming has to be introduced right from their primary classes.
Children are the pillars of our next generation and hence they have to be educated in a best way
by which the future of our nation can be changed.
